  • In this video, you will learn the 5 capacitor and capacitance equations you need to know for the MCAT. Alongside that, we cover how these apply to dielectrics, circuits, and parallel plate capacitors, what a farad is, how to calculate voltage, capacitors in series and capacitors in parallel as they apply to electrochemistry.

Thank you so much!! Also, I have one quick question. Is the Nernst equation important on the MCAT? Do I need to worry about it? Do you mind telling me what I should focus on involving Nernst? Thank you in advance!!

The way I've seen the Nernst equation come up on the MCAT is in questions that ask us to determine the Gibb's Free Energy (deltaG) of an electrochemical cell. I actually go over this version of the Nernst equation at the end of this video: th-cam.com/video/PscoxVdwkSk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=rYIbO-kgNsL9e0o1
Otherwise, it's just good to know that the full Nernst Equation can help us identify the variables that can affect the overall cell potential - I've never seen an AAMC equation that would ask you to calculate this, but it's always good to have a conceptual understanding of the relationship between the variables!
