I’ve never doubted you! The first time I saw you lunge Risey I said “ooh I bet that’s a new trick to help his wobblers or to get him exercise”. I immediately knew that no matter why you were doing it, it was because it was good for Risey. Plus Risey looks like he likes it! And you’re very nice to him. Whenever he stops at the gate or gets distracted by the camera, you just wait and get him to focus again. You’re never mean or impatient with him! You are truly such a wonderful caretaker!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Risey is a willful teenager , you know the type" but mem I don't wanna do that" but the lunging helps his body more than he knows , it helps him adjust to how his body is moving and how to control it also keeps his muscles healthy
You can tell he loves "playing" with you, Yvonne! That turning opposite direction trick was to test you & say, "HA HA HA Mem ... watch THIS!" 😂🤣😂😆❤❤ I love you Risey. 🎉❤🐴🐎🐎🐴🌬💋
He also seems to be figuring out HIS body and how to work with it as it is today and fine tuning for the future…really amazing to watch him learn how to work within himself…he is so smart and really using the training time to his advantage…👏🏻👏🏻 like a person learning a new physical skill by thinking it through carefully in practice until it becomes automatic in the chosen sport….wonderful! ❤
Yes, Risey is "gate sour". All young or untrained horses usually do this. You are doing the best thing for him by catching him early and stepping into his hind end to push him through it. You have very good hands (a light touch) and he is responding well. I know you will have him balanced and strong before you know it! Braaf.....Bravo!!!
Risey seems quite intelligent and very sensitive. Maybe the water is a bit cold for him. I remember that he is still young and new to training. Well done Yvonne and Risey. ❤❤❤
I'd think Risey keeps stopping by the gate and that corner of the arena in general as he has positive associations with it. That's where he was fed a lot, thats where he's either given freedom to run around the arena or taken inside to the warm comfy stable. He's not daft, he knows that corner is a "good safe place" so he'll always want to go that way. simples really 🙂. You can tell he's growing stronger, esp in the hind end which should help the wobbler symptoms. We trust your judgement Yvonne, you know what you're doing ❤
Risey certainly enjoys the 1:1 time with his human mem! The happy snorts and cheeky moments are my favorite - he truly loves you and trusts you completely, Yvonne!🥰

So interesting watching Risey adapt to what you wanted him to do. He's a willing boy and it is funny when he thinks he can trick you, I think he likes learning and it makes the bond with you even stronger Yvonne.😀

Risey is the star 🌟 for today's video! He seems to be getting better and better at lunging. And I think he does love playing with Yvonne. He's always been sensitive about his backside since a foal. But today, he's scared because he can't see the hose from the back, lol. Good job!

Braaf is used to tell an animal 'well done', it means good, well behaved but also obedient. In old Dutch its meaning was more closely related to brave, but nowadays it's not often used for people except slightly ironically or teasingly, because of the association with obedience. My grandmother half a century ago would call me a 'braaf meisje' = a good, well-behaved, obedient girl, and consider it a compliment. Nowadays that's not so common anymore, since people value independence more than obedience, even girls.
Thanks to Janet, for good breeding choices, to UNIEK,for raising him, with gentle love..and lots of good Friesian milk....and Yvonne, for never giving up!
Risey looks fantastic. Sure he tries a little to test you, but you do a fantastic job at directing him. If you mainly lunge Risey, you could consider a cavesson. It is a much more effective and useful tool for lunging. That way, directing with the lunge line and the connection of the bearing reins to his bit can be separated. I think it is important in the beginning that he can balance himself out. He probably finds this even more difficult than youngsters without wobbler. But I am sure you have the patience. You could try to not lunge him in the circle next to the arena entrance, but maybe in the upper half of the arena. The tendency to pull towards the gate might still be there, but maybe not as much. Also, if you think he is more secure on his legs and has a good feeling for balance, you can slowly start using your entire arena, also the straight lines for lunging. Then you can probably also be stricter about the correct shape of the figures you want him to do. If he is progressed more, maybe even driving from the ground. This might be also quite good for his wobbler, as it frames his left and right side better with two lunges/long reins instead of just one. Just some suggestions and my two cents.

I think it means good. You exercise him to improve his gate it helps reinforce brain leg connection. He is a beautiful horse. 😊I am so glad you decided to give him a chance.🎉
I think Risey is getting even more handsome. His brain is being challenged and he just looks sharper. He doesn't seem to like being hosed with water though.
