Better start saving up and staying alive then according to Elon Musk Mars will be colonized by humans as of 2040 if I do recall correctly.

    Mars Colony 1
    Day 421
I look around the colony (still small, still fragile, but steadily growing bigger and stronger). Hard to believe we've been here roughly one Martian year. I look forward to the day when Mars will know shades of green and blue, rather than being mostly covered with sand and oxidized rust. Terraforming is a slow process, one that encourages large amounts of patience. Rain that was once inconceivable here happens slightly more frequently. Rather like it does in places on Earth like Death Valley, the Sahara, the Gobi, and the Mojave (where, when the rain comes, the landscape changes drastically, wildflowers bloom in profusion after lying dormant, waiting many years for rain to fall from the usually arid skies). What will our Martian descendants think when they read, watch, and listen to reports and recordings of how Mars was when it was first colonized? Memories of a red planet will probably eventually become myths and legends. But, for now, the terraforming can't finish soon enough. I think we're all rather tired of the sandstorms, the sand getting into almost everything, the need for domes and EV suits, and so on. Still, we did choose to put the green and blue Earth behind us when we chose to join the Martian colony effort. If all goes well, Mars will become a beautiful, Earthlike world. If not, perhaps future expeditions will find our sandblasted bones and the remains of our colony's structures. My wife tells me that I'm entirely too negative, and that I should be more optimistic. Perhaps she's right. The comm band on my left wrist bleeps; I answer it. It's my wife. She's finished her science duties for the day; it's time for dinner back at our dome. I tell her I'll be there soon and end the call. I look up, imagining the two moons, Deimos and Phobos, orbiting Mars. What would authors like Edgar Rice Burroughs, Leigh Brackett, Ray Bradbury, Robert Heinlein, Kim Stanley Robinson, Lin Carter, etc. have thought had they seen this colony today? Would they say, "See? We told you it would happen one day. We're just sorry we didn't live to see it." I turn around and head back home. A Martian home. We might never be tall, slender, dark, and golden-eyed, but Martian we most definitely are.
    End daily report.

@@ArmchairAmbience Glad you liked it. Some music on TH-cam is more evocative than others. I don't usually write something influenced by music on TH-cam, but every so often I do, like today.

Well, WW3 isn't actually very likely to be fought with nukes due to fear of all sides. But if even one nuke is dropped... yeah... everyone in a developed country better make bunkers in woods.

Evocative as always. I was thinking along the lines of "Mars colony 1" myself. That you are able to steer our collective consciousness in the same direction makes you a talented Captain of imagination. Kudos!
    Onwards Captain! Ever onwards!
