I have one at 90,000 miles but how do I bypass the 3 minute theft system. I have the gold key and black key. Every now and then I get the 3 minute wait not sure how to eliminate or make sure it does not do it in the future.

I believe it had something to do with the resistivity of the VATS chip in the keys but I'm not sure if that helps. If that's not right, there are some really helpful guys on the forum at cadillacforums.com
@@LyricalLanguages Thanks I have an appointment with my local GM Dealership next week if they offer that as a solution I am fine with disabling that wire as I do not have any heavy valuables in my car so if I can’t lock the car with security that would not be a problem I just want to eliminate this issue. When I sent in the request I did not get a call asking what I wanted repaired so the dealership probably has dealt with this on many occasions.

Lexus added side airbags in August 1996 to the LS 400 and MB in late 1995 to the W140 S-Class, facelifted R129 SL, and new W210 E-Class. The updated W140 (second refresh) was introduced to Europe in June 1996 and August 1996 to USA. Volvo was first in 1994 of course, but I don't remember if the 900-Series or S90 had them. 850 did.

Volvo patented side airbags in March 1992 and released them around August 1994 on the Volvo 850. This is the first time I’ve seen anything about the key in the ignition and the doors won’t lock. I discovered that feature by accident one day years ago. Never heard anyone talk about it or anything. Great feature. Wish many times that it wouldn’t lock if you left them on the seat.
My mom had a 99 concourse with the floor shifter memory seats analog gauges (fully loaded) with the Vin 9 engine.. it's the very car that made Cadillac my favorite
I rented a DeVille d'Elegance brand new on a trip to L.A in 1997, and I remember it being a fabulous L.A freeway cruiser. The ride was so well-managed by the computer system, you hardly felt a bump. Getting up to speed on freeway onramps was a breeze for an old grampa cruiser. Say what you will about this car. It was a lot of fun to drive. Fast-forward to 2021, and my Honda CR-V is equipped with more options and safety features than any Cadillac of the 90's. What a difference a couple of decades make.

Head gasket leaks are cooling system related and it always has been even on other Cadillac engines. And for some reason it all started when Dexcool antifreeze came out during these same years of 96/97 for GM. Had a similar problem on a Pontiac. Oddly enough none of my Northstar Cadillac's had any cooling system or head gasket problems and we've had them since the late 90s.

No. BMW and Mercedes were about 10 years behind North America in terms of design. Mercedes only started rounding corners in 1995 on the E Class.. a mere decade after Lincoln did it in the Mk VII.... and BMW wouldn’t be caught up until Chris Bangle took over design at which point they were a decade behind again. Before him.. 1990s BMWs looked like 1980s K cars. The only decent looking car of the era other than the E Class was the 500SL... already an 8 year old design that would soldier on for another 5.
BMW was crap..had one, nothing but issues and that was only 32000 miles on it...bad a/c, bad electrical, overheating...it was crap...Bowel Movement on Wheels...
I think they should have used the GM Buick 231 CID 3800 Super Charged V-6. Then these would be reliable and not an expensive pos when it gets old. Their are 3800 engines from the late 1980's still going
I am so glad they didn't use the 3800 engine. That's what is in my Pontiac and they cannot hold a candle next to a Northstar V8. And believe it or not there are plenty early Northstar V8 cars still going strong.

These engines do not explode. If you saw these cars 10 years old in a junkyard those were insurance claimed cars. Now I will say there was a problem with Dexcool antifreeze and that I did have a problem with on a Pontiac.
Beautiful cars, but these things were expensive --- the equivalent of $70-75k in 2022 dollars. And unfortunately, the head bolts were useless. $3-5k repair is not the end of the world for somebody who could afford the car, but the design flaw probably drove thousands of buyers away from GM.
@@jorgeo1492 As long as it isn't already on its way out and you do at least basic car maintenance it should treat you right. People always talk about "the dreaded northstar" but I've never had one go bad on me, had a few lacs over the years since I was a teen (for what it's worth).

I agree they were in terms of features and innovation...but mechanical wise ..the linc town car 4.6 was and is extremely reliable motor.....that can not be said for the North Star.....so many head gasket failures....I have a 2007 Town car with 197.000 miles...and no major issues.....

@@dougr3142 You need to try another Northstar V8 Cadillac, so much better than any Town car that Ive tried out!. I had two older 4.9L devilles that were both bad experiences for me. I have a 2001 Deville DTS that i bought back in 2010 and I'm still driving it today and it has been so very reliable. Never a problem besides normal maintenance. The Brougham is another nice Cadillac but those 5.0/5.7 engines are such dogs. Those older engines cannot move those cars out of their own way like the Northstar V8 can.

The exterior is decent looking and the powertrain (head bolt and dexcool fiasco aside) sophisticated, but man that interior is cheap! The door panels, the dashboard, the thick, bulbous buttons and switches...it was as if Cadillac hired Duplo to design the interior. The Town Car interior after the 1995 refresh wasn't much better at all either. I like to root for American cars, but anyone with eyes has to admit this interior was definitely NOT up to par with the European contemporaries of the day.

Dude Ive had the same car, and those Lexuses are also lined up in the junkyards as Ive seen plenty! Many cadillacs still on the road where Im from. Lexus are nice ONLY when well maintained and cared for but they do degrade badly if they are not. I had the LS400 and it wasnt as plush as the Devilles.

In 1997 Cadi Devile was junk and today they are all in the junk yard. Prove me wrong burger boy!!!
Dude Ive had the same car, and those Lexuses are also lined up in the junkyards as Ive seen plenty! Many cadillacs still on the road where Im from. Lexus are nice ONLY when well maintained and cared for but they do degrade badly if they are not. I had the LS400 and it wasnt as plush as the Devilles.
its the same with any car, if you dont maintain them they fail...have had 15 Caddys only had a issue with the 4.1 liter V8..none since..so you dont know what your talking about...
