Thank you for this awesome video!! I did not even know you could dry can things!! I’m going to check out your husbands channel, I have so many jars but I only know how to can salsa!!🪱🪱🪱
I waste so much food because I do buy extra when I find good deals, but living alone I don't use it all before it goes bad so this is a great video for me. Thank you!
Wish I would of seen your comment before doing this. Should of took she is learning And not copied. Nicely as I can say I messed up several boxes or pancake mix. There is moisture in the cans and they are burnt
Qué ofertó, Anna. Llevas razón, es muy difícil encontrar refritas como esta. Está subiendo el precio de todo! No sé dónde vamos a llegar.
I would not freeze it but keep it in a cool dark place instead. Like your pantry. And it should keep longer than 5 years. My husband has some jars that were canned 10 to 12 years ago that are still good!
If canned properly, dry goods should last a good 10 years. I would not include an oxygen absorber here. But it is an other option to preserve by vacuum sealing it, using a vacuum sealer or an oxygen absorber. I did past videos on this. Here is an example th-cam.com/video/ZfHz4ffhcDQ/w-d-xo.html
@@LittleFrenchyinBigTexas thank you so much, i am on a tight budget, and looking for the most affordable way to preserve beans, rice, flour, well dry goods. And can i preserve meat this way also? Been trying to research what i can everything is blending together!
No, not meat. This is for dry goods only. You would need to use pressure canning for the meat. Please checkout my husband channel, he has a few good pressure canning videos there including meat here: th-cam.com/video/r-9nKVnXjmk/w-d-xo.html
I did a video comparison between the two actually if you want to hear my thoughts. th-cam.com/video/CmnZdbbBtIs/w-d-xo.html in my opinion, vacuum sealing is faster, but I think dry canning will last longer.
@@LittleFrenchyinBigTexas thank you so much!! Love ur videos! Super helpful! I have done water bath canning but not this dry method, going to try this weekend!
You cannot dry can pancake mix which contains fat.(any mix that contains fat) This is not a dry product. You also cannot use oxygen obsorbers in any food which contains fats or oils.

Thank You Anne 💕 Good video
Thank you Donna! Have a good week!
Great information thanks
Do not wet your lids for dry canning, do not put your lids on while jars are in the oven, you put them on after you take them out😳

Any time!
Great video. Do you have a shelf life on the products you canned in this video?
Thank you for watching! I would say at least 10 years if canned properly. Maybe more.
Any idea the shelf life on dry canned flour? I’m told if you freeze it it’s good for 5 years. Thanks
I would not freeze it but keep it in a cool dark place instead. Like your pantry. And it should keep longer than 5 years. My husband has some jars that were canned 10 to 12 years ago that are still good!
Can you accomplish the same thing by vacuum sealing the jars?
Yes and no. Flour for instance can have bugs in it. The heat should kill them. Not sure about the vacuum sealing...
Also do how long will these foods last? And do you think it would be better served including an oxygen absorber?

in my opinion, vacuum sealing is faster, but I think dry canning will last longer.
Is there any issue with putting the top on wet as ypu wipe dry the outer glass first, but lid is wet when you put it ion?
No it's ok. It goes into the oven for over an hour and any moisture evaporates.
@@LittleFrenchyinBigTexas thank you so much!! Love ur videos! Super helpful! I have done water bath canning but not this dry method, going to try this weekend!
Do not put wet lids on dry canning jars!!!
Hi Loraine, the water evaporates pretty quick in the oven.
Water for dry storage?? Then wet towel?? These jars are not really deigned for oven use are they?? I heard that's a big no no....
Any water left on the jar will evaporate in the over. And the jars hold the heat pretty good. Never had issues.

We have been doing it for years and kept jars for 10+ years.
