But I watched PN last week for the first time and read the entire thing in two days, and this is the content I didn’t realize I needed. I’m REALLY looking forward to the in depth manga analysis! Hi! I just wanted to say that I have a really similar story to yours. After watching the 12 anime episodes over a single night, I read all the way to the Ayshe backstory chapter and continued to read the chapters as they came out weekly. I had a deep and fond love for the series and could tell it was full of amazing things, all of which I had no doubt would be continually explored in the introquit way it already was being explored. Then came the arc where Emma and Ray were exploring the seven walls. This arc was the first time I noticed an actual quality dip. To me, it seemed like Shirai meant this arc to be Ray's last conflict in his character arc right before the finale. And in a way, it was. But still I felt there was more guilt to Ray's character which Shirai wanted to explore. For example, we had the skeletal children and Isabella chasing him. Which, after finding out that this place took what Emma and Ray were subconsciously thinking about, we realize that Ray is absolutely haunted by the deaths he believes he caused; those being all the gracefield kids he never told the truth to, and his own mother Isabella who I felt Ray had a soft spot for most of the story (hints to this are when he goes to her for comfort after connecting the dots about GF being a farm or when his first instinct to getting a camera was to take a picture of Isabella) For the rest of the story, I fell like this was dropped. I have to say I was incredibly disappointed because we never really got to see Ray move past his guilt which was obviously on his character throughout the story. And more, Ray gets his reunion with Isabella which is honestly something I've been dying to see whether via a dream or in reality. Isabella was the only character Ray thought he truly killed through his own action. Yes, his inaction killed multiple gracefield kids because he never told them it was truly a farm. But for Isabella's case, he knew his action of getting Emma to escape was going to be the death of Isabella and moreso, Isabella knew this as well. So isabella knew Ray was actively trying to kill her while all the gracefield kids would never know that Ray could have warned them. And moving to a kind of different note, Yuugo, to me, felt like Shirai's, "Here. This character that's filled with regret and has almost gone insane, is what Ray would turn into I'd he didn't have at least Emma like how Yuugo had Lucas and then eventually, Yuugo even learned that he could love new people who turned out to be all the kids" and this dependent relationship is even mirrored when Emma disappears in Ray's arms and Ray instantly starts losing himself and decaying. But then we don't get a final resolution. Ray for the rest of the story just seems fine like his whole regret arc that was clearly hinted at, would never finish and didn't even matter that much in the first place. I would have loved if he had a full alone scene with Isabella where she could finally tell him he's not to blame. No individual is. It was a situation in which no one person could ever blame themselves because the world had already adapted to a society in which the humans were set up to die unfairly. You can't be blamed for a system you don't have control over. All you can do is push yourself to change the system, work until you've found a way to make sure the system doesn't hurt anyone else. That was a key theme that ran throughout all the characters of the promised neverland. But regret for something you don't have control over was easily Ray's biggest conflict and I desperately hope it's explored more through the anime. Anyways I hope that all made sense lol. I love The Promised Neverland and I absolutely love analyzing it. Ray's character was definitely just one of my favorite things about the story and idk maybe eventually I'll get to speak to other fans about some of the other things that were sadly left out of the story and our thoughts on how they were meant to be resolved :) have a good new year!!!!
3:12 Those comment sections is what got me to collect the volumes. So at any point, I could scream with realization and go digging through past volumes. Once my collection is finished, I plan on donating it to my old high school library as their manga section hasn't been updated in like a decade.
PLEASE keep on doing TPN videos omg I agree to everything you say, I'm completely obsessed with TPN but I agree. I feel like the overall idea was good, but they rushed it so much!!!
Just finished reading the series last night (after having watched the anime the week before christmas and deciding that I instantly needed to see the rest...). Definitely agree that although i thoroughly enjoyed it the whole way through, everything from like... post-Goldy Pond, I guess, started to feel a little too expedited and the last few arcs didn't stick the landing as much as I'd have hoped. From the introduction of more and more uneventful fast travel to missing or dropped mysteries as discussed in the video. Will be interesting to see if some of these things are handled differently as the anime goes on :)
Wow, such a great video!!! Agree with you on almost everything. The story had a very strong skeleton but definitely lacked the meat. Also yes i too think that the harsh weekly schedule got the better of Shirai. I'm certain tpn would've maintained it's quality if it were to be published in a monthly magazine. The side stories were truly a very great example of that since they showed what Shirai truly is capable of and that The Gracefield arc wasn't just a fluke.
