According to Di Marzo (Calciomercato guy for Sky Sport Italia, and very credible source here) "Arsenal has presented a more convincing offer to both Bologna and the player. The definitive agreement has not yet been reached, but the agent Cala, Alessandro Lucci, is currently working to close the remaining distances between the clubs." This was 1 hour ago. So, it seems that whatever issues remain, are between the two clubs.
Just for curiosity, Materazzi was asked about this move, and he said that outside Italy, he hopes Cala will go to Arsenal, because it would fit him better. I tend to agree with that. If he's going to play outside Serie A, I hope he plays for Arsenal.

You have to consider fc basel have a 50% sell on clause and bologna may want to cash in as much as they can. Juve had a gentleman's agreement of €25m and bologna have changed there stance on that . Maybe that's why bologna rather sell him to a Premier league team as they are more willing to pay the big bucks

Ornstein and The Athletic interestingly have made no mention of Calafiori. Even The Athletic's latest transfer round up video (40+ minutes) makes no mention of him despite discussing Arsenal's options for backup GK.

@@luthfan9395 maybe arteta wants a more defensive left footed LB and let Timber play in RB (then allowing White to rest Saliba). we've let Soares go, so likely Timber replaces him to play on his better side.

@@JoshFord-zs8dg were any prone before signing? Either way, injuries happen, which is why we need 8 defenders, 4-lefties, 4 right footed... and protect against strains by overuse White, Saliba and Gabriel have had, and Xinchenko had before.

@@JoshFord-zs8dg so four defenders... and two were cheap/free backups that mostly went on loan and since left. Agree Tomi seems to become more susceptible, just hoping he can rest and fully rehab... he only a handful of missed matches season before signing. Hadnt realised Xinchenko's record pre-signing was that bad though. Either way, Gabriel, White, and Saliba have just gone a season without any probs. my concern isnt that arteta is buying injury prone players, more that they are being overused - City rotate their defence almost every game. In Calafioris case, guessing arteta has to use last season's injury record as proof he has overcome any previous, and will allow Timber time to be reintroduced if he needs it.
Thank God Arsenal didn't buy seko. He couldn't score one on one with Diego coasta of Portugal , He would have been a waste .
