    A well-timed and well-placed low kick and front kick or teep are my favorite weapons against a good jab.

      I personally love slipping and countering but yeah a well place low kick can be a killer

    Spot on and explained perfectly.
    I use this to get into eye range for no rules techniques and arm control and wrist grabbing range in rules fighting arts.Shuts down attacks and lets you open their guard up to strike them. Have to practice live drills until able to do it against full power strikes though. Thanks for video

    As a kickboxer the jab is easy to deal with,leg kicks oblique kicks,basically fuck that leg up as they need to put weight on that lead leg,boxing wise as a southpaw right hook or left straight on counter as most people don’t have proper technique for a job anyway

    I would like to see a video on rhythm in kickboxing and boxing, how are they different? Thank you, coach.

    This was a good reminder of how I can deal with a new person with a traditional boxing background in my sparring group who's been messing me up with his jab. Also, is this the first video where Matt has spoken?

    thank you! Does it matter what hand parries? and what if its closed vs open stance

    • @tanthai2335
      @tanthai2335 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It matters because the hand you use gives you different opportunities.
      If you parry their left hand with your right hand, you have your left hand ready to defend their right hand. But its a bit harder to throw some strong counters; your parrying hand has less power and your left hand will usually be trying to defend their other hand.
      Basically left-on-right parries and right-on-left parries are safer but you get weaker counters.
      Right-on-right parries leave your left hand to throw a big counter very quickly, vice versa with left-on-left.
      BUT, it leaves one side of your face open so if they feint or double up, you might eat a shot
      Closed vs Open stance is a lot harder to answer.

    does the parry-and-shoot work the same way for a lefty fighting a righty? or would i parry with the lead hand and fire off with the cross instead?

    You can parry the jab and counter with your only jab. Terence Crawford use this to win a lot of his fight. Manny Pacquiao use this to beat Keith Thurman. I see this happen a lot in south paw vs orthodox.
