Played the heck out of this game when I was kid when it first came out. Now I'm gonna play the heck out of this one as an adult.
Same here! I hope this Rehydrated version has all of the features that were suppose to have Been in the original game but were cut. Like the robot Squidward boss fight for example.

Never in my day did I ever think that off all games to receive an HD remake that they would single out something as underrated yet highly appreciated and forgotten gem like Spongebob Battle for Bikini Bottom.

The only thing I wish they changed was having Clancy Brown reprise his role as Mr. Krabs... unfortunately, it seems like that stand-in still has his role in the game, courtesy of the archived recordings.

They made the “Ham” just a painted chunk of metal. I love that attention to detail.
While it was a nice touch, I’ll miss the giant ham Ham-mer used to hammer us with.

I Love that they are mostly updating the graphics while keeping the music and dialogue. I can't wait for the full game to come out! This was one of my all time favorite games as a kid!

I wish every game company takes notes. This is how you take an old game and remaster it, actually putting in work to the game rather than just making it compatible for newer systems. I’m absolutely excited to play this when it comes out.

Well a remaster only improves some sort of shading and the resolution, but this right here is a complete remake as it probably runs on a new engine too
That's what remaster is though, upgrading the resolution and video quality as well as making it compatible to newer systems. This right here is a complete remake, meaning that they literally remade the game from scratch

Some things I noticed during the beta gameplay:
- Sound effects are different
- The sock texture is dark
- The UI is has entirely changed, including the font for the Shiny Objects counter and combo, as well as buttons and how much health SpongeBob has
- The stomp attack takes longer to ground pound than the final version
- The Tiki models look like they were from the original BFBB
- Some of SpongeBob’s animations were changed
- There’s no sneaking sound effect when SpongeBob moves slowly
They got rid of the shiny object shine in the final version
It's crazy that this is what the game looked like in my mind as a child- like I imagined the grass and trees looking like this

The two Spongebob games I had as a kid for PS2 were the movie game and Creature from the Krusty Krab. If those two were remastered like this, I'd be sold.

Nordic just bought the name from them and some of their IPs.
They are completely different entities, so it's not quite accurate to say that the original THQ is "back"

There's just so much detail! From the vibrant colors and SpongeBob's reactions when he approaches a robot, to the city in the background and the debris and busted robots scattered around! They even made the robots' 'ham'mers (now I get it) actual hammers painted to look like hams! I really want to play this...

@@lovespringfreshness I think the reason is unlikely is less the game itself and more the source material. Battle for bikini bottom was based on a show, the movie on... the movie. A bit stranger imo to remake a game based on a movie released over a decade ago. Or at least it is to op.

It was confirmed to be a faulty capture card recording, it’s likely not gonna look this saturated in the final game.

I wish the music still got quiet during dialogue like the original. When you would talk, the music would drop to a quiet level. I know this is still a WIP, but it didn’t happen in this demo so I hope they fix that. It’s a little detail, but I think it was really nice in the original. Hope it happens here because this reboot looks great!

My only critique is that the shiny flowers( don’t remember the actual name lol) don’t make the high pitched ding sound when you collect them like in the original.

You missed some of the dialog lines between Squidward and SpongeBob for the beginning of Jellyfish Fields. Regardless, this is a near perfect recreation of the original! Keep up the great work!

I’ve played this as a little child so happy, when everything was great, and life was actually not sad, hard, or anything like that, I wanted to play this game again and was going to buy the original Xbox and the original game bc I wanted to play this game SOO MUCHH, I even watched the whole gameplay of the whole game like SOO MANYY TIMES, I’ve been through so much pain in life, and I’m just crying of joy bc they are making a remake of this game, I can finally have part of my childhood happiness back, and feel at least a little joy in my life for once ‼️💯❤️😥🙂😃😄😁😊😌✅✨‼️