Naruto anime did the extra world building with their filler arcs/episodes, some times. One of the filler arcs introduces the Six Tails Jinchuriki and at the end of the arc he is captured by the Akatsuki to take out the Tailed Beast. On the manga the first time that the Six Tails Jinchuriki is introduced is during the Ninja War arc where all the Jinchuriki get brought back to life. If they can do the same with The Promised Neverland, I would LOVE it! When I finished reading the manga I just felt like I needed more. I had almost the same feeling as to when I watched Rokka no Yuusha. The whole story up to the very end was great and had me hooked, and then the end happened... and it just felt Meh. So much potential :/ Fingers crossed we get so much more out of the anime coming up.
I'm glad to see you talking about the promised Neverland! It was the reason I initially followed you and I'm so hyped for season two!! If it is my place to give advice/criticism/feedback/whatever you want to call it, I notice a lot of times when you make jokes you backtrack and kind of explain them in a lower tone of voice. I recognise that response in myself, but it kinda breaks up the flow of the video if that makes sense at all? I hope you'll get comfortable with this enough to just be a little weird from time to time without being embarrassed of it or explaining it. Anyways, good luck with your next video and happy holidays!
Thank you someone finally has brain cells Jesus Christ I don't get it the series is good s tier anime the ending is great the character development is great and apparently it didn't follow the manga 🤦🏿♂️

Lbr having a profit-driven company be the one to make decisions about how long a piece of media should be and when to axe it completely. I've been reading through "completed" shonen jump series, and just when you're like "Oooh this is getting real good, I can't wait to see where it goes next" and then the sinking feeling when you realize the next chapter is the very last one and a punch to the gut with the most unsatisfying ending that usually is super rushed and explains everything with a quick "everyone is happy now!" or whatever epilogue. Like the artists/writers had somewhere to go with it, you can tell, but because their series was cancelled or wasn't given that many chapters to begin with, it leaves you with a sour note. There's so much lost potential in things like this.
Yo wait I need to know your theory on Minerva like yesterday. I jumped into this series only a few weeks ago but I'm hooked and also super on edge because I know things go downhill but I don't know when and I am living on theories right now lol
The wiping Emma's mind once they got the human world was BS they did all of that work to then be like oh you can go to the human world but you'll not know who you are until the very last page Bs

Wow, even though this was a video mostly about how the manga kinda fell off, I forgot how enthralled I was with the anime and might read it??? 👀 ty Yazy for the chill vibes and hot takes (that I probably would agree with after I finish the manga)
While I was reading the manga I was thinking it would be cool if lambda got a movie to itself, though that might not give it enough time to develop everything it needs to
I do agree with you it was very rushed . But I did like the part when they had me thinking norman was dead and ray was about to burn himself to ashes. Then Emma was gonna have a break down and get trapped in the house fire. So then don and gilda lead everyone. Then in season 2 they make a deal with a demon..
I thoroughly enjoyed the manga until the very end. I think it certainly works better as a binge read. The final few arcs are a big fast paced climax so it feels right to read them quickly, I can understand why it’d suck to read it weekly though. I was at least satisfied, although I wish the creators were given more time to fulfil their vision properly. I honestly think it could’ve rivalled classics like Fullmetal Alchemist with a bit more time to polish it.
The fast pace of s2 so far (up to ep3), makes me think that the anime will unfortunately go faster rather instead of slower than the manga :(( i am still, like yazzy, holding out hope that this is just for the forest arc
so I'm anime only, but I think I figured out how to summarize why manga readers specifically are mad at the second season of the anime: instead of addressing, reworking or fixing the mangas problems, it decided to do its own thing, and ended up creating entirely new problems. Is that a good way to sum it up? naturally, an anime only like me has other reasons to take issue with how the anime has been going...
