The key of axe kick to get into the lockdown position is pure gold. As a kimura enthusiast, and half-guard player, I've wanted to do lockdown stuff for a long time but my short legs prohibit me from getting into position. This is the first video I've seen that doesn't go from kimura to "just swing the leg over and get into lockdown". Beautiful.
Amazing. I'm a huge Kimura fan and just blown away by the little details behind keeping the wrist pinned to avoid getting hit with an arm bar as he steps over. Can't wait to try this on the mat. Brilliant! 🤙🏽
This is awesome, as a fresh blue belt and half guard player it seems my kimura sweeps are the most consistent of my sweep arsenal, and arm bars being my most consistent submission... A lot of the time though my kimura's will get stopped or my sweep won't have the leverage with the bigger guys sometimes and this seems to be a great tool to use for those moments to bring together two of my favorite ways to play the game. Thank you!
awesome technic.when you roll the guy to finish the arm bar(8:30), i like to use my right hand (in this case) to grab the ankle of the guy to help the roll... oss
I've been working on this for a couple weeks now. It's a bit more difficult in the gi but still pretty effective. It was scary to stay committed to the kimura when they come around for the armbar but today was the first time I was actually able to reverse 2 guys from it. Thank you Lachy.
Hey Lachlan! Firstly I woul like to say all your videos have seriously pimped my game, cheers for that. Second: at 4:02 you get in that pre back take / jump over position. What happens alot is that people just walk there leg over in the mount. I still have the Kimura grip but it feels bad man. Any advice?
Just a quick question: At around 3:47, what prevents the armbar in that position? Right arm pretty much straight and opponent already kneeling. Looks like a quick pull brings you flat on your back and opens your head so the opponent can swing his left leg over the head and sit back for the armbar ...
Hi! I've been playing a fair amount of half guard, but I've been having difficulty getting to the kimura position. (They hide their elbow close to their hip a lot.) What's the setup to get their elbow away from their hip long enough for me to reach over to get the kimura position started out?
They will eventually try to use their arm to go for the cross face. You should be following the arm with your hand and time it to go for the kimura then. If they never do this then they're not applying proper pressure from the top and you likely have other options.
If I order the half guard anthology from the link am I getting just parts one through four or all eight parts? It appears to be all eight but it's not clear.
Hey Bro's i have a question: The sweep vs the armbar counter doesnt seem to work if he holds his hand with a grip more to the inside, so you cant push his hand against his hip.. i had this situation today so i couldnt sweep him and he could still step over and armbar me. Anyone have a solution?
+respeezy That definitely makes it more risky to attack the kimura by letting them pass. If the hand is towards the inside I try to focus more on keeping them in the half guard and working me leg to the hip. Then I can try to pry the hand out or at least get it near the hip. Sometimes you have to sort of invert to get this to work. Let me know if that helps. I might be able to do another video on that.
BJJ Fundamentals - Absolute MMA South Yarra Thanks for responding, i will play with it and see how it goes. Would love another vid ( anything on the kimura game :) )
Exellent details. I have been a firm believer in the Kimura grip for almost everything.
Same here, but as with everything you love, the art is to know when to let go. (and switch for the Armbar!)
@@sebastianbroscheyoga the man himself, great site buddy
Brilliant instruction! Any more and you will be giving away all the Kimura Trap System... :)

This is one of the best Kimura tutorials ive seen in a while . Great job buddy
Agreed!
Eureka moment to avoid the armbar push the wrist up to block hip coming down. Great tip.
Ayrshire Grappler what?
He’s saying when opponent goes to step over head just push the hand into persons hip so they cant step over into armbar.
@@t-bone7988 @2:13 he talks about keeping the wrist and pressuring it into the hip to prevent the spin around armbar.

so many variations of attack from this position. Fascinating.
I have been using this system on my own for a few years and it is GOLD! Love seeing this polygenesis of thought!
Need to train with Lachlan one day. Great teacher!
Such a great teacher.
All your videos are great instruction. Your side control escape is priceless. Thanks 👍🏻.

This video changed my entire kimura game, not as I use a specific technic but the concept in how I use it
🤯 that hand to hip detail you’ve missed for years
Brilliant. Well-explained. Appreciated.
This has been my go to lately
The best BJJ instructor going... thank you
Thanks for sharing this video I've been having problems finish it but these techniques will help me a lot
I end up with that kimura trap from z guard all the time but have trouble finishing it. This has helped me! Thank you Lachlan!

Awesome details, will be looking for these in training, thanks Mr Giles
Aleays used the kimura trap, from the half guard you can also put on a reverse triangle! So you got 2 submissions in one
8:02 did Lachlan just spike dude on his head? 😂. Thanks for the video
Very nice mr, thank you👊🏻🤘🏻

Brilliant!
This is straight up wizardry!
Great video, @energia martial arts check this video from Giles
Is the last technique at 9:05 usually allowed in competitions? It is not considered striking, is it?
Interesting i gave up on bottom half guard kimura's, hope the sweep against the counter armbar will work a 100% at least 60% of the time.
Wow, just wow.
Awesome

I am a big fan of your channel and have a question, if they grab your legs and straightarm so you cant use them, do you have any tips?
7:20 - is it rooster?
I been getting arm bared from side control when I played the Kimura trap... not anymore!!!
I need that rash guard, plz take my money!
I could watch 4:18 all day. smooth as silk
is there anywhere to find lachlan’s matches from EBI 5?

I've done it in sparring against a 90 kg guy and I am 65 it works every time and he is not new to jiu jitsu .

Hi. What's your preference when they tuck in their elbow and pull my kimura as they posture up? This puts a lot of pressure on my arm.
Omg this is nice
What do you do if he pulls the kimura in towards his center as you straighten it? It kinda kills the power from bottom.
Opinions on if this would work in a Gi scenario?
