    The oil base is superior for sure. It penetrates so much more and lasts longer.

      It's great stain and the folks at Wood Defender have been at this a LONG time. They actually make their product rather than private label someone else's stuff so they have total control over quality. It doesn't hurt that they are great people too!

    Can you use this on gabled patio covers? I’m thinking about rolling/brushing it on. I think a weed sprayer would work but it will waste a lot of stain.

    Quick question. After cleaning a fence or a deck with chemicals how long should I wait till I can stain my deck with your product? 48 hours or longer?

    Hi! I started staining a portion of my cedar fence with a natural cedar tone. Unfortunately after I started I realize that color has too much of a orange undertone. So I wanted to know if there is a way for me darken the color with more brown undertone.

    • @SWiFence
      @SWiFence  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can always go darker--you can't go lighter. You'll want to contact the folks at Wood Defender directly with your color blending question: wooddefender.com/contact-us/

    The film they are adding to porous surfaces to prevent overspread, is that a product or just water?

    • @SWiFence
      @SWiFence  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They're wetting the non-porous surfaces with plain ol' water.

    What about on pressure treated lumber?

    • @SWiFence
      @SWiFence  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to make sure the pressure-treated lumber is cured first, which can take 3 to 6 months from the mill. But if that's the case--yes.

    How often does wood defender need to be reapplied?

    • @SWiFence
      @SWiFence  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 200 series has a 2-year warranty. If properly applied, it can last up to twice that long. So you're looking at reapplying every 2-4 years, depending on your fence.

      Thanks for the reply! I know WD makes their own line of equipment but for someone just starting off, is there a sprayer you’d recommend that was higher storage capacity but not a backpack (I’d imagine it’s be pretty tiring wearing that thing all day!)

    • @SWiFence
      @SWiFence  ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean if you're just starting out and you have access to power, they're bucket-top sprayer is pretty tempting. Otherwise their cart machine or an upgraded chemical sprayer work really well. wooddefender.com/equipment/
      We've got a video coming out this weekend where the guys are using the upgraded chemical sprayer and it worked real well.

    • @kylebaker8224
      @kylebaker8224 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok great, I’ll check it out. How do you go from job to job using the chemical sprayer with different colors each time? Wouldn’t you have to stop and clean it out between each job?

    • @SWiFence
      @SWiFence  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm, I don't do enough spraying to answer that comprehensively. I'm pretty sure you would have to, but they know you're going to be doing that on the regular so I'm pretty sure they've made it doable. The folks at Wood Defender can tell you for sure: wooddefender.com/contact-us/

    Will this harm the grass

    • @SWiFence
      @SWiFence  ปีที่แล้ว

      There will be discoloration of the grass at the base of the fence if the stain is applied by a sprayer. During the growing season, the grass should rebound within three to six weeks on an irrigated lawn.

    From this video, I observe that, with notable exceptions, fencing professionals tend to be 4"-7" shorter than the average American male. You'd think with the kind of work they do, they would stretch but apparently not. Or did they?

    Over $1,000 to do my small yard fence? Sorry, for 1 year coverage, I would rather put that into a new fence at this point. Looks like an amazing product, but no for me.

    • @stevenmoore3960
      @stevenmoore3960 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can spray about 150ft for about $1,000 but a 150ft fence will cost you about $5,000. A fence is just like everything else, if you don’t keep it maintained it will not take long for it to look bad.