My trainer taught me to hold my whip at arms length and point to the hindquarters. The horse can easily see. If the horse “fell into” the circle, I would point to the shoulder area and say out. Watching Risey, have you tried keeping the whip behind him as he goes to his corner? Some of this is young horse , new skill. I also was taught to point the whip low for walk, mid hock for trot and up to withers height for canter. And like you, pointing down to stop. I never laid my whip down. My friend was seriously injured doing that when her horse spun and kicked her. Be careful. You are an amazing trainer and equestrian. All your horses are blessed to have you.
What fun to see you lunge Risey! He does enjoy it. You can tell by the set of his ears and how he looks to you for instructions. I will say he is acting like a schoolboy with his little antics! He is being just a bit naughty!! LOL I think "Braaf" is "well done".
Risey is such a personality, he is my favourite. With the gate issue, would having people including the camera person tstand somewhere else other than the gate area so there are not 2 distractions in one place.
Yvonne, he's so smart playing a game on you to trick you, but you are too smart for that. You let him figure it out for himself, and he did, and he got it. He really is a quick study. This training is just what he needs to get stronger, hide quarters, and improve his balance. He is also learning where his feet are. All of this is really good for him. Yvonne great job. Risey you did good. Good Boy. 🫂🫂 Yvonne ❤️🫂🫂 Thank you Vera for filming this for all of us. 👋👏👏👏
Risey is an ethical issue yet to be resolved. He is a horse beloved by everyone who has watched him over the years since he first came to the stall and now after being diagnosed with wobblers. As long as he is able to lead a good life, mostly free of pain, I would lunge him too. In fact, I would work with him to develop his strength and stamina and all of the things mentioned in the video. I am not sure why you are using the surcingle though. I thought you could be using it to develop his posture and improve his gait but I'm not sure about riding him. He could be dangerous to ride. I would do anything with him that doesn't worsen his condition. If the heel strikes become too bad and the pain insufferable then I would do what I had to do. Rising Star is what brought me to the channel...and he is a treasure to watch:-)
He reminds me of Arabs, a bit more high-strung than the other horses and has a mind of his own. I'm guessing despite several hose sessions, he's still nervous regarding the water but still trusts his owner enough to not threaten to kick or bite her. Still a precarious situation though, so it's smart that she did it outside, giving herself enough room to move and hose him down from a distance.
What a beautiful horse he has become! I cannot tell from the video -- is he bothered by his shadow at the turn? Maybe he doesn't like the letter H!! Have a good weekend Herdies!
I also had wondered about lunging him away from the gate/exit. Your explanation makes good sense, Yvonne. Did the same thing happen at Stal G in the indoor arena, with inexperienced horses? Maybe Risey goes in different directions at the gate end of your arena because he knows the other hoses (his herd) are out there somewhere and he wants to go to them. LOL maybe you need something like a quiver strapped to your back, so you can put the whip there instead of on the ground. My guess is that "Braaf" means something like "Bravo" - a word of encouragement. Also, Vera did a very nice job filming!
Sometimes I still find it hard to believe that this beautiful, elegant horse is the tiny orphaned foal Rising Star we all fell in love with. He's grown up so well ❤
Risey, is looking stronger, and I am not sure why he does that, he must have had the H sign knock into his hind leg long before you started lunging him. Now he is nervous of it happening again? Or it could be a big game to him! They are smart animals. Thanks for sharing Yvonne and Vera, great job on filming!
It's hard to tell from the camera angle but I think you may be getting forward of the "driveline" and that's why he's stopping some of the time. Again it may be the camera angle that is making me think this. He's so gorgeous I hope he makes a full recovery soon 💓
It's varies based on different context but generally, it's either excitement, frustration/dominance display or all combined. In this case, likely frustration as he isn't used to his neck being tightened nor his turning radius being limited.
Risey loves Yvonne, his human mem and teacher! He trusts Yvonne so much and I think he knows he's a celebrity horse, the way he looks into the phone camera and strikes a pose! We all love you and are very proud of you Risey! ❤
Risey is doing very well with the lunging. He is also very clever - and needs activities to keep his mind occupied. ❤😉❤ A short while after he first touched the letter H, it sounded like he did it again.... - like - ok, how many points for that? 😄
We say, "motion is lotion". Moving helps you keep moving. And he's a big horse already, he MUST learn manners! Plus helping his balance, and you can see if he is getting better or worse.