I completely agree with this video. The manga ending is a bittersweet one. While everyone did get to live in peace but what was the point of doing all of this if you can't remember anything? This ending really came out of left field and the last few panels in the final page is so dry. What a shame I just hope the enemy can do something different next week because the ending is so important this series was great but ruined by a bad ending.
I would say pissed off but that was how ep 4 made me feel. I think ep 5 just made sad because the season is half over already. How can they possibly make the final 6 episodes meaningful? I want to be surprised but I've pretty much lost all hope.
You guys are complaining too much. The story wasn’t even rushed and the pacing was fine. When I read it, I didn’t have no problem. I do agree that the ending could of been better, but the story was not rushed. I do wish that we had an arc with them in the human world together, but other then that the manga is good and it is probably the best manga I’ve read.
I agree, I only got bored with some of the demon back story before the fight with the queen. It was hard for me to care for it when I know most of them were going to die and I just wanted to know what was happening with the human characters
I can understand how people would be disappointed after the escape arc, but I didn't mind the ending so much. The only thing I wanted was a little more time with the characters after 'the reunion'.
Guess I should read the manga again.... I was soooo desperated to know more and more about the story that I missed most of the tiny, little mindbending details
Ya know, having seen the most recent episode this actually could happen. I thought it might not change up the manga that much, but already right off the bat the anime is starting to diverge from the path of the manga, so I'm interested to see what they do with it
Man im so sad after watching the first 5 episodes of the 2 season. I loved the anime so much like it was my favorite anime of all time and it had so much potential and then they ruin it like this- i was so exited for the new season and my exitement was followed by disappointment Edit: hey, episode 6 doesn't look THAT bad, I mean it's still pretty bad but it's also not the worst
i really wanna have you yell theories at my face. I loved this series (only picked it up after they finished the recent side story though). and like throughout i'm just having so many death note vibes but at the same time wondering wtf why are all these plot threads missing. i don't really have my own theories but like i'd love to have you tell me all yours yee *ez sub*
I feel like a lot of good Shonen Jump series get the “rush the ending or die” treatment. Case in point: around the time Neverland was ending, a similarly speedy end arc was delivered in Haikyuu. (I know it may have been caused by different reasons but the facts remain the same)
First I must say that I mostly agree about FMA2003 and PNL... but, I like to combine the storylines and events of both FMA anime, and feel that somewhere between would be best. PNL it was up until the resolution of demon human relations that I was loving all of the story... OK thats not fully true S2 ends more or less where I started caring about the series again after about 5-10 chapters past the escape. Character intro's aside that location they go to and character they interact with was boring as hell as all I wanted to know at that time was more about Demon society. Where I expect S3 to cover will be my fav part that ends on one of the best cliffhangers... Then the F'n time skip happens and well I already mention that part being lack luster. Manga Spoilers ahead My first impression of its ending was that it was dukey... but, after thinking about it objectively I saw that it could not end another way. Basically the Author narratively was backed into a dark alley by their own story and left to deal with the consequences. Everyone thats played Undertale gets that Pacifist route sucks at times because of what options for resolution are left you. My favorite character from start to finish was by a land slide Ema only her friends we meet in S2 come close.

Which, after finding out that this place took what Emma and Ray were subconsciously thinking about, we realize that Ray is absolutely haunted by the deaths he believes he caused; those being all the gracefield kids he never told the truth to, and his own mother Isabella who I felt Ray had a soft spot for most of the story (hints to this are when he goes to her for comfort after connecting the dots about GF being a farm or when his first instinct to getting a camera was to take a picture of Isabella)
For the rest of the story, I fell like this was dropped.
That hoodie is fantastic.
Was not aware they've revealed the contents of Ray's note. 👀
This FMA 2003 slander is a crime and I will not hear of it
Thank you someone finally has brain cells Jesus Christ I don't get it the series is good s tier anime the ending is great the character development is great and apparently it didn't follow the manga 🤦🏿♂️
I'm just glad the kids finally get to be happy and just live there lives
I can't be the only one wanting a multi hour video of your screenshots with detakled comments on the meaning.
