Great diy. When I did mine obd11 wasn’t out and I didn’t have the Vagcom tool. I ended up disconnecting the motor and retracting the piston with a t40. Was an extra 2 mins on each side, but I knew I was running the risk of fault. Happy to say I haven’t had any issues either. I have obd11 now which will be easy next time, regardless awesome how to.
I already threw out old pads. If I put everything else back together (sans pads) is that okay? Had no idea I’d have to do this before I started my project. Also can I turn off the car between doing this or do I need to change the pads with car on??
Hey ik this video is 5 yrs old quick question so I changed my battery and turned my car on and there is a Parking Break Malfunction would this process fix that and is there a way to just simply deactivate the Parking Brake
So i tried to do this on my 2011 vw touareg 7P. But the option "start lining change mode" is not available. Is there some other way to use OBD 11 to retrac the brake piston?
Would really like an answer to this as well. I would think that he would have mentioned to keep it on, if that were the case. If I run into snags and have to make a trip to the store or order something, I don't want to leave my car on for an extended period of time.
How do I reset my electric parking brake? Press and hold the accelerator pedal and place the EPB switch to the RELEASE (downward) position. Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and EPB. Set the ignition to OFF, then set the ignition to ON within 5 seconds. Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and the EPB switch.
After I hit close I did not hear it close on the side I was working on and the parking break is flashing I tried cycling the ebrake like it said but it is still flashing I also tried the test function and reopening they both said failed.
Did this process using the zurich scan tool and after the install i ended the session and heard the parking brake engage (like it should) but i’m getting a fault code. Should i clear it and proceed? or???
Thank you for the video. If you don't have a professional scan tool, is there a sequence of ignition, brake pedal, accelerator pedal, park brake switch operation that will place the EPB into service mode?
I bought an I car soft tool on Amazon for 150$. It can be used on any car and it can be used to retract electric e- brake and re re tract it back to factory setting. 150$ is a little much but this tool is very handy and can do a lot. It's almost like a obd tablet
@@ayosteee Hey Steve,do you have a link to that tool you bought or a part number or a suggestion for a good multi car scanner? Ive been wanting to buy something that works on different cars to do EBTs and things of that nature,i dont mind spending the 150 or even a little more, i just dont want the tool to be limited to 1 or 2 cars if you know what i mean, thank you for your time and input!
@@manhuerta19 Yeah I just spent about an hour cleaning everything and yes it was a royal pain to get the o-ring in with the piston, while maintaining everything clean. It's not leaking yet.... I might just replace it anyway. I dropped the piston on concrete... a couple times. So it's not as flawless as it once was.
Since he hasn't answered my question from a couple days ago, I realize he didn't answer because it would cause others to not buy his tool. Don't bother asking this guy any questions. It's more about purchasing his obd 11 tool.
Reading the comments, you'll get your answer. Try searching before trashing people online. They are a shop, they sell products. They owe you nothing. Do a DYI on motor and trans mounts. Also, i live life on the edge. i use 12 volt with vampire taps to retract the brake.

Do you have to keep the power on during the replacement?
Can you make a video of brake fluid flush? I've read that with obdeleven you can activate the ABS pump to fully flush the system. Thanks!!

Hello how are you. Did you ever figure this out?
do you have to leave the car on the “on” position after you retracted the epb and are working on removing the rotors ?
Would really like an answer to this as well. I would think that he would have mentioned to keep it on, if that were the case. If I run into snags and have to make a trip to the store or order something, I don't want to leave my car on for an extended period of time.
You do not need to leave your car on. I just took a chance and turned the car off. Was totally fine.
Does the car power have to be on while completing the rear brakes?
How do I reset my electric parking brake?
Press and hold the accelerator pedal and place the EPB switch to the RELEASE (downward) position. Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and EPB. Set the ignition to OFF, then set the ignition to ON within 5 seconds. Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and the EPB switch.
Thank you so much
Hello,
Should this same process work on a Golf or Passat with EPB?
Hello, I want to do this on my B8.5 S5. Which version of the tool do I need? and what subscription level if any? The site is a bit confusing.
So this is only for the rear parking brake? Can I use a regular piston compressor for the front?
Yes
Is obd 11 available in the UK?
After I hit close I did not hear it close on the side I was working on and the parking break is flashing I tried cycling the ebrake like it said but it is still flashing I also tried the test function and reopening they both said failed.
Did you ever come up with a solution that turned off the flashing parking brake light
Do you still need to retract the brake calibers with the special retractor tool or will this do it for You? Thanks
I had to do it manually as well, but maybe 0,5cm max.
Both we have a rear brake DIY coming
Humming the Jeopardy theme tune is a classic...LOL
Is this applicable to jammed EPB?
Did this process using the zurich scan tool and after the install i ended the session and heard the parking brake engage (like it should) but i’m getting a fault code. Should i clear it and proceed? or???
Hey I just bought the zurich scan tool but it's not giving me that option, any tips?
So the EPB should be OFF before going to parking brake option and so it can wind it back
One question:
when e-brake is on does all 4 brakes retract or just the back 2 ?
If you mean the piston then just the back 2, the fronts need to be pushed in manually but dont need twisted and compressed. ( for my Golf r anyway)
Thanks for the video, does the battery need to be connected to a charger when retracting the rear brakes?
Not always but it helps to make sure your battery doesn't die. Especially when using an old reader that needs to stay plugged in.
Mine gives me an error: marginal conditions not met
Will this work for VW and Audi?
Yes
You can open the brake motor and manually retract the piston with a hex bit. Google a few DIYs. If you don't have a OBD11 its an alternative way.
Lmao the face he makes while waiting 😂
Terrifying lol
not clear for me
Good lord audi just use a damn parking lever ....

I did it the wrong way i disassembled the the brakes before and what a mess it ended up being do as he says
Yup. I found the app half way through disassembly. Unluckily it will happily push out your piston :( What a mess that made.

OBD eleven?!?
It's just a company name. It still uses the OBD 2 port....not sure if you were being sarcastic, so replying just in case.
2:15 haaaa!
Cool obd 2 , it’s not obd 11
The model name for the device is obd eleven. The technology used is obd 2
Ok I am used to seen and hearing it mentioned OBD 11 as one 2 never 11 .. but thanks..
Other ways to do it without electronic tools.
This is ridiculous. You shouldn’t need a computer to change rotors

I didnt learn SHIT!!
I’m so sick of Audi I can’t take it no more i literally hate Audi I get like 3 new codes every day wtf
