I have seen so many Hollywood, Bollywood, Tollywood n South Indian movies but After seeing this i can say none of them were close to this one. What a team work....... Special credits to D TRAINED ELEPHANTS, Mahawats, Trainers n d whole team.
Really Traumatic for those involved in the Operation, for the poor elephants & to watch the video itself ! Brilliant Video. It is heart breaking to see the blood oozing from the kumkis...Such a difficult task to perform for these magnificent kumkis & their trainers...Hats Off to the entire team !
Thats some brilliant eye opening footage. But its also brings a state of confusion, whether to be a bit glad, that we still have the old technique of elephant capture or be sad to see the stage we have got the man-animal conflict to. We really need to understand and give due consideration to wildlife in India. Pro human development cannot rampantly super-seed everything else.
6:30 looks alot like this poor elephant is trying to get help from the others.... while grabbing onto his trunk like that 7:17 "Im sorry... Its going to be okay"
To All Friends Who Speaking after Watching this Video. All this Forest Department people done a great Job. This Elephants Killed More than 10 Peoples. You guys speaking like Elephant is doing good job by killing and spoiling crops . Please come and leave in this place for atleast 1 month in this place got to know how dangerous here... what department done they shifting the elephants to other place . they are not killing. ..Department peoples surrendering there lifes to catching the elephants. Not Easy as sitting infront of Computer and giving a comment in Video.
This was amazing, well made, captured the tension perfectly and most importantly, was godamn real! It is so hard to find elephant footage that isnt overly produced/staged (every rescue video), smarmy, emotionally manipulative shyte intended to yield donations (yeah, I am talking at you Sheldrick Wildlife Trust). To the other elephant "charities", take note, this is how you get donations: reality, as opposed to just cruelty and padded stats, and an acknowledgement of the complexity of the issue.
I sincerely love your work Kalyan, all your images are quite superb and I am proud. I shared many of your images with my friends in Germany and they really love your work ... I have been following you since 6 months. Love to see more of your work keep posting. God bless you
Kalyan, i am curious...what happens to these elephants once they are captured? It shows them being sedated, stolen from THEIR home land and shoved aggressively into a truck or cage. But it doesn't show or explain what comes next for these beautiful creatures that will most likely be extinct by 2020.
hello sir.. I observed this documentary .. like to know.. I can see there is complete tusk was there where we can see on 03:02 min , where I can see one man with big knife too.. on after 03:22 min we can see the tusk cut down.. can you tell about that thing please . its cut down on both side.. there was a forest department is also there . so like to know the reason behind it sir. waiting for the answer.. is that happened with all 12 tuskers which relocated ??
Sir, It was done to minimize the injuries which can be suffered by Kumki Elephant in the capturing operations, and the cut part of tusk would be burnt with GPS marking the spot.
Hi, Subscribed. BTW, will you please update like what happens with -after these captured elephants- especially the grown ups? Can't something positively be done naturally which can get these animals enough food inside the remaining part of forest not yet- encroached by the so called human beings? (More plants/trees, Relocating grown up plants which bear fruits from non forest area to forest area, Cappiced or pollard trees, repelling natural plants or trees....) What happens when a male elephant gets "mada" ? Is there no way to prevent him lining cross with human established territories? Thank you.
I would suggest that the only people who are entitled to an opinion here are the people who live in the area and villages where these elephants are encroaching. The rest of the world isn't bothered or threatened by these wild elephants so it's easy to criticize the authorities here. What about all of the people who are killed and injured every year by these elephants? What about the economic losses caused by these elephants? People come before wild animals. That's the way it's always has been. In North America the Colombian Mammoths were driven to extinction partly by the first humans to inhabit North America. This same phenomena has happened all over the world.
There were much better ways they could have gone about this. Need to take some notes from wildlife managers on how to capture elephants with minimum trauma. It's sad, but I'm guessing it was between this and shooting them.
Watching this was horrifying, and for these intelligent huge mammals the torture of this experience was beyond my imagination My heart bleeds for these pachyderms
Mr Varma you have done an excellent job! The shot in the night against light looked awesome! But I just cannot support this form of capture. It was really horrible! We the humans have eaten into their habitat and the result were these attacks. Enough of running for GDP! Isn't it time we should think what we are doing is right or wrong? Every creature on this Earth has equal right as a human!
Such a cruel, primitive way to capture these beautiful beasts. Why don't these so called rangers go to Southern Africa to learn how it's done without all the cruelty & stress to man & beasts??? Uncouth nation!!!!!
This sent shivers in my body. Really sad how we, me, I are responsible for all these conflicts and after actions we take after getting into their habitat. Only if they could sue us in a court - Natures court, where everyone is equal. By the way, what happened to all the captured elephants Kalyan Varma?
I hate seeing this. I understand people need space and crops-but they are encroaching into the forests leaving the animals no place to go. Can you not regulate land to allow for both?
It's really sad but the other face of the story is that they have moved the elephants to other place. Though the process was difficult and terrifying. Also there is another link in comments which demonstrates how elephants have been kept away from farms and people with the help of bees. Why such things can not be implemented rather than taking elephants away from there home? Video is nice and I got hint of this video from dev connect event.
relocation should have been done in more appropiate way without harming the animal and scarring their memory for life...this could result in serious threats for future...!!
Even thought I didn't like capturing elephants in such a cruel manner, I appreciate your efforts to document the whole episode in the best possible manner.
Heart breaking scenes, though the intentions of the people involved are laudable, but still wondering if there can be more humane way of doing this. I admire the bravery of the mahouts doing this extremely difficult operation,
who's the wild animal now. Karnataka high court ur disgusting. The people behind this the high ups i ask u how do u sleep at night hoo wait ur psychopathes. I do not mean to offend anyone but the whole nation should be ashamed of themselves for being silent at such atrocities, and to call them sacred i don't want to imagine what happens to lesser creatures...
A lot of these elephants have been killing villagers and need to relocated. So much idiotic liberal comments. If a bear came for your wife what would you do? So much emotion but no logic.
Is it the right way to evacuate the wild life animals? Really it's a very pathetic situation. We have to protect wild life sanctuaries or wild life animals not entering in to the fields and villages. It is our duty. But it is unfortunate that in many forest and hill areas, some of the wild animals like elephants, cheetahs and deer are entering in to the near by villages. . All most every day we are looking at news papers about the death of a deer in one or the other areas. We are all have to think about this pathetic situation
Sad.. cruel one of finest living creatures.. losing his autonomy.. Is getting forced into slavery of human which has turned into worst living creature.
Is it our fault, you human beings ? You, merciless people, invade on our own lands; And destroying our beautiful nature; We have no other way, To choose food, shelter and Water; Otherwise we live in our own world; But now either way we are loosing our freedom and life; Oh! Almighty, you are only the witness to our pathetic situation; You, human beings please look after us; In other way we protect the environment; Please do something and make us live in our own world.
Taking a creature out of its home, forcing members of its own kind to put it through drama and stress while sparing it into a cage. Looking for comfort from the other elephants... while not getting much. It doesn’t feel right. If this is what capture looks like, I don’t like what I’m seeing.

