    I love performing the exercise your son thought of, where you lay on the bench on your back and push against the bottom foundation where the squat stand it and perform leg extension. I immediately follow that with controlled one legged press. This works if you have traditional TG w/o weights attachment. If I needed to be more challenging, I'll add resistance band as you have demonstrated in so many of your videos. Thank you

    I would love to see a video about exercises that can replace deadlifts for the glutes. Thanks for all you do as I always watch your videos. I'm more of a band guy that uses the Total Gym for additional exercises. But I am looking for something to do in addition to deadlifts.

    Mike you are the man. Great vids and ideas. I am 60 next month. Worked out since I was 16. Obviously not everyday. Good and bad weeks. Got a total gym 6 weeks ago. Hit a different area every work out. Have missed 1 workout, due to being lazy. Love your instructions. Yes I do different additions “at my own risk”. No guts no glory. Thanks Mike

    I just stick to the regular squat the 1 legged squat then a side squat you are way more mobile than I am doing those other moves. Another good one mike.

    That side press really works I tried it the other day and my hips and glutes were a little soar the next day. I haven’t felt any soreness in my muscles for a few weeks so I knew I was hitting something sweet with that!

    I just bought a blue Total Gym FIT Select series with XL squat board, ab crunch, and the two piece wing attachment for $100 on Facebook marketplace. The seller just wanted to get rid of it. It’s in great shape with only a few cosmetic imperfections. What a steal!
    I’m so excited. I’ll order some more attachments. I’ve been using a 1400 for years, but those attachments don’t fit on the FIT.

    • @Nick-NY

    On "debating about making this video" and veteran TG users: Don't worry about that. I'm familiar with all the exercises shown, but still picked up a couple of usefuls: The band/weight combo giving a boost to the eccentric and the use of a grip mat is one I'm kicking myself I hadn't thought of! It's not unusual to use bands or a grip mat to prevent slippage when heavy bench pressing, but somehow I never thought to carry that idea over when I was slip siding against the bands I have on our XLS! I do wonder how the TG's own pads will stand up to the extra tension of grip pad plus extra weight/band tension but that's just something to watch for I suppose. Great tips either way.

    Excellent video - there’s so many possible exercises, it’s best to focus on the best bang for the (time) buck, and this does that beautifully for the legs, which are one of the more challenging body parts to work effectively on a sliding bench trainer if you don’t know what you are doing.

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  ปีที่แล้ว

  • @kriswempa5171
    @kriswempa5171 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I may have to try the combination of bands and weights for squats. With only bands, I find that I have to do each leg individually, which takes a lot more time.

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It also feels great for a seated upright squat stand press, but forgot to add that in during editing. Which is fine because these are still better, but it feels good on that exercise too.

    I am interested in the squats BUT, when I returned from the battlefield, many surgeries were needed, one of which both my knees were surgically removed and replaced with metal. I am not able to kneel well on the board along with other exercises, although, I have modified many of your routines. There is much enjoyment doing these exercises with you. Also, do you have a 90 day exercise regiment I can follow daily? Semper Fi

    seems like having the higher height setting makes it easier to not slip off the squat stand - when doing the face down squats. I'll make sure to move up the height setting next time. I used my ratchet strap to hold in my feet this time - definitely got the BURN.

    Great video. I love to see these exercises in multiple videos, especially if the camera angles and descriptions are slightly different as I get more out of them each time.
    When it comes to leg exercises, some of the ones you show are not comfortable for me, as I feel a bit unstable. I might work up to them later, but not for me right now.
    I do not think I have ever seen you using any plyometric exercises, and I would like to get your opinion on the usefulness of them. Specifically, I have been trying single leg plyometric squats on my total gym to try and increase the difficulty and change things up. What are your thoughts?

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Allan and great to see you back in the comment section. I've talked about power in this video th-cam.com/video/8iTxaA423pU/w-d-xo.html but not specifically plyometrics. True "plyometrics" can work but might be tough on some movements to go full power on. I will look at doing more on this though in the future.

      @hybridresistance  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can still do some good damage. It's not designed for it, but I personally will drape a weight vest over or use bands. But that's definitely at your own risk and might not be worth it.