For me the thing that felt like it was missing was the inevitable conflict between Mujika and Sonju.
This video did not age well after episode 4 of Season 2
and episode 5 topped it. Now it's definitely doomed.
@@abstractmonstrosity6757 Lmao yeah, I literally wrote this before I watched episode 5, if only I knew
@@toutito2298 man it's sad. the constant frustration I'm dealing with because of this too.
Anime onlys kept blabbering on about how the mangaka was supervising it and saying shit like "it's going to be fine because the mangaka's helping with it!"
Manga readers knew from episode 1 that this wasn't gonna go too well but it went WORSE.
Anime onlys rn: I cried when Norman came back!
Me: Same, but not for the right reason.
@@abstractmonstrosity6757 Lmao Ikr. I'm pretty sure the author just wants the series to be over with, and it's sad, I can't express how disappointed I felt that we weren't getting the godly pond arc and Yuugo. At this point just don't make a second season if it's gonna be that shit, the author kinda fucked the end of the manga so now he's just tryna make sure the anime is fucked as well? I don't get it.
@@toutito2298 Never related more to a conversation on internet than this lol I'm honestly excited about what she'll say on the whole topic of the S2 since, well this clip didn't age well. And on the side note, from what I've heard the mangaka barely had any decisions made during the creation of season 2,they mostly just asked for permission when all the changes were made..apparently
I binge-watched this anime (and I am just starting my anime journey) in one day with no breaks....so into this and so excited!!!
Sweet, sweet comment interaction: loving your hair!
I'm to lazy to try and keep up maintenance for something like that
Your analysis is so detailed! Love your videos :)
I've been waiting for this video for so long 😊😊😊
Yo wait I need to know your theory on Minerva like yesterday. I jumped into this series only a few weeks ago but I'm hooked and also super on edge because I know things go downhill but I don't know when and I am living on theories right now lol
This hurts so bad now :)
The wiping Emma's mind once they got the human world was BS they did all of that work to then be like oh you can go to the human world but you'll not know who you are until the very last page
Bs
That's the price Emma had to pay to help everyone, it makes sense
@@syrupdf3948 yeah, but I just don’t understand why that was the consequence
@@sagetheanimage970 to save the ones she cared about, she has to let them go. she forgets the battles she fought with them, the bond they had, just so that they can live happily.
I MISSED YOUR VIDEOS YAZY ;w; YAY! MERRY HOLIDAYS!
Who’s here after season twos finale
Isabellas lullaby at the end-😢😭.
.....
(Or I think it is ,I haven’t heard the whole thing yet. Sooo rn I think it’s 100% isabellas lullaby).
:)
Wow, even though this was a video mostly about how the manga kinda fell off, I forgot how enthralled I was with the anime and might read it??? 👀 ty Yazy for the chill vibes and hot takes (that I probably would agree with after I finish the manga)
Are you going to make a video about how you feel about season 2 going a different direction?
manga reader here! I would be very happy to see every theory you have on this series. 👀👀👀
Nil after season 2 came out I was disappointed they missed out so many things that they put in the manga
Yazy is a good role model
So....are we gonna talk about how optimism is all but futile after seson 2 episode 5?
While I was reading the manga I was thinking it would be cool if lambda got a movie to itself, though that might not give it enough time to develop everything it needs to
Looks like season 2 skipped Goldy Pond
I do agree with you it was very rushed . But I did like the part when they had me thinking norman was dead and ray was about to burn himself to ashes. Then Emma was gonna have a break down and get trapped in the house fire. So then don and gilda lead everyone. Then in season 2 they make a deal with a demon..
Ok, this didn't age well. I think this is the worst anime adaptation ive ever watched
Berserk 2016
We don't have "this stuff" here in Tasmania, we have a competent state government, although our federal leader is NOT.
season about to cover, in my opinion, the best content the manga has
Holy fuck how is that croconana so big
I really hope they develop Phil's character and utilize what they had in the first season as well as the points you and Mother's basement about him..
About that manga analysis series... Do it... DOITDOITDOITDOITDOOOOOOOOIT.
