Hi - I will be at Lakeside Stitches tomorrow as well. She hosts a stitching group every Thursday afternoon from 1:00 to 4:00. I stopped in last week and she was putting all her Nashville purchases into her inventory so got to see them. She got a good variety of charts and fabric 👍. One way to keep your stitched charts in the same binder as the unstitched charts is to get the plastic sleeves in a different color. I have seen them in a light pink, blue and yellow before. Put the stitched chart in the colored sleeve and you will be able to see at a glance which ones have already been done. Thanks for another informative video.

You are a calming addition to my Flosstube friends. I have what I call a ‘Crofis’ meaning craft room/office/sleeping room in my condo. Very small but have managed to get a dedicated 3 drawer cabinet, 3 shelf standup cupboard, half top part of the desk and part of the closet which holds about all I need. I keep my finished charts along with their detail sheet in one Completed Project Binder until I need to add a second one. Everything else is in boxes or plastic bins. Just recently reorganized and can find everything pretty easy now.

Wow, your room is as big as a 3 car garage! Lol. More room to collect!!! Lol .
Once I complete a chart, I put it back in the expandable folder inside the fabric covered boxes. I will know what I have stitched, no need for a completed binder.
Fabric storage, see the Virginia Stitcher on TH-cam. Again I use the comic board cards she uses and the fabric covered boxes. I sort by count then by color in the count. Everything organized. Her idea was brilliant. Saved me a ton of space and can see everything at once!

Yay...Now you are at the top of my alerts! I store patterns by holiday...and for the ones that I have lots of like Primrose Cottage/Fat Quarter Shop/Lori Holt/ Hands on Design I store by Designer then if it's not a holiday season I store them all together. In 3 ring binders in sleeve protectors. I too used to have an above the garage space, but I had my 12 ft longarm in it and sewing machines around the walls and a little alcove I used a reading nook....Now I have the biggest room in this house because we had this house designed around my longarm...That is why it's called my QUILTCAVE... lol.

I just redid my chart storage. One binder for the two designers I have the most patterns. Everything else alpha order by designer, an alpha order by chart name within each designer. 1 binder labeled a-l, 2nd binder labeled l-z, 3rd binder for the two designers. I figured I probably should go through all the patterns from time to time to refresh my memory. My collection is expanding. Completed charts are gifted to someone else, or kept in the corresponding folder. Loved your video!

I do that binder method with my rubber stamp collection. I call those binders my bibles. Without them I doubt I could easily find a stamp! I’m still wondering if I’ll do designer or theme. It may end up a bit of both😅. Thanks for watching

Good Morning from my Northwoods home. A bit of snow overnight after rain. I am sure it’s a skating rink outside so a good day for stitching. I just wanted to say thank you for the great ideas you are offering, especially for storage. I am a quilter and a cross stitcher so the storage issues are really important. I look forward to your next video……..Happy Stitching!!!!!!

Another great video❤️ I use 1 binder for freebies & PDF print outs w/ a divider - new in the front, completed charts in the back & I write my start & finish date on those. I do put sleeve protectors on each one, as well. Everything else is in baskets, decorative boxes or totes by designer.
I hope the shop owner will let you film or take pics to show us, but either way, enjoy & have fun!
    Happy Stitching!💗🪡🧵🌷🐇

Hi Sarah, love your videos, I am binge watching them at the moment. The tips and tricks are great and so useful. If you are going to rearrange your fabric, watch Vicky The Virginia Stitcher. She has a great way of storing hers using magazine boards. I am going to do mine that way when I get around to it. Take care, Sally x

I use an Excel spreadsheet to list all my charts. I put all the charts into sheet protectors in ring binders and they are sorted in Alphabetical order by the chart title. I do put completed charts in a separate binder - also in alpha order by chart title. The Excel spreadsheet has columns: Status (WIP, Finished, Stash, Kitted); Title; Stitch count (width & height); Designer; Tags (anything I would search by like the holiday, what animal, theme, etc.). I have a project page for each project in my daily journal (ring binder). It gives all the specifics on my finished patterns & WIPs. I only have 4 binders - and am trying hard not to need 25 binders! I also use a spreadsheet for my DMC so I know what is on drops, in project bags, or still on the original skein. Today I am working on creating a spreadsheet for my fabric stash. I am 67 and recently retired, so my time spent organizing is a joy. I'm touching, feeling, seeing it all again! I have 5 WIPs in my stitching rotation. If it is kitted and not a WIP, the project is in a bin. Those are purchased as kits, but not started. I don't kit until I am ready to begin stitching.