When he his hopping + tossing his head + acting up it really reminded me of a cowboy's horse out west on the great plains! He has that coloring too you know. But when he is mild mannered and well behaved I sort of dont see it. But when he is near that fence line than the wild cowboy horse defiently comes out! Maybe he has a bit of quarterhorse in his blood somewhere or else he thinks he does! ❤
Warmbloods by definition are cross-breeds between hot-blooded (finer boned horses) and cold-blooded horses (draft horses). The hot-blooded horses that went into the making of Dutch Warmbloods are Thoroughbreds, Arabian and Anglo-Arabian. The cold blooded horses were Groninger and Gelderlander. Anyways, the hot-blooded horses tend to be spirited, that's why warmbloods tend to sometimes favor them in terms of behaviour.
I would so love to see the Friesian Queen movie, also starring Rising Star.....I wrote to a well known author, with the suggestion of a book, with movie rights, still hoping that Yvonne wil lbe approached by somebody, with a good offer....but received no answer....
Hi Yvonne and crew 👋 I missed seen yr blogs for awhile.😢 I saw the pic of Risey and thought something was wrong with him. I saw ankle braces on front legs. (Sorry, I do not know the correct body part names.)😂 I hope this is another way to strengthen his walking. I hope yr clan has a Merry Christmas ❣️ 🤶🎄🎅🔔
Poor Risey, thought he would get to live a life of leisure, nibbling his favorite grasses, winking at the ladies, rolling in the pasture, munching on treats. But this is good for him, he can't afford to get fat & have his muscles get weak. A little work never hrt anyone, Risey!
😂 Risey heads to the exit, “Ok, mem. I’m good.” Such a handsome boy! ❤ He’s really so smart. Anything that helps his strength and coordination is stupendous now that he’s with more than 1 horse in the pasture. The lunging is controlled exercising so he doesn’t hurt himself. It really was great seeing him being able to run and frolic with the younger horses in the previous video.
Good job Yvonne by doing as much asRisey will allow you on each side that’s gonna be great because he still getting strengthened where 🐎 and I could be wrong, but I think the whole process for him is to help him strengthen his muscles. That way he can get better balance balancing I think y’all are doing great the two of y’all and I think you are Yvonne once you give him direction and a quarter to how much he can do he looks like he he let you know he will stop and you listen and you stop, which is I think as an animal lover, the best thing to do listen to the animal tell us and teach us about their bodies and their ailments❤❤our Prince is growing into a handsome young stallion

LOL maybe you need something like a quiver strapped to your back, so you can put the whip there instead of on the ground. My guess is that "Braaf" means something like "Bravo" - a word of encouragement. Also, Vera did a very nice job filming!
Risey is so handsome and clever! 😍😘❤
Im always a little amazed at how big he is next to you! Great filming by the way.👍🐴💙
Sometimes I still find it hard to believe that this beautiful, elegant horse is the tiny orphaned foal Rising Star we all fell in love with.
What a beautiful horse he is...He looks happy! I am glad you are working with him. I think he may teach him manners.
Maybe he stops at the gate, because like a true celebrity, he wants to give his adoring fans, and the paparazzi time to look and take photos... 👀 📸
It's hard to tell from the camera angle but I think you may be getting forward of the "driveline" and that's why he's stopping some of the time. Again it may be the camera angle that is making me think this. He's so gorgeous I hope he makes a full recovery soon 💓
Love to watch you work with the horses……just LOVE it!!! Why not try blinders on Risey when you lunge him, so he’s not distracted……just a suggestion 💖
This exercise is not only good for Risey's body, but it is excellent stimulation for his mind. He's one smart boy! 🥰
He’s a big boy now ! Almost higher than Yvonne 😂
Yvonne is 1.74m with shoes on, I believe.
Risey is so handsome!
Sometimes when Risey looks at the camera and shakes his head, I'm not sure if he is afraid, or he wants the camera to get BOTH his good sides!
It's varies based on different context but generally, it's either excitement, frustration/dominance display or all combined. In this case, likely frustration as he isn't used to his neck being tightened nor his turning radius being limited.
Risey is SO smart, honestly!!!!
Thank you for answering that Yvonne. I wondered too. I have a question also: How tall is Risey now?
