Was a great battle report and i love the attitude od DC especially enjoying playing the game even what the odds turned against him. Any sign of those insidious Alpha Legion anywhere?
Loving the battle so far - beautiful armies as always. As a Thousand Sons player I'm going to chip in on the psychic powers - telepathic hallucinations states: "A unit that suffers one or more hits from a weapon with this special rule must take an immediate pinning test, adding one to the result of the roll for each hit scored by this attack before the result is decided". As the attack doesn't try to modify leadership downwards, being stubborn does not have an effect and the Grave Wardens should have been pinned. Also - telepathic fugue only lasts for a phase and can only be cast once per turn, I think on Ultramarines turn 2 it was used in the movement phase and assault phase (but I may have misunderstood). Loving the Heresy content, please keep it up.
@@SNBattleReports - I'm halfway through the report, next time I'll save my comments to the end in case you catch it in the report/ so I can look through the comments to see if someone else has already said something (I usually avoid the comments section so I don't get spoilers 🙈).
I'm 12 minutes in and I'm already really annoyed at myself for only just discovering this channel!! Superb intro and awesome story as well. Very excited for this one! (Come on Morty!!) Still finding my feet with Heresy so I'm sure you guys will be able to help, I'm playing a game this evening my Wolves with Russ against Horus and his legion!!
At 1:00:00 you generate all the wound pools before rolling out the saves, but you can't do all the initiative steps together as casualties at higher initiative steps would not be able to swing at lower initiative steps. Instead you have to do the wound pool for each step separately. In this case the 1 rending LC attack should have been done before all the I1 fists/hammers/axes and would have killed the 1 wound Fulmentaris before he could swing.
Great battle report, as a DG player myself was cheering for DC for sure! I think DC forgot in the melee with Guilliman that Deathshroud have 3 wounds instead of 2. Also, not sure if the veteran squads are really woth it. More heavy support squads is probably the way to go with DG, especially lascannons, volcite or autocannons with siege breaker. A fun squad I also tried is 10 support squad in a rhino with 10 alchem flamers, can work pretty well against the right target, surprusingly good against dreadnoughts also. DCs dreadnought that died from the dreadnought explosion should have also exploded into the rhino. Fleshbane also wounds dreadnoughts also on 2+ but successful wounds have to be rerolled. That said, I also have had a rough time so far of making the destroyer squads wok, haven't found a good way to be honest.
In Pardo's first turn when DC failed the 2 saves against the scorpius, he would have been able to re-roll those because his Cataphractii termies have the 'heavy' keyword. Love the content lads!
Hallucination does not modify leadership stat. It modifies the roll, thus not being affected by stubborn or inexorable. Although this would be a good opportunity to house rule that power though because I think stubborn should work.
Nice game. Poor ol’ DC and his rolls - it wasn’t even close! I think the Fulmentarus would not have inexorable for that big Ld test - the Librarian is not in cataphracti and you need ‘all models’ with it to apply?
Hey Mr.Pardo! The bikes imo are best with volkites. They are like mobile volkite heavy support support squad and are very efficient in chewing infantry and rhinos
Do you think the Jetbikes do better with Volkites/Heavy Bolters because the enemy sees them as less of a threat so they can survive longer and have more impact or with plasma/melta? I've found every time I run more expensive weapons on them they just get focus fired down too quickly to earn their points back because they are seen as a threat that has to be dealt with quickly.
Best load out is Volkites. using them as a back line jump style unit to get those best lines of fire is great also the more range the better means you dont have to get close with melta and die
So I use them in a mass deep strike night lords army with melta it’s two 12 man night raptor squads 3 javlines destroyers and then the bikes it’s the least scary of the lot so they generally live and get to delete a tank or two
fleshbane on dread would wound on 2 but have to reroll. plus when Girlyman assualted you could have used your second reaction to stand ground so no bonus attack.. Granted with your rolling the out come would have been the same.
wow Mr Pardo rubbing salt into the wounds! old DC should ritually burn the bone dices in front of Neptune at this point! great fun you guys! so good also using scenario pieces as objectives! #SNvets4crates #breakDCcurse #40ksubsroundthecorner
Always thought putting DG heavy weapons squads in a Rhino is a neat idea as they can disembark without penalty and it might protect them for a turn or two. Plus missile launchers seem sub-par to lascannons/volkites/plasma-cannons. Then you can use the search ligh on the Rhino to illuminate. Think you might need more heavy support squads for more firepower.
Actually they would be snap shooting if they disembarked, the Remorseless rule says 'as long as the model has not Run or used another alternate form of Movement in the controlling player's Movement phase, it is counted as Stationary..' Disembarking is an alternate form of movement as listed further up in the rule, along with deep striking and activating jump packs.
By the way you need all moddles in the unit to have inerxonable or heavy to benefit from the rule so the ultramarin terminators failed the test agisnt the death guard Terminators because the librarian didn't have the rule so they won't benefit from inerxonable.
Also, Pardo, you need to give poor DC a clinic of list building. I felt bad for the death guard the second I saw the lists. Even doing your very best to throw away your fulms couldn't save the game. Also guilliman gets an extra attack for having two specialist melee weapons
@SNBattleReports so I notice a few occasions where you didn't think it was turn 1 when shooting the grave wardens the nuncio vox only allows a reroll doesn't confer the benefits of LOS
