- Tucker from MACkite gives a detailed review of the Drydor Quantum Pro Climatec Hooded Drysuit, emphasizing its high quality and suitability for various water sports enthusiasts, including wing foilers, kiteboarders, wakeboarders, and others. This Swiss brand drysuit impresses with its lightweight, high-end ski parka-like feel, marking a departure from Tucker's usual preference for wetsuits. Despite his skepticism towards drysuits, the Quantum Pro has nearly convinced him to switch due to its slim, tailored fit that avoids the cumbersome bulkiness of traditional drysuits, enhancing mobility without sacrificing warmth.
Key highlights of the Quantum Pro include its light weight, making it ideal for cold conditions without the heft of standard dry suits. It features a stretchy material, taped seams, a diagonal zipper for easier entry, neoprene seals that require no fitment, and a removable hood. These features, along with its wind skin interior and compatibility with any booties, offer a blend of comfort, convenience, and performance.
Tucker appreciates the drysuit's ability to keep him temperature-controlled in various conditions, from subzero temperatures to warmer days, without needing multiple wetsuits of different thicknesses. The Quantum Pro allows for layering underneath according to the weather, offering versatility across a wide temperature range. Its ease of maintenance, quick drying time, and thoughtful design for visibility and water resistance are additional benefits that Tucker highlights.
This review positions the Quantum Pro as a highly recommended option for those seeking a functional, comfortable, and versatile drysuit for cold water activities, with the potential to replace traditional wetsuits for some users. Tucker's positive experience suggests that the Quantum Pro could appeal to a broad audience of water sports enthusiasts looking for quality and performance in their gear.

Very interesting Tucker, stoked you guys are taking the time to review some of the more boutique watersports products out there. Great service to the community!
Thanks Greg. Just out here having fun and passing on the knowledge ;). Omen reviews incoming soon.
Drysuit is essential where I wing. I would never use one that does not have integrated feet/socks, gotta have warm dry feet!!! I have breached mine mid-session, cut on foil, finished session wetter and colder than normal but no big deal - it does not “fill up” with water as many people think.
Yes, they are great. Socks can be warmer for sure but you do lose that connection to the board another degree and typically need to size up another pair of booties. I use the Solite Fire boots in winter so my feet are always toasty. - Tucker
I remember using a dry suit years ago kite surfing and it was definitely the warmest I’ve ever been in the winter conditions, but I stop using it as I was always concerned about it failing in the water. This suit looks great , much better design but I would still have the concern of if there was a failure in the water.
You get a little damp but it won't fill up like a balloon, too much water pressure.
Would be good to see an actual test , reckon they would sell a load more if they did. Great looking suit and know how warm they get !
what kind of test would you like to see@@fishcakes2 ?
Just someone in the water with a small tear or foil slash in the suit and see how much of a problem it is. Obviously In a warm safe environment to test. @@MACkiteboarding
How strong is the material, and will it withstand if you kick your foil? My only issue is how much time do I have to get out if it fails in near zero temps?
No issues so far. It's a tough material similar to a high end skiing parka or snow pants. Mine have held up well despite foil contact. As always, I encourage riders to make sure their foil isn't finished too razor sharp for sake of safety anytime. -Tucker
Don't know if this is s silly question but would the suit be ok for Metal Detecting underwater in the shallows with a hooker breath system 😊
I don't know why not. If you want to go fully underwater, you'll want to "burp" the suit by opening the neck with a finger when you get your body underwater so the excess air escapes. -Tucker
Cool. I notice they use SCHOELLER fabric.....I have a pair of hiking pants from Finland that uses that fabric on the knees and bootie and they are insanely tough. If memory serves its a fabric similar to Kevlar. Crashed several times on my longboard on asphalt hard enough to draw blood on my knees/etc. but the pants where fine. Curious if this is the same fabric. In any event, the sizing is confusing....what size is Tucker wearing ??? If I recall, he's around my size (5'9" and 200lbs).
Great question-thanks for asking! 🤙🏽 Got a moment for a web chat? Click the following link, and we’ll do our best to help: messenger.providesupport.com/messenger/mackite.html
Not sure how to phrase this question but I’ll try my best 😂
Can you prevent water from coming into your booties by having the dry suit overlapping or will that possibly cause water to leak into the suit?
Good question. Since the wetsuit boots are permeable neoprene the water will get in slowly. If you have ankle seals like the Drydor your feet will get wet but you'll have a better connection to the board. Also more flexibility with boots you can use. If you have nylon socks such as some Mustang suits, you'll have dry feet but you'll need thin socks and a round toe boot around a full size larger in my experience. -Tucker
How often can you wear it, before the water proof function is gone?
We have drysuits in circulation for 10-15 years. The new neoprene seals last much longer and are more durable than the latex ones in years past.
Why synthetic layer underneath? Wool will keep you warm even when wet.
Yes, wool is excellent
Will you have women sizes?
Not at this time. You'll just want to reference the size chart as this is a unisex suit.
No reinforced knees!?
This is a good point for wingers.
No reinforced knees. I've been riding mine quite a lot and have no issues thus far. Most boards have deck pads so it's pretty tame on the material.
