    Betty Buckley, in my opinion, had the vocal chops and the acting chops to bring this character to life! She is so humble about the work. I truly love her!

    I went to see Betty in london, not knowing her work very well, and being a massive Patti fan and she BLEW ME AWAY. She perfectly captured the tragedy of Norma, it was heartbreaking.

    It’s the show that changed my life forever - put me on a path of musical theater exploration that has lasted my entire life! Those characters, that score and everything that came with them are apart of me now and will be until it’s my turn to surrender…thank god for this show!

    I saw Glenn and Betty on Bway, and Elaine in London. That was the most incredible production I’ve ever seen. I’ve never seen anything like that original mansion set, and Bway will unlikely see anything like it again.

    The only thing more moving than watching Betty Buckley as Norma Desmond and singing Andrew's songs in Sunset, is watching and listening to her Memory as Grisabella in CATS. No one acts and sings in on stage quite like Betty Lynn. There's that something extra she infuses in every performance that makes me cry tears of joy. Thank you for creating these roles, Andrew Lloyd Webber.🙏💜🩵💙

    My favorite song is "As If We Never Said Goodbye", the Glen Close version! Its a stunning piece of work where the intro leads you in and to this day, it still gives me goose bumps everytime I hear it. For me its probably one of the best intros Ive ever heard. If I could ever get close to that, then I would be a very happy happy man!! Bravo ALW, Don Black and Christopher Hampton!!! Best wishes James.

    Glenn Close will always be the perfect Norma Desmond for me... but if she's too old to play that role in the movie version, Madonna is the next best choice for me... if she was able to pull it through Evita, she"ll be a revelation as Norma...

    • @chrisjacobs7417
      @chrisjacobs7417 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      With all due respect, Evita was sung the whole way through. When Madonna has to interpret words without them being set to music it usually doesn't work out so well for her. Sunset Boulevard not only requires the ability to act through song it actually requires the ability to act through spoken word as well. Madonna does and always has struggled in that area

    Disgrace that no-one has the generosity of spirit to pay respect to the great Broadway star that launched this show. Patti LuPone. Even ALW should, after all this time, have the integrity to acknowledge her.

      He might if she'd, just for once, stop bad-mouthing him publicly, especially since she got paid off with a few million dollars. It's Patti that's been carrying the axe about it for decades and refuses to bury it.

    The very pretty and extremely talented singer, actress, dancer and entertainer Betty Buckley is the best Norma Desmond ever! Betty Buckley is the best and one and only Grizabella the clamor cat from Cats! Betty Buckley is excellent in every one of her performances on television, movies and stage! Betty Buckley received the Tony Award for best actress in a Broadway musical for her portrayal of Grizabella the Glamour Cat the song "Memory" truly belongs only to Betty Buckley! That is the only person who does the sing justice! I saw Betty Buckley in the national tour of Hello, Dolly at the Kentucky Center for the Arts in Louisville, Kentucky! Betty Buckley is the best Dolly Levi ever! I was born in the very late fall of 1978. I saw the very pretty and extremely talented singer, actress, dancer entertainer, pianist, and songwriter Petula Clark sing two songs on You Tube as Nora Desmond! Betty Buckley and Petula Clark are the only two who can play Nora Desmond! It should be Dame Petula Clark! Both Betty Buckley and Petula Clark are very humble about their work! The very beautiful and extremely talented actress, singer, dancer, and entertainer Shani Wallis is also fantastic in everything she does! It should be Dame Shani Wallis! Shani Wallis should have received the Golden Globe Award, the BAFTA Award, the Screen Actors Guild Award and the Academy Award as best actress for her portrayal of Nancy in the 1968 classic movie Oliver! The 1968 classic movie Oliver is one of my favorite movies of all time! Shani Wallis is the best and one and only Nancy ever! Shani Wallis is also very humble about her work!
