  • I made the women’s Constellation pullover & hoodie and the men’s equivalent, the North Star, for my son. Giving him a gift is my Mother’s Day gift! Sewing-wise, I am sharing how to sew the lined hood and half zipper and as a bonus: my fully lined version with a full zipper.

    Watching zipper insertion, love the added "zipper garage". In cold weather we love a good zipper garage at the neck to keep the cold zipper enclosed and away from our skin.

    Karina, So nice for your son to model his hoodie for you. The hoodie looks so good on him. You look so good in yours , as well. Love the prints/fabrics, too. Thank you for showing many methods and tips that are so valuable. The idea of putting a pleat in the lining is so smart. I am sure I wouldn't have thought of doing that with this type of fabric. I hope you had a very Happy Mother's Day. Take care.

      Thank you so much! I do the pleat in all my lined jackets and blazers. This lining had less stretch than the main so I thought it was important too :)

    Nice to see your beautiful smile. You have said that you are in a rural area in Brazil and thus a little safer from the COVID19. Here in Vancouver Canada, our numbers are decreasing and many restrictions still exist, few businesses open but we can go outside to parks now. Anyway, are we not lucky to have our sewing hobby. Thanks Karina for all you do!

    Out of all of the items that I have sewn, I have never sewn a hoody. This tutorial was very inspiring. My grandson is staying with us for awhile and he loves hoodies. My husband ordered saddlebags for his motorcycle which came bagged in lovely "sweatshirt fleece"--enough fabric to make sweatpants and a hoody. I drafted a pattern from one of his hoody's. By watching your tutorial, I pretty much knew what to do and how to go about doing it. This was so very helpful. Thank you. He loves his "sweats".

    It is fun to sew for others...your son is handsome..the hoodies are lovely...there are a lot of parrots..when I lived in the country..there was a woodpecker living in the tree by my bedroom. I miss him sometimes since moving to town...needed to be closer to my daughter while recovering from an accident....need to get my sewing room set up...your attention to detail is good..from Tennessee..Happy Mother's Day..

    Karina, I want to say that watching your videos has helped me solve a problem today. I was making a dress with a split neck (have never done this before) and I had difficulty making all the places line me where the facing would be turned to the inside. So I thought for a long time how to make this simpler and easier to do. You have inspired me and given me confidence too so I could solve this sewing problem. Thank you for being you and Happy Mother's Day

      @@rosannesahai7604 Not here where I live on Vancouver Island. If I saw 4 parrots in a tree, I would think they escaped from a sanctuary. lol Bald eagles - they are all over the place and were watching them feed from the tide pools and fly to their fledglings in the nest today.

    This is the perfect video that I needed. I want to make a lined hooded quilted jacket. It will be made out of pieced cotton with no stretch. I want to use the constellation pattern. Do you think if I sized up one size it would be adequate? You have the nicest videos. I appreciate them. You are such a sweet girl!

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would be uneasy telling you that a woven will be ok for this pattern. You really do need some horizontal stretch for it.

    Hello, I have a question about the interfacing. I am using a polar fleece and ribbed knit for the waistband and was wondering if SF101 interfacing is okay to use on a knit type fabric for the zipper area or do I need to use an interfacing for knits? I wasn't for sure still learning what to use and what not to use when sewing garments. Thank you for all your videos they are very helpful. Tammy

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The point of the interfaced area is to eliminate the vertical stretch of the fabric, so you don’t need a knit interfacing for that purpose. You can use a non stretch interfacing.
