I've finally started playing in a school team as a setter, and I must say your videos help me alot through my training! Keep up the good work Coach , im always learning new things from you!
I do that lol. But its kinda easy just get a spiker who can jump high then get wm to jump either far away like left side then have em swing as soon as they jump then set as fast as possible
set my first quick today it was a one tried to focus on stopping the ball exactly in the my middle's hitting zone the fact that it wasn't even planned but we both thought of it at the same time was more special to me made me feel like kageyama
During last practice my couch asked if I knew how to set a quick ball and I said I hadn’t tried it before so he made my try it, only had he explain it like this... He just said “short and quick” without telling me where to aim for, or any tips whatsoever. I had no clue which muscles to use or when or where to set the ball. Let’s just say I sucked, now I finally get what to do thank you so much!
Hey, I'm 195cm tall, 16 years old, middle blocker from Brazil and I started playing volleyball on august last year. I've been watching you guys' videos in order to improve my volleyball skills. Some of your tips have really been helping me. I used to have lots of problems hitting the ball when trying to spike and after seeing your vids my quick spike has just been deadly for the guys I play with. I'm still an intermediate player but I'm improving very fast. Thank you for the help and keep up the good work! ;)
My dream was to become our school setter, and then when we had try out... I became a setter thats why i thank you master because of you i learned the hardest thing in the easiest thing... THANK YOU VERY MUCH😘😘
Laughy Sophie Doing those sets where the ball stops in it's path seems really hard to do though. if you're gonna try good luck. In terms of being on Hinata's level sounds more possible, besides the jumping of course
the one where hinata closes his eyes and jumps is more realistic, however if you really want to do the falling toss, itll probably be more of slowing down near the point of impact than actually stopping dead in its tracks
So a girl I know asked me to set a first tempo ball for her but I havent exercised much that ball so now im learning it for her since she is my best hitter.
I am going to use these vball videos of yours in our school and club trainings. I know that these are very beneficial to all esp. to thise who are aspiring to become great vball players. Thanks. More updated videos..
wooow combination of you two is amazing ... he jumps exactly when you touch the ball. i made a mistake because i jump before my setter touch the ball, now i get it .... thanks a lot, very nice video (y)
I’m a setter in volleyball and my coach is teaching me 1 tempos, 3 tempos, and rips; not to mention I have a 3 day volleyball tournament starting tomorrow..this video SAVED ME 🫶🫶
thank you! (i suggest to update the "online coaching videos" link, or (even better) configure a redirect on your site, from the old page to the new one)
I'm a middle blocker and I find quick spikes easier to hit than other types. I think part of it is because I'm quite tall (195cm) so I just have to run, jump and the setter will put the ball right in my hand so I just have to hit it as hard as I can, instead of thinking too much about my timing.
Hi coach donny. Can i ask a question about the timing of the middle blocker. When should i start approaching? I only do 2 steps approach. Thank you and more powers ☺️
just want to find out the different hand signal plays used by the setters to set the vball to their spiker. f u can, kindly provide video tutorial how setters call a play and deliver them for their spikers to hit the vball. Thanks. This will be a Very Good to all esp. to me as an amateur Coach and trainer. Thabks Again.
Hey coach, do you happen to coach mission san jose? My school just played at tournament and remembered seeing someone like you. Either way, great job on all your vidoes. The timing tutorials helped a lot
Hi! I am 5'4 and new to playing volleyball. I am "too small" to hit, but am interested in libero. As a backdown specialist what are the responsibilities of this position and techniques to do it better? I maybe be to amatuer, but I watch your videos a lot hahaha
The hard thing about setting is when you have to have the right timing, angle, make sure it doesn't slip😅, and you have to set the right amount if height.
i'm a setter and i still get to hit lots, especially if you do back court setting. you'll be able to hit almost the same amount as the hitters when you're in front court.
Can you pliz , made a clarefication about , setting , how to to use both the hands , and beweeten , both hands , and there should be a gape , iwant to know about the , hands motions , and gape
I meant how to practise if I have to set the ball at position 5 , but the player at 4 position allow it to pass above it , Nd the backline hitter 5 position player goes Nd hits it taking long jump.
Setting comes in naturally for me, I just have to observe my spikers’ tempo when approaching the ball. Although I’m really conflicted about quick sets since one of my spikers really love quick sets. He usually adjusts when I do a normal set because he’s better in spiking when he’s the one adjusting because he’s able to read his position. But in quick sets I have to be the one to adjust which I’m not used to when it comes to him.
I'm 5'11 setter i bet struggling set to my middle with an average height of 5'7 tall what should I practice to make me connected to my middle if my middle doesn't connect or respond to the set to him his mean reason the set is high I'm an opposite hitter converted to setter what should I practice to make my set perfect to link with my middle hitter.,
Can you do a video on setter training? And i have a question when your doing a jump set is it better to jump lightly or jump with everything ? Btw very inspiring videos 😊
while setting ball i am unable to apply same force from my hands...force from one hand dominate other and ball fell into net, attackers finding it difficult to hit the ball...how to overcome this problem????any drills and practices ???
I see a lot of people recommend doing sets to a wall, short, long, close etc. Practice again and again until you figure out how much to use both hands at the same time
I love these videos. Well done, but can I add something here? Most of us who are 180cm or more can generally block many of these short sets (1) if the spiker is not in the air when the set is made, so the opposing coach simply tells their blockers to jump with the spiker. I tell my setter to be aware of my movement prior to getting the ball because I am timing my jump so that I am already hanging in the air and moving upwards to the 11 foot range. I start my upward jump before the setter has released the ball. If I draw a blocker, the setter can now execute a 4 or 5. If no blocker comes to me, the opposing team has no chance. The quick sets at th-cam.com/video/mLQcnr-Xt64/w-d-xo.htmlm59s show the spiker starting their jump and being high in the air just at setter release. From ball in hands to a flick release for the setter can be less than 1/6 of a second. Gentle ball travel of 3-6 feet can be 1/6 of a second. Spiker needs hang time of less than half a second to accomplish this. The same move in basketball is called an alley-hoop. You will note more easily that in basketball on a short pass the player is often floating in the air already shortly before or even as the ball is being passed.
well... the middle blocker (quick spiker) jump in same time with setter passing the ball (zero tempo). and for minus temp, the spiker jump before setter pass the ball. i think it is impossible in real life.
thanks so much man. really appreciate your dedication to these videos. Any chance you can make one on reading hitters/hard driven balls? im fine in most aspects of vball but when it comes to very fast balls, it becomes really hard for me to react to it. also, i seem to swing my arms and completely miss and glue my feet to rhe ground.
I've finally started playing in a school team as a setter, and I must say your videos help me alot through my training! Keep up the good work Coach , im always learning new things from you!
Of course i will, already hooked half of the team on your channel!

Is it weird that i find setting quickballs easier than normal sets? i keep doubling and my sets aren’t accurate enough for my normal sets.
Very weird.. Because for me setting full and meter balls are far easier and I suck at setting quicks
Me too. I do quick sets better 😂
Sammme
I find it easier as well
It’s normally easier for a lot of people
I love setting! it's the best position imo
