You posting your first video on arrival in New Zealand made me decide that it was time I discovered a new passion. From that moment until now, I've passed my basic handling skills test, passed my theory test, got a learners licence, spent hours researching motorcycles... and today I took delivery of my very own Royal Enfield Scram 411. Before your first New Zealand video, I'd never touched a motorcycle. I just want to say thanks for showing me the amazing places in my own backyard, and for giving me the inspiration to get started. Cheers Joe.

While I am aware of your professional video editing skills, it was really brought home to me when watching another fellows motorbike touring video. The music was too loud, too much talking and endless video of an endless road. Your videos are just perfect. A really pleasure to watch, thank you for the effort you put in. The photos at the end are as usual wonderful. Stay safe.
Thanks as always Frank, yes I go through each video and if anything bores me or drags on too long I remove it, I try to put in only what keeps the story moving forward
Apologies for getting to the end yes, there is only one more episode, but I am working on something else so hopefully it won’t be long before our new series starts
Inspirational as always mate, thoroughly enjoyed following your journey. Everything is a bit cold and icy here at home (Tassie) and watching you doing this trip makes me feel a bit soft 😂. Excellent photography as always, Well done.
What I love about your stuff Joe is that it really inspires me to explore more. I spent 2 weeks in the Sth Island ages ago, but this makes me want to dedicate a months holiday for it. Cheers mate.
Thanks mate. It’s great to hear you are enjoying the series. Definitely worth spending a month. I think you could spend six there finding new places all the time.
The Music to accompany each stretch of Kiwiana seems to have been written; repeated - yet randomly relevant to each Video. Quite delightful and at times mind bending in a complementary way. To add to it all, I enjoy how in your laid back way you manage to concoct a mental Visual out of what is essentially no more than Rock, scrub and frig'n dead grass! // ...And then... the Gallery of Visual Magic at the end. Another journey to enjoy like no other Bud! Cheers!
Thanks mate, it is great to hear you enjoyed this one, yes, I do go through Music to try and make it feel right for that section. Sometimes it can take me forever to find the right one, but I think it’s worth it. Also, great to hear you are enjoying the photos at the end.
Thanks again for the great tour mate, always epic and I love the fact that you always have this ear to ear smile on your face, says a lot. Well I think someone is heading to Whale Bay in Raglan. My old man caught a wave from Indicators (first break in the line up) all the way to Manu Bay about 2km, that was new years day about 1994, was a solid 10-12 foot. Mad break that one.
Yes you can't wipe the smile of my face. That sounds like an epic day to be out. Man I be t his quads were burning at the end of that ride. I have ridden a couple of really long ways and about half way had to stand up straight to give the quads a rest haha.

Another Epic ride I was just in at French Pass in late March this year we spent a couple of nights in that cottage opposite the jetty. Introducing my wife to perhaps my favorite places in the world, not much ph ,internet or tv. feels like you could be on the edge of world.
A couple nights there would have been epic that whole area is stunning. I can see why it’s your favorite. It’s great to hear you enjoyed the episode. Thanks for the support.
I can't really add to what others have said. It's a great video, the music is perfect, it gives the feel of being there, it's a new Friday ritual, and it's inspiring me to get out and explore, so I won't say any of those things. Old stomping ground Blenheim and it's environs, grew up there, been on the queen charlotte sounds many a time, a place called governors bay was our regular, mussels from the rocks, fishing for spotties (catfood) at the same place, and a fruit that grew wild there we loved, banana passionfruit. yum, the logs being loaded are on the site of an old freezing works closed down about the time we moved away from the area. good memories but, thanks
Okiwi bay is lovely. Last time I took my new to me kayak out 11.5km for a fish and back. In such a hurry to get paddling I forgot my food, drink and sunglasses towards the end of summer. Pretty sure I survived, no-one has told me I didn't.
I'm a bit surprised you didn't spin by Abel Tasman national park while you were up that way, Totaranui beach dude, you'd probably have it all to yourself and go for a swim👍

