Do you have a go-to focal length?
85 is perfect imo. Thanks for the vid. I swapped off of my 70-200 and use my 85 1.2 for bball and the shots come out amazing. Great choice
The 85mm f/1.8 manual focus on a full-frame was my personal favorite for basketball and boxing. I now have an 85mm f/1.4 auto focus, but I no longer shoot as much sports as I once did.
Oh, I would love a 85mm for boxing. I haven't shot boxing in years but an 85 would be so good!
My go to for bball has been 24-70, however picked up the 85 recently to play a bit with macro and really like it for doing a bit of that, I used so far for one hs game well lit gym with my r3 at f2 & not afraid to go high on the iso shot at 1200/1600, f2, 3/4000 iso, and I liked it, not slow, prime is fun to use, just concentrate on composition if you have the room etc / will be using it more for sports, which is my main focus also here on the west coast. I enjoy your low key photography TH-cam channel I’m subscribed. Cheers, KeithTPhotography
I have been using the 24-70 a good amount now that I have got it and I much prefer it over my 70-200! Yeah the R3, R6 and R5 handle the high ISO so well, I love it! Also, glad you enjoy the channel and thanks for subscribing! Much appreciated.
I love an 85, especially for basketball!
SAME!
I have used the ef 85 f1.8 but always set it to f2 for a little more depth. I find it is hard to use if the cheer squads are forcing you to move around away from the basket. If I had a 28-70 f2, I would be a happy camper lol Thx again
Yeah, the 85mm is going to be tough to use starting tonight. Here at Pitt the cheer and Dance take up both baselines so im either in the corner or under the basket if im on the court so not sure how much time ill get with the 85mm but we will see!
Thx for your vid
Thanks for watching!
85mm 🔥🔥
I agree
Do you have any studio with this lense?
I wish and maybe Ill get a chance soon to do some studio stuff. Ill put it on the list for a future video. It's a solid lens for the price. I use it for video often for the macro capabilities and its very good.
@DLivingston I'm souly going to use it in my studio. I shoot with the Canon EOS R5C with lense adapters for my ef glass. But capture 1 doesn't communicate with the ef adapters. So I have the 16mm, 35mm, & 50mm non L glass
Great videos I enjoy them
Hello Master :
Please help and give me some advice,
The camera I am currently using is Canon EOS R10,
The kit lens used with it is (RF-S18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM)
My main subject matter is toy photography.
The secondary shooting content is street photography or portrait photos.
Now I want to buy new lenses, after watching your video,
Want to compare between Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM and RF85mm F2 Macro IS STM
After making a choice, I would like to ask you to give me some advice on which lens is more suitable for me? Thank you.
I’m def not a master but I would say the 50mm would be the route to go. It’s cheap too so if it’s not a good fit, then you could rent the 85 and see how that goes.
@@DLivingston thanks for your reply🙏🙏🙏
What tracking mode did you use?
Spot and One-Point
@@DLivingston What case are you using?
I have the Ef f1.8 85mm usm, im curious if it is better on focusing compare to the rf f2 85mm stm?
From my experience the EF AF is faster for sports.
You are saying the old lens is better?
I feel like the EF version is better because of it being f1.8. Both have fast autofocus but id take the 1.8 over the f2 macro anyday. @@marlonisthegreatest
@@DLivingston thank you so much. It's way cheaper in the used market than the RF thanks!
@@DLivingston f1.8 vs f2 isn't a big difference. Could it be differences in the AF mechanism