The saddest part of it is that tamed elephants are completely resigned and do nothing to help the newly captured one.
Abhimanyu is superb ❤❤
Well made movie. Happy to know it had the impact to influence public policy in a positive way. Kudos.

Excellent job in putting people first and removing these menacing creatures. Excellent job gentlemen! 👍
6:30 looks alot like this poor elephant is trying to get help from the others.... while grabbing onto his trunk like that
7:17 "Im sorry... Its going to be okay"
Yes. I felt that too.
This is very painful

Hey Kalyan, thank you for this video. Could you provide updates on the elephants? Or some source/link where we could find it?

Hi sir
I am PRASHANT
Nice videos & nice work sir
Thanks Kalyan for sharing these videos.
forest is the best home for these giants.
Brave of Forest officials but Greatest bravery comes from tamed Elephant friends

If it didn't kill any humans it will be relocated to another place if he's killer then he will be tamed
Amazing footage.
Maybe I missed it but after being captured are these elephants released in more remote forest?

Does anyone not know that an elephant’s tucks jabbing can hurt other elephants?

4:35 What a shot
This is AWFUL!!! And probably incredibly traumatizing for the 'tame' elephants.
This sent shivers in my body. Really sad how we, me, I are responsible for all these conflicts and after actions we take after getting into their habitat. Only if they could sue us in a court - Natures court, where everyone is equal.
By the way, what happened to all the captured elephants Kalyan Varma?

None of those solutions worked and these elephants do not have any forests left either.
+Kalyan Varma I agree with you that we increasing our boundaries and cutting down wild life boundaries.. And that's what like about your message.
Yup I cried, but I believes 99%=100% means for greater good we may scarify 1%. Out of 30,000.... ignore 300 elephant sufferings.
Great job
Awesome video thanks for sharing 👍👍
It's better than shooting the elephants. Life is tough and they aren't in charge.
Abhimanyu 💪🐘