Hey Joe..Wow..! Now I remember that stretch on my way over to Nelson. I must have said:”Wow”! about a thousand times. And watching your piece this morning, I said Wow again and again. Thanks for Reminding us..Good work by god.
If you had turned left at the single lane bridge you could have ridden over the Maungatapu track, the original road to Nelson. Also if you've seen the Hobbit, the scene where they are floating down the river in barrels was filmed just upstream ftom that bridge.
Do you know what this means, I’m gonna have to come back it seems I’ve missed a lot of great places. I’ll add this one to the list, thanks for the info.
Sensational! It was good to see a bit of reforestation among all those denuded hills. The contrast between the remnant native forest and the sheep ravaged farmland was quite stark. I've yet to work out what time of year you were riding. April/May ?
Thanks, always great to hear you enjoyed each episode. Yes I noticed that. Quite stark contrast between the two as well. I gather back before logging. It was all one big forest. Yes, this was April.
Hey Joe, another epic episode! The scenery is amazing, so are your photography/editing skills. So you've convinced an old road biker to get a road/trail i do like the Himalayan, the ruggedness and simplicity although fear it would be under powered for an heavy guy like me. I'm about 115kg, 6"1, not sure how heavy you are and what the weight of the gear you're typically lugging is but I do remember an episode where you had to walk the panniers up a hill and you look a lot lighter then me. Any advice appreciated! Also what so we're you using in Australia for trails and tracks. Cheers mate
I have a mate who is your height and said he felt a but cramped on the bike, The new 450 Himalayan would probably be better as it has adjustable seat height and the cockpit is roomier. Also it has 40hp were as the 411 has only 24. But the new one is a totally different look. This site has gps files you can download. you go to the search section find the area where you want to ride transaustraliatrail.com.au/tracks/mapview#content

Hi Chris, I fill this in April, it takes me a while to edit each episode. This is the 16th episode. There’s just one left. In April it was between 0° and 26°
Which district of NZ has been your favorite so far? For me my heart rests with Otago, but with how beautiful everywhere in NZ is it is hard to choose. Great video as always.
Sorry if this has been asked already. What navigation did you use for this trip? Looking at a NZ south Island trip in Feb 2025. Any advice would be welcomed. Thank you. Love all of your videos, they're very calming 🙂
No problem Greg, the app I used is GaiaGPS, it has offline maps are all the dirt tracks, also it the easiest and most intuitive one to use that I have found. If you looking for dirt tracks I used this site as you can down load the GPX files and load them either into the app or on the GaiaGPS website in your account. Once in go to the filter to select Dual Sport and/or Enduro www.wikiloc.com Here is another one, I only found it at the very end of the trip www.adventureridingnz.co.nz/gps-tracks-rides/south-island-tracks/ If you're going to camp Wikicamp New Zealand app is good, it show free camping also paid sites and other information that is helpful.

thanks Darrell, it's great to hear you enjoyed the series, and that you got to explore tassie. hopefully in a few weeks time we'll be on the next one. This series was late March into April, was cool by the end but not too cold to ride. I wouldn't leave it any later.
Yes, it is mate. Another awesome spot to add to all the other awesome spots. I just spent a full day you know where riding up a dirt track with drop-offs insanely high, I am spent, but I am happy
How do you find the Scram over your Himi- honest opinion. I bought my silver Himalayan, after watching many youtubers, you especially, but have thought that the Scram may have been a better fit. I use my bike mostly on tar at the moment, so the 21 inch front wheel doesn't suit main roads really well. Have dirt roads coming up in the warmer months, so that's where the bigger wheel will work better.
Hi mate, you hit the nail on the head. The scram is better on the tighter twisty corners due to the 19 inch from wheels. Yes it all depends on where you ride mainly. If you get off road more then the Himalayan. I'll be doing a review after the series is finished, last episode of the series is on Friday.
All of it, seeing new places, I love being in the mountains and on the beaches, forest and deserts, I like the unknown, like traveling down a track that I have no idea where it goes, that excites me. Also meeting new people seeing how they live their culture, new foods new smells new sounds new taste. also it doesn’t matter if there are challenges along the way, that’s all part of it so as I said, I like it all