Risey loves Yvonne, his human mem and teacher! He trusts Yvonne so much and I think he knows he's a celebrity horse, the way he looks into the phone camera and strikes a pose! We all love you and are very proud of you Risey! ❤
Risey is so very handsome, his pauses by the gate are odd though I couldn't try to explain why he does it!
Because like any good teenage schoolboy, he's fantasizing escaping class...😁
And have a great weekend everyone 🐴🐎🌅☃️🙏🏻💕
💙🍀💙🍀
Das Wünsche ich auch 😊😊😊
Risey is doing very well with the lunging. He is also very clever - and needs activities to keep his mind occupied. ❤😉❤ A short while after he first touched the letter H, it sounded like he did it again.... - like - ok, how many points for that? 😄
I noticed he quickly learned to avoid the "letter H", speeding up,to get past it!( "Nooo... that thing was abit scarey!" )
Risey loves to do anything with Yvonne except for of course Batman mask. I hope Risey is getting stronger with lunge
Risey definitely drifts at that one corner. I wonder if putting some of the ground poles on a diagonal there would help.
Risey should be the Hero in his own movie...such a gorgeous horse❤
I would so love to see the Friesian Queen movie, also starring Rising Star.....I wrote to a well known author, with the suggestion of a book, with movie rights, still hoping that Yvonne wil lbe approached by somebody, with a good offer....but received no answer....

Yes!! 💪🏼👍🏻🙏🏻💫💫💫💫
Risey is real smart !
Hi Yvonne and crew 👋 I missed seen yr blogs for awhile.😢 I saw the pic of Risey and thought something was wrong with him. I saw ankle braces on front legs. (Sorry, I do not know the correct body part names.)😂
I hope this is another way to strengthen his walking.
I really do love Rising Star, Yvonne and all the goings on at Stal H. But in particular I really do love Risey and Yvonne
🤎🐴🤎🐴🤎🐴🤎
Risey: I'm feeling the burn now; can I stop?
😀😃😁😁😆😅😂🤣
😊
Me : Okay, I'm good......😅
😂 Risey heads to the exit, “Ok, mem.
Generally, teaching a KWPN lunging is more challenging than to do it with a Fresian horse. Am I right??
Most likely, I think. KWPN horses have a little more fire than Friesians.
He does better every day, Miss Horse therapy ❤❤❤❤😊
Ooohhh..
I think he has improved. this is so cool. He's such a good boy and a happy horse. We love him.
Thanks for letting us spend some time with Risey. He's stunningly beautiful and working with him stimulates his mind. I know he will never be a show horse, but he will always be perfect to me. 😊🐎
I am glad to see that Risey seems to be moving much better and he looks great.
I loved our day with Risey!! ❤ thank you @Fresian Horses 🐎 😘 Gransma Sherry
5:23 Risey is so handsome and smart. His coordination continues to improve.
I rode a little Morgan cutting horse at the ranch i worked at, "Red" she had spirit, but, BOY she get that bit in her mouth & take off back to the stables when we did the hairpin turn going back!! 🤣😂🤣 what a ride she was!! ❤❤🐎🐎🐴🐴🐴🐎🐎
Sounds like a great time in your life, Sherry!
❤ What great memories to have! 👍👍👍
@janetmajor1152 Yes, it was ... Early teens + naivety + gullable!!! = time of my life 😂🤣😂🐴🐴🐎🐎
@Swampie419 OH yes and I wouldn't change a thing. Met my Best friend at 12 & we're STILL best friends today. We always went together to Ace High. I had the car & she had a horse.
@@sherrywebber4013 Thank you for sharing your life & memories 👍
Your blessings are raining right down on us 😄❤😘🙏
he is getting to know Yvonne and trusting her. his lil parlor tricks will lessen. Its a great exercise to help muscles stay stronger and limberI am hoping he can out grow his wobblers.
Water at the buttcheeks is forbidden by Risey 🤣 Head belly back OK. Feet... maybe. But no buttckeks! He is gorgeous... 🤩
As a neuro nurse, I will say that he may have altered sensation in his back end, just as he does in his rear legs.
@@cynthiabishop3836I wondered about that too
@@themigdalaki7931 maybe Yvonne should tell him all fancy French accent like, that it's a bidet...🤔
You never do something without a reason and as we can see Risey really likes it 😍
Wow a whole video of Risey! I absolutely loved every second, thanx Yvonne ❤ oh & Risey of course 😊❤
