man.. there is absolutely NOTHING I can think of other than completely smooth calm water, blue warm skies... doesn't get any better than that... completely peaceful..... another great video.... and its always great to see the places that we have all been to many times.... have stayed there many times... going to your Cattail Cove video now, been there many, many times, I actually like that end of the lake better.. its calmer...

It all has grown so much. Buckskin was just a store at the bend in the river. We would spend weekends at LaPaz. I think that was a county park.

River Island, one of my favorite campgrounds. The first time two or three times we stayed there, before the improvements, it had grass between the campsites. It does have a boat ramp and a small but nice beach.
Love Buckskin. That trail that goes over the ped bridge is fun.
I plan to camp in Buckskin Mountain Park During the RTR 2020; and also, I was for a day and enjoyed the river two years ago... Thanks Russ for great video...!

Eating my heart out... I’m think Sept Oct for a trip out there. Blue sky every day... still nice and warm. No cold 20s and 30s. Might not want to come back!
I can back up to the panhandle of Nebraska to help my parents out do to age. We did not even get a fall. All winter. Snow and high winds none stop. Monday threw Saturday all snow. High winds for over a week straight every day. I mess it down there so badly. Thanks for sharing so much. I will be back. Take care.

Buckskin still looks the same after 25 years. If tent camping avoid setting up on the grass as there are fire ants and for some reason they really like the grass. The last time I was there, I tented on the hard pack and had no problems with ants, but it was 99 degrees at 12 pm. I slept on top of my sleeping bag, then a storm rolled in and rained which dropped the temp to about 75 degrees. You could literally here a collective sigh of relief thru the campground. Woke up next morning to about 1/2 inch of rain water in my tent, but it was the best sleep I had in a long time, by about 9am water was all gone and temps were back up.

There's a boat launch at river island. It was to the right, and the beach was literally down the stairs had you gotten out of the car.

I used to camp at Big Bend Resort CA across the river from Buckskin.
