I met my wife from District 8 back in 2002. And I did find that there were some gang/mafia there I never felt any danger. In fact they invited me to eat and drink. Just don't be on their bad side or get hired by some upset person to use their special skills and all is good. Everyone is Friendly in VN. VN #1 :)
sometime at night . They have some danger and bad person. But not only Vietnamese sometime they come from US- Afircan- Canada- england - china,.....

Very true about sincerity in Vietnam. Most people are very kind and even the ones that aren't will leave you alone for the most part.
Most are southerners, northerners are not friendly
@@mercuryvn6099 I find that some people are just more conservative than others, North, Central or South. Initially, these types of people might not seem nice but when they finally open up to you, you might be surprised. Of course, you can't make everyone happy either.
Dân q8 đây :)). Chợ Rạch Ông is only 100m away from my house. So surprised and happy to see my neighborhood on your video. Many people here are from miền Tây especially Long An (at least half of my neighbors are), they're kind and friendly and generous like Vietamese people in general and dân miền Tây specifically are. In fact, ward 1 and 2 are the centre of quận 8, you can't find many giang hồ here, just watch out for your stuff, don't wear golden accessories like the lady at around 12:00 said, seriously. Last month or so I've heard that a lady had her phone stolen, someone at the market saw and got it back to her right away but she didn't dare to call the police because she was afraid that he had a gang and would revenge. On the other hand I myself as a girl used to chase after 2 robbers on my motorbike from chợ Rạch Ông to Đặng Chất just to get my purse back so :)))... quận 8's quite peaceful tho?

Seems like your Vietnamese has really improved. From my experience people in general are friendlier with foreigners when they can speak their language. I've even got free meals and great deals with sellers just for speaking Vietnamese kinda like you. Tốt lắm

Speaking from a little experience. Typically if you’re not a person that’s associated with the lifestyle or walking around trying to look hard, most Vietnamese gangsters won’t bother you.

There are no such things as the most dangerous district in Saigon or Vietnam. I feel more safe in VN than in LA, Calif.
My wife's parent's lived in District 8 in some luxury condos. It felt really safe lol. I want to go back to Vietnam so badly.

Hehe, Phúc mập. Your clip is hilarious. LMAO. At the beginning, your first question " Cho anh hỏi, em là giang hồ hay trẻ trâu ?" ( an offensive question) , had it been asked by a Vietnamese instead of you, then the asker ( the Vietnamese) could have been punched into the face by the interviewee. But when a Vietnamese 's asked like that by a foreigner, he would think ít' s funny because he assume that absurd question due to your not -so- perfect Vietnamese, so he wouldn't take that seriously.
I’m Vietnamese also a young girl. And I see it sounds like a troll if I must be heard it. No problem.
In Vietnamese, giang in "giang hồ" stands for river ( Chinese-Vietname word), hồ is a lake. But " giang hồ" implies of people who lives on the streets ( live from place to place like from a lake to a river), kind of homeless, a guy who lives more like a thug or a gang member.
" trẻ trâu" indicates a youngster with a mind of crazy water buffalo, means a hard head, immature young guy.
So both words are offensive words and stands for an insult in Vietnamese.

Day-to-day, by far the most significant personal danger is the traffic. Violence crime is rare, but property crime is fairly common... I could write a short book about my own experiences, and they are not unusual among normal Vietnamese, who are equally victimized by theft. I have crossed paths with the serious bad guys, but it was an exceptional circumstance. Outside the traffic issue, VN is as safe as anyplace I've ever been.

From Q8 here. Heard big drug operation some years ago with police force from the elsewhere. What year is that?

You would only really feel dangerous in districts four and eight if you lived there before 1975. For now, you don't have to worry about that.

all of my cousins on my mother's side are in Q8. heck I was just there this morning getting glasses made on Duong Ba Trac and a hair cut next door.
Traveled to Vietnam from 2001 every year for a month until covid hit. It's safe there just don't flaunt your cell camera or your money. The best thing I ever heard on a bus from Saigon to Cambodia is that whatever is in your back pocket isn't yours

Hurley, when out and about in the heat, wear white instead of black, it does make a difference, as black absorbs the heat.
I live in Arizona and I see people wearing black all the time. It's a heat magnet. I'd be wearing lightweight silks and linen. Custom made as I'm 6'6".

I've been in Saigon for 11 years and to my mind, the most dangerous area in Saigon is actually Binh Tan District, but the West ò Binh Tan district, where located nearby to the national highway 1A, you can see lots of industrial zones and the environment that place is really bad and not suggested to live.

Exactly, no dangerous if you only go around for sightseeing, but if you do business like: porters, parking keeper,...you take their territory you will know how they are
Go to any country and do the right thing, then you should be fine. Been back a few times, food is great, people are friendly, just don’t bargain too hard.

The rumor about dangerous district 8 is just an old story but in Vietnam now there are a lot of officers and knights, don't worry about security.

Hello Phúc Map. My boyfriend got me hooked on your channel. We love it, but we agree to one thing. I have to mention this. Please don’t take this the wrong way. First, I want to say I love your channel. Very entertaining. However, the many tunes you try to emphasize with the Bac dialect you are speaking makes a lot of what you are saying is wrong. Sometimes you have the correct annunciation; however you add a tune to your words and it creates a whole different meaning to your words…a lot of the times. Keep in mind there’s about six or seven dialects, maybe more. If you want the majority of the Vietnamese people to understand you, speaking Nam is best. Although it’s more broken and not as proper as Bac, anywhere you go, anyone would understand you. There’s a lot of slang and “improper” way of speaking, but it’s the basic Vietnamese language that everyone can understand. Bac is a very hard language to learn and the hardest accent to understand next to Hue and Truong and Hmong Viet. I heard your wife talk, if that’s really her voice in the videos. I don’t think she’s speaking naturally. It sounds like she may be changing the tone on some words just so you can understand her better. I think you add too much excitement to your words and it can really get to my ears. I just want to help you out by saying this. No offense to ya! Keep up the great work!!! This is just my take on things. 🙏
He does not speak with a Bac accent - his tonality is just off a lot of the time is all. It's only hard to understand because you're from the south, otherwise, it's not difficult to understand at all. If anything, he SHOULD speak with the Bac accent because it IS the proper way to speak Vietnamese and it doesn't use slang and incorrect wordage.

The rule to win this fear is keep routin slowly walking when you across the streams of motobike! motor-bykers knows how to avoid you themself in chaos-order! remmember do not runs and stop suddently , accident immidiatly ! Don’t be affraid of and do it if you want to be safety in the crazy- traffic in Vietnam.

suggestion is to use subtitles again. the youtube auto subtitles cant translate the vietnamese :)
The subtitles in Vietnamese are available. You simply have to hit the CC button and change the language in the settings. I used to burn them into the video, but that added an extra 3+ hours to every video, so now I simply upload them to be turned on/off for each person. They’re available in Vietnamese and English and are fairly accurate.
