Minor correction: side step actually makes you dash in the direction of your movement, and not the direction you are looking in. This means that if you are moving backwards or sideways, side stepping will instead allows you to step backwards or sideways.
correcting your correction (4 month late, sorry lol): side step *does* make you dash in the direction you're looking in, *ONLY* if you let go of your movement keys before using it. so you can use side step as a third jump by letting go of WASD, double jumping and side stepping while looking upwards. as a slingshot main, it's pretty good to either get to higher places to back up, get some shield back or go backline, or to attack people from very high up in the frontline (which is very efficient towards melee phighters as long as you don't fall into them when you stop air walking)

Very good guide but a thing I noticed is that you didn’t notice a hidden mechanic about the hover passive. Where sling charges their shots twice as fast. So it’s best to use your basic attacks in the air to retain your speed and use your abilities after hovering to gain speed.

To counter a melee phighter, never use Q or secondary as they can punish it due to self stun. Although it is quite effective to use secondaries while they are at a decent distance not too far away. If they are really close and you start taking dmg, dash away and use your m1s to chip off their hp and use your aim.
as a newbie who can only use rocket slingshot and biograft thank you so muhc rocket just gets bombarded by melee everyone hates biograft and i kinda suck at it thank you
Personally, I have much more time struggling with ranged Battles with Slingshot due to the punishable skills. but for melee matchups, theres easy way to keep your distance, slingshots Passive and Dash will be your grace fighting melee phighters. with range battle however. Hyperlaser actually outperforms Slingshot.. here me out on this one, Hyper laser has two skill that either displace or control his enemy and hyperlaser has also a skill the turn his shot, to be fired in instant.. So ideally (for me at least) ill pick slingshot against melee more often than against ranged to charge up my phinisher BEFORE going for the ranged
also rocketeer has less punishing skill, which make him much more beginner friendly than slingshot, as slingshot requires to be aware of when to charge your shots without being heavily punished

Not everyone is a pro at aiming at first! I suggest that you practice a bit more with playing Slingshot, or any other characters! You can also practices in different games like Arsenal, Phantom Forces, etc. Hope this might have helped!
I'm VERY sucky when it comes to phighting, and I really want to find a character I can actually use. Maybe, juust maybe, when I get better aim I can use slingshot. It'll take practice, but yea.
Hyperlaser imo. He has m1s that are hard to land, but is rewarding once you get the hang of it. Another alternative is to play your local shooter game in roblox or in a different platform! hope this helps!

Whenever I try to kill one they just run away to the other side of the earth and it's so annoying and my only hope is if the map has a lot of holes in it so I can just press swords E ability and then I drag them down to the deepest layer of dantes inferno. If anyone plays slingshot I already have a personal beef with them even if they're on my team.
