this vid probably helped a lot of people, and as someone who’s going to high school in 2 weeks i have some tips that will def help make middle school the best years of ur life. i’m ngl middle school was absolute hell (especially 7th grade). i’m not saying ur middle school experience will b horrible but here’s some things i WISHH i knew going into middle school. - don’t get yourself a bad reputation in middle school, especially if you live in a small town because principals and superintendents DO TALK ABT U, and you want them to be saying good things, not bad things. - avoid fighting/instigating fights. only fight to defend yourself. it will look horrible on your middle school transcripts and will only get you trouble, and getting into tons of fights will only have you walking into high school with a target on your back. i got into one fight my entire middle school career and i didn’t even wanna fight her it was just bc she had put her hands on ME FIRST, and they still tried to charge me, it’s just not worth it, because if somebody hits you too hard you can get seriously injured, and believe it or not you can kill someone if you hit them hard enough in the wrong spot (possible lifetime in prison is worth it right?) esp if they decide to try and press charges. - don’t get into,start OR instigate drama. if someone is talking abt you, ignore them, if the drama doesn’t involve you stay out it, and don’t listen to what ppl are telling you that person is saying abt u unless they say it to ur face, that’s exactly how drama starts. but don’t let nobody bully you, know when you have to stand up for urself, but don’t just lash out at every small comment somebody makes about you. and if you go into middle school getting into drama intentional or not, your middle school experience will not be good. (ask me how i know 🤣👎🏾) - don’t let minor things you can’t control stress you out, if you got a bad grade and you studied it ok, you’ll do better next time. don’t beat urself up for little things, you’ll get it the next time around 🤞🏾 - please care abt ur grades, coming from someone who had a’s and b’s every year,middle school is VERY easy IF YOU PAY ATTENTION and if you don’t understand something, ask your teacher if they have a few minutes during lunch, or look it up on yt, that always works for me. and yes grades do matter. the grades you have for middle school (especially 8th grade) can determine what classes you get into for high school, and if you have to retake a class, and trust me you do not wanna b doing summer school while evb else is having fun 🙅🏾♀️ - take care of ur hygiene, try to shower everyday in the morning b4 school, and if you don’t have enough time shower the night b4. these next few things might sound obvi, but ppl in middle school are musty asf and they will talk abt u if you stink so pls, wear deodorant, perfume, cologne, and keep an emergency kit in your locker or backpack at all times it came in handy so much during middle school, and if your friends need something you can give it to them. :) - build relationships with your teachers, don’t be disrespectful in class, pay attention, and ask questions. if you need help with something or are struggling ask them if you could stay after class or a couple minutes during lunch. it shows teachers you care and they will be willing to bump your grade up if you show ur trying. and when dealing with teachers who don’t like you it’s best to avoid interacting with them as much as possible and just do what youre told, but know when to stand up for yourself when appropriate, it’ll help you in the long run. - please please please for the love of God DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT do things your “peers” are doing just to fit in. you WILL attract the wrong crowd and end up with fake friends. just please be yourself and if you are genuine you will attract a good group of ppl to surround urself with. and on the note of friends, don’t be fake, if you don’t wanna be friends with smb don’t smile in they face then go talk abt them behind their back, it’s not cute 🤦🏾♀️ - be involved! i only joined one sport and one club my entire middle school career and i regret it so much. it’s an easy way to make friends and gives you the skills you need if you want to do the sport in hs. i did basketball this year and it was so fun i wish i had done other sports b4. turf to go on every field trip you can, and take lots of photos to cherish your middle school years 😊 - don’t do drugs, this should be obvious, but don’t take drugs from nb even your friend, something as “simple” as a vape could be laced with ANYTHING and your friend might not even know that. it’s so easy to get addicted to things like weed and nicotine especially in this generation 🤷🏽♀️ and if you get caught with you are very likely to be sent to an alternative school or even expelled from the entire district (ik smb who ts happened to) - and last but definitely NOT LEAST. don’t bully ppl, one of the other reasons my middle school was so freaking horrible was because of there mean girls who acted like my “friends” thought it was cool to make fun of me, leave me out, and just overall made me hate going to school everyday. it got so bad to the point where i was harming myself bc i couldn’t deal with ts no more. so please just be nice even when others don’t show you kindness you never know what someone’s going through. go sit with that girl who’s always alone, share your lunch with the girl who never has one, be partners with the girl who’s always left out. and if you think bullying is ok, search up aubreigh wyatt, and then ask yourself what type of person you are. that’s it, thanks for coming to ted talk lol. feel free to ask questions, as i’ll always respond. 💕🫶🏽

Prioritizing your friends over your relationships is sooo real though. She has gotten better about that over the years but seriously, whoever you date in middle school is not more important than your friends, especially if it was like my situation where we had known eachother since 2nd grade.

Story time Back round information: I was in sixth grade and my brother who at the time as in seventh grade Story: so one day I was at school and all my friend tolled me that I should download snapchat(🚩) because they had a group chat with people that I knew but just wasn't really close with and stupid me thought that that was a great idea and I downloaded it and I didn't have a phone so I used my mum phone and account and yeah I got added to a group but while I was scrolling to add people I found my class mate or so I thought . She had the exact same name as my class mate so I added her and surprise surprise she not my class mate she was a girl in my brothers class and she added me to her friend group and me being stupid didn't leave the group and decided to say shut up to them because they were blowing up my phone which wasn't even mine it was my mum's and I didn't want to get trouble so yeah big mouth me said shut up and we got into a fight 5v1 I don't know what my big moth was thinking but yh she when to far by taking photos of me in public and send them to me (btw this was recently) So yeah that my crazy story time

But, keep your circle small watch who u surround yourself with. If u planning to go to college your grades matter. Be pretty social, (you need to make friends), when u walk into ur classes, hold ur head high, and don’t walk in like ur shy, embarrassed, and nervous. Don’t worry abt being new, since there most likely will be some other new students there as well, and Ik this isn’t really abt being liked abt your class, but pay attention. like Izabella said “work isn’t hard unless u make it hard” ask questions if u don’t understand anything. And js try to be good w everyone including the teachers, if someone wants to start random ass drama, ignore them. Don’t start anything w anyone, bc ur new. I’d say unless you can beat them up, and you’re ready for the punishments, don’t fight back if you get in a fight. First of all avoid fights. But if you get in one walk away and let people make fun of you. Teachers will literally praise you for avoiding fights.

Is it okay that my teacher was so hard on me that I would cry myself to sleep? I’m not kidding she would leave me homework everyday pages front and back with atleast with 15 questions but I was busy with chores most of the time so I would have like 30 minutes to finish my homework if I wanted to have time with family and to myself I was under so much pressure for what? To get honors in Math?? An easily passed class for me was English the teacher taught boring things and stuff yk the usual but she was so funnnnnn! And I also got honors in that class too. anyways idk maybe I’m being dramatic🤷🏻♀️

To be honest I feel like if u were Make Up worry about It in the morning getting ready for school and maybe getting up early and about ur body u just need to take Care of it and worry about It and ask ur mom or ur dad to help u or even close friends and after u come Back from school take Off ur Make Up if u were Make Up wear comfy Cloth and go straight to Studying and after ur done Studying then u can excersice and take a shower and if U Don't Need to do Anything after go to sleep I hope this helps but I feel like they can help Ive never really worry about those things but I hope U can focus More and get better grades and sorry if It doent make a diffrence