Well here's hoping then ~☆
The fast pace of s2 so far (up to ep3), makes me think that the anime will unfortunately go faster rather instead of slower than the manga :(( i am still, like yazzy, holding out hope that this is just for the forest arc
so I'm anime only, but I think I figured out how to summarize why manga readers specifically are mad at the second season of the anime: instead of addressing, reworking or fixing the mangas problems, it decided to do its own thing, and ended up creating entirely new problems. Is that a good way to sum it up?
naturally, an anime only like me has other reasons to take issue with how the anime has been going...
just finished the manga and remembered that there was a video i avoided about the ending a few weeks ago
Bro tbh the ending made me cry idk why but to me it was so sad😅
I completely agree with this video. The manga ending is a bittersweet one. While everyone did get to live in peace but what was the point of doing all of this if you can't remember anything? This ending really came out of left field and the last few panels in the final page is so dry. What a shame I just hope the enemy can do something different next week because the ending is so important this series was great but ruined by a bad ending.
I just don’t want Emma to lose her memory-
Videos made moments before disaster
"Kimblees rattail" YESSS!!!!!!!
God, this is so fucking sad, Did they even let Shirai do ANYTHING?!?!?!
I really wanna hear your theorys about Phil and everyone else on a separate video!
So.....how are we feeling after that last episode?
I would say pissed off but that was how ep 4 made me feel. I think ep 5 just made sad because the season is half over already. How can they possibly make the final 6 episodes meaningful? I want to be surprised but I've pretty much lost all hope.
@@gregorycalhoun2019 I'm so bummed because I hadn't (still haven't) read the manga and now I HAVE TO.
disappointed
I recommend 'Dominion' for a live-action version of 'Promised Neverland'. It's free on TH-cam.
Big fan of the Yugi hoodie
You guys are complaining too much. The story wasn’t even rushed and the pacing was fine. When I read it, I didn’t have no problem. I do agree that the ending could of been better, but the story was not rushed. I do wish that we had an arc with them in the human world together, but other then that the manga is good and it is probably the best manga I’ve read.
I agree, I only got bored with some of the demon back story before the fight with the queen. It was hard for me to care for it when I know most of them were going to die and I just wanted to know what was happening with the human characters
@@blkalchemist5645 yea
I can't wait for goldy pond arc to be animated. I hope they change the ending in the anime...
I don't know why you introduce anime that way either... but in this house we stan Jazz Hands Yazy
I really hope the ending of the anime is different
The ending was all that needed to change. So naturally cloverworks decided that they needed to change the anime to fit the nasty ending. 🤮
I can understand how people would be disappointed after the escape arc, but I didn't mind the ending so much. The only thing I wanted was a little more time with the characters after 'the reunion'.
I'm not like other girls MY favorite promised neverland arc is Goldy Pond
lmao same
Do u guys kno wat happend to the old man at the end...like i remember seeing him sit on a bench while emma went with them....
There was a part where she came back for him. In some of the versions of it online, it got cut out
Me more confused and intrigued than ever before 😂
Looking forward to more from connection from manga and anime and more spoilers and lore
Guess I should read the manga again.... I was soooo desperated to know more and more about the story that I missed most of the tiny, little mindbending details
Ya know, having seen the most recent episode this actually could happen. I thought it might not change up the manga that much, but already right off the bat the anime is starting to diverge from the path of the manga, so I'm interested to see what they do with it
Ha, nevermind they're skipping goldie pond and mister and I'mma fight
Love this shirt
Interesting I’m gonna watch it now
I would get the manga but it’s unavailable everywhere :(
It’s available a lot of places now
Man im so sad after watching the first 5 episodes of the 2 season. I loved the anime so much like it was my favorite anime of all time and it had so much potential and then they ruin it like this- i was so exited for the new season and my exitement was followed by disappointment
Edit: hey, episode 6 doesn't look THAT bad, I mean it's still pretty bad but it's also not the worst
i really wanna have you yell theories at my face.
(I know it may have been caused by different reasons but the facts remain the same)
PLEEEEAASEEE Give me all of those theories
Manga Spoilers ahead
My first impression of its ending was that it was dukey... but, after thinking about it objectively I saw that it could not end another way.