Thanks mate, it is great to hear you. Both are enjoying each episode. Definitely kiwis are solid, everywhere I’ve gone. Everybody’s been great. Everybody’s asked if I need a hand. It has been one of the highlights of the trip and there have been many highlights.
Thanks Joe, always great viewing, catch ya next Friday. Cheers mate ride safe.
Thanks, mate and it is always good to hear that you’ve enjoyed each episode
Another Epic ride I was just in at French Pass in late March this year we spent a couple of nights in that cottage opposite the jetty. Introducing my wife to perhaps my favorite places in the world, not much ph ,internet or tv. feels like you could be on the edge of world.
A couple nights there would have been epic that whole area is stunning. I can see why it’s your favorite. It’s great to hear you enjoyed the episode. Thanks for the support.
Thanks!
Thanks again for the support as you know it’s greatly appreciated and there’s not too much a break between this series and the next
I can't really add to what others have said. It's a great video, the music is perfect, it gives the feel of being there, it's a new Friday ritual, and it's inspiring me to get out and explore, so I won't say any of those things.
I'll just like, comment and subscribe (I was already subscribed of course) so that the algorithm notices how good these videos are.
Thanks mate. It’s great to hear you enjoyed this one as well and thanks for commenting as you know the more engagement the more these things get shared. I do really appreciate it.
That does sound like an idyllic time Kevin, so much freshness right at your fingertips
Okiwi bay is lovely. Last time I took my new to me kayak out 11.5km for a fish and back. In such a hurry to get paddling I forgot my food, drink and sunglasses towards the end of summer. Pretty sure I survived, no-one has told me I didn't.
It is a magic place, oh I’ve done similar, it’s great we both survived 👌🏻
Love your style and flow. Inspirational. Cheers.
Thanks mate, it's great to hear you are enjoying the series.
I'm a bit surprised you didn't spin by Abel Tasman national park while you were up that way, Totaranui beach dude, you'd probably have it all to yourself and go for a swim👍
I was going to head to the national Park, but I have run out of time, which means I’ll have to add it to the list when I come back next time
@@freewayproject Top idea, looking forward to your North Island leg, guess you head for Auckland? Desert Road / Tongariro national park, head up the volcanoes as a suggestion. The scent of the native bush there is something to experience!
Great video Joe, I've been a long time subscriber and enjoy all you videos. Well done mate.
Thanks mate. It’s great to hear you have been enjoying the series. Thanks for the support of watching. There’s one more episode in this series, but I am working on the next one, so hopefully not too long a break between.
Another great way to end the day, having a coopers stout and enjoying your epic journey.
Amazing part of the South Island, definitely have a check this out.
Thanks for sharing Joe,you but a lot of effort into each episode and we appreciate going that extra mile or two,to retrieve that camera, plus the drone footage is breathtaking ✨👏🫡
Thanks mate, as always it is great to hear you enjoy the episode. Yes you should definitely check it out. It is a stunning area.
Stunning. Looks so peaceful
Yes, I didn't come across many other people when I was there and again like the rest of New Zealand, stunning.
Hey Joe..Wow..! Now I remember that stretch on my way over to Nelson. I must have said:”Wow”! about a thousand times. And watching your piece this morning, I said Wow again and again. Thanks for
Reminding us..Good work by god.
Thanks mate, it’s always great to hear you enjoyed the episode. Yes wow is what I was thinking as I rode along that reach.
Bgm was perfect, awesome video mate loved it
Thanks mate, it’s great to hear you enjoyed the episode, New Zealand is such a stunning place to explore
Just stunning scenery.
It surely is, where ever I go in New Zealand it's just incredible
Super Special, Joe. Thank you so much for sharing your incredible adventure. 🌿💗🏍️
Thanks, it’s great to hear you. Enjoy the episode.
@@freewayproject ha ha, the stuff to see is never ending.
@@freewayprojectPlus over in Golden Bay, the ride from the base of Farewell Spit down to Anatori river is fantastic.
@@flyingkiwi215 another added
Great ride Joe, again. Thanks for sharing...
Thanks mate, it’s always great to hear that you enjoyed the episode
Great episode. New Zealand just keeps getting better and better!
Yes it does, I’m surprised all the time to see something new and unique everywhere I go in NZ. It’s great to hear you enjoyed it.
Great footage again Joe...that Enfield is a real work horse. Thanks again
Thanks mate. It’s great to hear you enjoyed it. Yes the Enfield’s I have ridden always get the job done, and that’s what I like about them
Awesome adventure Joe, great roads and stunning veiws, makes a great Friday night in with a beer cheers
Thanks mate, it’s always good to hear that you enjoyed the episode
Sensational! It was good to see a bit of reforestation among all those denuded hills. The contrast between the remnant native forest and the sheep ravaged farmland was quite stark. I've yet to work out what time of year you were riding. April/May ?
Thanks, always great to hear you enjoyed each episode. Yes I noticed that. Quite stark contrast between the two as well. I gather back before logging. It was all one big forest. Yes, this was April.
WOW WOW WOW.
It is a stunning place JB
Great video mate
Thanks mate, it’s great to hear you enjoyed the episode
@@freewayproject the editing is mint, timing audio beats with changing video is spot on
Hey Joe, another epic episode!
This site has gps files you can download. you go to the search section find the area where you want to ride

