This is exactly what I’ve been looking for my m440i, thanks this video really helped show a better perspective, not just some reving and drive bys from the outside
Glad you found it helpful! I do have internal audio in my Bartlett lake video, as well as drivebys, coldstarts and revving on my Instagram highlights. This exhaust is so loud irl my neighbours do not appreciate it at all and I'm still on the stock downpipe.
That was amazing man thank you for this video. I think i will be getting this exhaust for my m440i. It sounds amazing. It has been between this and awe
Id really like to hear Eco/Comfort/Sport/Sport+. I drive mostly in comfort or sport+ with comfort settings to hear the exhaust. Dont want something too loud and its either the Dinan or the MPE
How are the burbles and pops on this? I know you have a 2021. Is it noticeably more than stock exhaust in sport plus? Also I’m worried about alignment of the exhaust tips, can you make it flush with the diffuser? I see lots of people with the tips sticking out way too much and it’s not the best look. Curious about this. Great video!
Of course the car doesn't burble more as that is a tuning thing. But the burbles the car does have are noticeably louder. Dinan specifies exactly how to install the exhaust so the tips sit flush, I have up close pics and vids on my insta. All those cases you see are either improper installation or customer preference to have it slid out more, etc... and thank you :)
I just had mine installed and they are slid out more so you can read the "Dinan" logo on the exhaust. It make a huge difference over stock especially with the Dinan Cold Air Intake. I thought it would sound good but this sounds better than I even expected. You will get more "Burbles" for sure but also a few more "pops" here and there. My next step is to get a Catted Downpipe.
I’m thinking about getting the dinan exhaust for my ‘21 m340 as well. Do you think it’s worth it? I know that it doesn’t sound as nice compared to the exhaust on the 2020 m340. I’m having a hard time contemplating whether the exhaust is worth the $2000. It does sound good in the video though so I’m leaning towards it.
I paid around $1500 for mine nearly 2 years ago. I unfortunately grew disappointed with how the system droned on the highway, and how the valves make nearly zero difference on sound. If you can find a used system for cheap I'd say definitely go for it, because it will be a lot of fun. But for $2000 that's just wayyy to much imo. Make no mistake tho, it will make ur car sound amazing. Hope this helps :)
@@carcrisis9139 Do you know what caused the system to drone? I thought this exhaust droning was very minimal. And for the valves, it made no difference in sound when in comfort vs sport? Could you elaborate on that? Thank you!
@@random-nv6qr any time you change a car's backbox (muffler), which the Dinan system completely replaces with a much smaller unit, it will inevitably cause a drone. When you're cruising on the highway, the drone is a very deep tone, which isn't intrusive, but it's something you will definitely notice and might bother you. The valves hardly make a difference on the volume of the exhaust when they're open vs shut, I'd say maybe a 10% difference in volume.
@@random-nv6qr 1-2 when ur driving around town. 3-3.5 on highway depending on speed. I sold my m340i about 4 months ago so I kind of forgot to what extent it bothered me. It's nowhere near as bad as some aftermarket systems like the awe track exhaust.
Virtually no difference. Even from the outside the difference is slight. Maybe it'll be more significant if you are catless as well but I ran it with the stock cat.
Stock downpipe. Interestingly enough though, even before I installed the Dinan exhaust, I noticed the car did get a bit louder over time most likely due to degradation of the catalytic converter.
I agree with @CarCrisis I thought I would need a downpipe to get great sound from this exhaust but that is 100% not the case. It is lound and now everyone looks at me when I drive by.....I love it!! But I will be getting a Catted Downpipe soon just because I already own every other Dinan part they sell.
There is a noticeable drone compared to stock. But it's a really low frequency and for me at least I forget about it easily. However, my father who's obviously much older finds it annoying.
Still running this setup? Looking for an exhaust for my 2020 and I’d love a valvetronic but that price + install is a bit much for my likes. Between AWE track and the Dinan exhaust but as I saw you mentioned the valves don’t do much which was my only interest in this exhaust.
Yup, the valves don't really make a difference. The valvetronic system is much better for that. If I were you, I'd skip getting an expensive exhaust entirely and just get a downpipe. Catless or catted, it'll be much cheaper, and it'll sound just as good while also adding horsepower and giving u faster turbo spool time.
@@nextro420 Colorado n5x should be able to get the job done. But if u really like your m340 and plan to keep it for a while, try the valvetronic system. I've never heard it or been in a car that had it, but I do know my dinan system droned and made cruising somewhat unpleasant.

So is this car tuned in the video or is the ECU/DME stock here... just trying to see if those burbles you get are stock or from a tune you got
No tunes, dme is unmodified.

I haven't heard mpe irl yet. Dinan has a slight drone but it sounds so deep and amazing.

Dinan axleback exhaust, correct!