I have the goose neck light also. It’s great for hotel rooms. For fabric storage, I prefer to unfold the fabric and then roll it. I have some fabric covered plastic mailing tubes that I roll the fabric around. I mark the count and color name on the selvage with a fine sharpie. Or you could punch out a hanging tag and pin that to the fabric. I organize my charts by designer. Maybe recommend that you take the Dimension petite kits out of the clam shell packages. If they have turned yellow, they are probably not archival and could be off gassing onto the thread and fabric. I am enjoying your flosstubes and keep a pad and pencil near to write down your hints and recommended web sites.

From Lori O, Medina Ohio - first time I've seen your flosstube, so interesting, and I think you are pretty lucky to have that great sized craftroom. You might benefit from knowing that I have been stitching forever (I am 76, so that's a long time) and I have grown into the master bedroom, and we are now in the smallest bedroom. My 8 1/2 by 11 patterns are in magazine holders and classified by season, and topic - Babies, animals, country, samplers, kitchen, floral, geographic scenes, etc. I have to stop buying patterns but I just can't. I am also a card-maker so many of the gadgets you showed would help me there too. Hope to see you again soon.

I like to organize my charts by designer. I think whatever helps you remember what designs you have is the best way. So it’s personal preference. I too would like some ideas on fabric storage. I seem to store them in different spots depending on how they are packaged. Loving all the videos and inspiration!

What a magical room you have. On my binder in the front outside where you can slip a piece of paper I list what is in the binder. I have not found a good way to store them, by designer has worked best, but sometimes I can’t remember who the designer is. I guess that is the charm, working within your craft. I really have enjoyed your videos

Hi! I love the box you found! What a great petite collection... Start the butterfly triplets!!!! Would be great to watch your progress. I have all my patterns in binder sleeves and organized by theme in three totes by Hefty brand. They are built for hanging folders so each folder is a theme or subset of theme...like Winter got to big so it got divided into snowflakes, snowmen, ornaments, etc I don't organize by designer since when I first started, I didn't really focus on that. Love your fabric drawers!!! Have to use what ya got to free up space for new!!! Ha hope you have fun at the store...I'm jealous! Happy stitching!

I keep my fabrics in a couple of dresser drawers by count. 28/30 in one (includes 14ct aida), 32 in another and 36/40 in yet another. At one point when I was organizing I did a bit of a refold, made sure labels were attached to the fabric and sorted by color way. OCD anyone?! It could probably use a little straightening out since its been 1+ years since I initially did it but it really does help when I need to hone in on a count and colorway. Can't wait for the full tour!

Loving all your tips and tricks! I have seen several FlossTubers folding their fabrics and putting them in baskets. @RyRyMcGuy uses a basket and arranges the fabrics according to color grading.

@@Sarahthenorthwoodsstitcher No but I love the Birdbath Cardinal. Doing the Cool Cardinal on the Branch, he is sideways. Color and Cotton has a floss "Cardinal" #CAC-4-4, its overdyed 8 yard, perfect. The darker is Gentle Arts Buckeye Scarlet, #0390 had darker overdye. Still an Aida newbie.

I use art sealer. I've been diamond painting for years. It covers the sticky and it seals diamonds. Brush on to thick and sometimes takes away the shine. ALEENS acrylic sealer gloss finish. Seals and pretects.

I cross switched for more years than I care to count. Eye issues have prevented me from stitching for a number of years now, unfortunately. I had a hard fast rule; never start a new project until finishing the one I was working on. That held true until I no longer was able to stitch.

I store my charts by season, with separate categories for samplers, Mira/Bella and miscellaneous. But I store them in plastic pockets in wire drawers, I don’t like binders. Once I finish something I sell or gift the chart on the basis that I have so many projects to stitch, I doubt I’d want to re-stitch something.

I have the light around the neck also in pink. I find that my “shelf” can get in the way though. I’m constantly bending and reshaping how I wear it. Any suggestions?