@@freewayproject thanks Joe, really appreciate the reply and info!
Can't wait for next episode although the end is near, you've definitely made me want to visit NZ too lol. RE should definitely give you a kickback for all the great advertising you do for them. Cheers
@@ilaser4064 no problem hope it helps informing you to get the right ride.
Mate, your face says it all, you're havin a ball.
Is it that obvious haha yes definitely having an incredible time exploring New Zealand.
Hi Joe, does a cattle grid pass as a bridge??? Once again, great vid Joe. Thankyou.
Annie 🐧
Close enough, bizarre fact, I am in a National Geographic standing on a category in the middle of the outback 😂
I am stoked to hear you enjoyed that one
@@freewayproject ahhh. I’ve been wondering where you are at the moment. Finding some warmer dryer weather of course. Not motorcycling???

Just checking it is mid-winter?
Would be interesting to know the occasional temperature please.
Still cannot believe how brown it is 😮
Perth WA is around 4 to 16 degC at present.
I’ve loved all of it, I’m amazed at how many unique landscapes there are across the island. All stunningly beautiful in their own way.
Once in go to the filter to select Dual Sport and/or Enduro
www.wikiloc.com
Here is another one, I only found it at the very end of the trip

If you're going to camp Wikicamp New Zealand app is good, it show free camping also paid sites and other information that is helpful.
Another inspirational series mate, I followed your journey in Tassie earlier this year and plan to do the same in NZ next year, what time of the year have you filmed this journey?
thanks Darrell, it's great to hear you enjoyed the series, and that you got to explore tassie. hopefully in a few weeks time we'll be on the next one.
This series was late March into April, was cool by the end but not too cold to ride. I wouldn't leave it any later.
@@freewayproject thanks Joe
14:40 industrial aesthetic
boys and there extremely big toys.
Thanks Joe, Marlborough area is fantastic eh..
@@freewayproject Cheers thanks mate.
Does anyone know the name of the song (artist) at the outro of each episode?
Great videos from an expat watching abroad.
The intro song is by Pastis - why do you still hurt
@@AG-si2wt Do you know the outro song (at the end)
Hi Chris, the song is Oh My Love - Sleepaway Camp
Phil 👍
yep, the New Zealanders are great people.
Sir what inspires you to travel the world ??
It sure beats a life of clock in at 9 and out at 5.
Joe is free to chose his own path.
All of it, seeing new places, I love being in the mountains and on the beaches, forest and deserts, I like the unknown, like traveling down a track that I have no idea where it goes, that excites me. Also meeting new people seeing how they live their culture, new foods new smells new sounds new taste. also it doesn’t matter if there are challenges along the way, that’s all part of it so as I said, I like it all
First !
Winning 😂👌🏻
Thanks!
thanks you as always Larry
