    Excellent demonstration! We've integrated these Cisco devices into our Thirdlane Multi Tenant PBX setup, and the performance is impeccable. Much appreciated for sharing this informative content!

    I love these old Cisco phones, they have a very premium feel to them. I have one sitting on my desk rn (which I barely use 😅).

      Yes! They look and feel great. I'm not a huge fan of the new design of the 7800 or 8800 series. Fortunately, these 7975Gs work great with my PBX!

    Awesome demo. I’ve got over 8 of these connected to Chan_SCCP on my system, and I was wondering how you got the custom backgrounds? Thx

      I use the SCCP Manager module in FreePBX. When you add a new phone, there is a Background Image option. You specify an image there and the phone will grab it. I have an HTTP url that points to a 320x216 pixel PNG.

    Good luck finding SIP fIrmware for the Cisco phones, been trying to find a reliable source but no luck so far. Picked up on the predecessors to your phone some years ago for nothing, have my Free PBX ready to go but unless I find firmware we are at a standstill. I know about the security issue with the 7960 so don’t plan on feeding computers through the phone. Using a Grandstream 4 POTS lines adaptor in to Ethernet feed into the Free PBX computer.

      I found it somewhere, but I can’t find it again now that someone else asked about it. I ended up liking the SCCP firmware better anyway.

    Really intresting! I also have a 7975 , a 7942 and a Siemens OpenStage 40G. I'm planing to setup the phones around the home, but I have 2 questions. Currently I'm running SIP firmware on my 7975 (because the Siemens OpenStage 40G is SIP only).
    1. Is it worth it to switch over to SCCP (are there any advantages with SCCP over SIP)?
    2. Can I use Cisco SCCP Phones with other SIP phones or do they all have to be SCCP Phones?
    Thank you for the video!

      On the 7975, I find the SCCP firmware much better and less glitchy. It seems to offer more functionality as well, unless I'm missing a trick to get some things working on the SIP firmware. FreePBX will let you have both running at the same time. I have a mixed environment with some SCCP and some SIP devices. I wouldn't really recommend it though. There is some weirdness with DHCP and TFTP that I didn't have time to dig into and I had to create a separate VLAN for the SCCP phones with different DHCP options. It seems to be stable and reliable now.

      Thanks for the reply! I got chan-sccp and sccp manager running and it's great! I forgot I also have a 7960 too and the SCCP firmware on in works amazing! If you want to use SIP on the phones, there is the USECALLMANAGER patch for Asterisk, but I didn't get it to work. Thank you again for the video and for the reply!

    Some of Cisco's software (Not all) you just need to create an account and you will have access. Like the phone firmware, you can download that from Cisco as well without a support contract.

    Hello, is it possible for you to show me how to customize the screen image on my Cisco 7975 please? Or could you make a video showing how to do it, I await your response.

    I found two great phones (a 7942 and a 7970) that are for sale for 50$ close to me. I am gonna get them on the 15th. They have SIP firmware on them and at first I was happy about that but now that I am diving into the FreePBX and Cisco Phones world, it appears that the SCCP firmware would be way better. Now previously I had gotten a 7975 from eBay and I tried to upgrade the firmware on it with one of the firmware packages available online. I never got it to work and it went in the trash because it got stuck in the upgrade screen. If I get these phones, it seems like it would be better to install SCCP firmware on them but now I am scared that what happened to the 7975 before might happen to these too. Should I tell him I don't want the phones anymore and just find someone else that has the phones already with SCCP or should I risk destroying them and trying to install the SCCP firmware? I really don't want to have to use the SIP now that I see how much more functionality there is when you use SCCP.
    Also, it appears that the 7970 is kind of obsolete, so I don't think I am even going to be able to find firmware for it without Cisco's dumb support contract.

      If you get SCCP Manager working on FreePBX, it has an option to download various firmware images from their own server so you don't need a Cisco contract. It is at your own risk, though. I successfully went back and forth between SIP and SCCP on my 7975Gs using this method. Under System Parameters > SCCP Model Information, you can use the Update Files from Provisioner button to get firmware and localization files.

      @@G6TechnologyServices Wait, where exactly do I go in the sccp manager to find the firmware?

    • @G6TechnologyServices
      @G6TechnologyServices  ปีที่แล้ว

      I was wrong, there is no SIP firmware in there. It does let you download SCCP firmware, though. There is a button called "Update Files from Provisioner" under SCCP Connectivity (Menu bar) > System Parameters. It downloads from this GitHub repository: github.com/dkgroot/provision_sccp

    Any reason why internal calls (Extn to Extn) are ringing like they are external calls (ring tone on receiving phone is a double ring instead of a single longer ring)?

    • @G6TechnologyServices
      @G6TechnologyServices  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Probably something wrong on the server. If I make an internal call from a 7975G to a SPA50x series SIP phone, it shows the external DID number instead of the extension number. I haven't really looked into why it is doing that.

    Can i power it from standart wifi router?

    • @G6TechnologyServices
      @G6TechnologyServices  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, you would need the power adapter or a PoE switch. It also requires some kind of phone server. There are cloud providers, or you could set up your own.

  • @TrueNetworking
    @TrueNetworking 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    What voltage POE it needs to turn on?

    • @G6TechnologyServices
      @G6TechnologyServices  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Any standard PoE switch should work. Here’s what the manual says: Supports IEEE 802.3af PoE (Class 3). 48VDC is required; it can be supplied locally at the desktop using an optional AC-to-DC power supply (part number CP-PWR-CUBE-3=) or power injector (CP-PWR-INJ=).
