Basically, the awards were all given out by the fans, and they had a 20% stake in picking the WOTY. The Panel had an 80% stake of choosing and because they all Unanimously picked Hustle, it meant Hustle had 80% which is greater thanJazz's 20v% (assuming Jazz had 100% of the fan vote which I don't think is the case).
Mickey Factz said it best. If the ppl on the panel aren't rappers then doesn't that make them fans as well?? So what's the difference between fan votes and panel votes??
The Champion fan vote could simply refer to fans of champions that have voted. The panel might be fans of battle rap but they are working on that Champion panel. The difference is the due diligence they have to put in and the scrutiny they’re under, as opposed to say me just putting in $2 and an anonymous survey 🤷🏾♂️

KEEP THE FAN VOTE SECRET UNTIL AFTER THE PANEL MAKE THEIR DECISIONS. This would likely lead to the panel voting in a way that naturally leaves it in the hands of the fans, and would certainly prevent any unconscious bias.

If there is an effective separation of the genders, then that would nullify intergender battles/themed cards. We have seen battles intergender battles be used in battlers annual resume, even sometimes helping them in their favorability. But if separated, those battles will pretty much be exhibitions with no weight on them.
Champion of the Year is genderless because it is trying to be equitable in order to boost the profile of women who are doing great work in the culture, but do not have the viewership of the mostly male audience. Of course, someone will argue that is what WOTY is for, however, if women strictly battled on women led platforms, and only battled other women, there would almost no money to make it lucrative or grow, bc mostly male audiences do not watch all of the women battles that happen in a year.
JJDD simply saying that women should start their own league, sounds great in the abstract, but realistically, I would love to see how that would be implemented. Champion!

I strongly disagree with JJDD. COTY is a "pound for pound" ranking across all demographics, age, gender, race, style, home town, league, etc. WOTY highlights the gender demographic, and just so happens to be produced by JayBlac and co. JJDD should create his own awards, best puncher, best angler, best male battler, etc. if he feels that strongly.

The WOTY lineup/ranking is BOTH fans AND panel , with the Panel having majority weight.
So even with your favorite winning with the fans.. if he/she leaves the door open enough with Other fans and the Panel they can lose out on the #1 spot. Look at Heisman Voting. EVERYBODY gets a percentage but its a TOTALS game.

I don't think the fans should decide who coty or woty is, here's why: A lot of fans don't have the URL app, which means that many of them don't have access to some battlers who are going to be among the top of those list. Example: most and many of Tay Roc, Twork, & Chef Trez battles aren't accessible 2 a lot of fans, which is one reason why Bigg K may have had an advantage when it came to the fan vote.(If i'm not mistaken, all of Bigg K's battles were accessible on youtube in 2023) Their peers(battle rappers, league owners, and Battle rap media) should decide who wins those awards.
I don't give a f who donated the most. My money is my money. If all money isn't appreciated then just let those high donors donate.

1.) is he willing to watch most of battle rap for a year and give knowledgeable insight on the panel without bias ?
