  • This week Plant Lovers a tale of survival, families and LOVE! My partner's mother grew orchids in the 80's and 90's. She died 20 years ago and her orchids were left to fend for themselves outside in the sun with no water other than rain...! I found them three year sand rescued them; repot, fed, watered, sheltered them etc etc. Two bloomed immediately, an Epidendrum and a dendrobium kingianum, but the Cymbidium took a while! And then, this spring, it bloomed! So lets take it back to John, my 93yr old father in law, see if he remembers it, find out how old it might be, and see what he thinks!
