Great memories again. First time seeing the World famous Round pond was magical. Only said a few phrases to him and his wife, and they were so kind but so busy. Cheers Tim.
Great vid Tim! You really captured the spirit of that special place, the round pond, and Hirasawa/Maruhiro KF as well. Glad we got to experience it with KoiTrips
I watched again Tim 👍👍 Maybe there’s some Koi snobbery regarding breeders who don’t just breed a small number of koi . As your video proves the sheer scale on Maruhiro farm allows such a broad variety of Koi to be bred . Anyone who says these guys don’t produce top end koi are completely bananas 🍌. My Tosai yellow Karishigoi I got from QN last summer when I was grafting in Stanlow is doing fabulous btw really good strong little koi well little for now !!! The Mrs christened it pineapple 🍍!!! Err I don’t name Koi it ain’t right ! Lol
great videos for those of us who will never get a chance to visit. Thanks Tim. Stunning koi every where you look. The round pond always looks amazing. When you buy fish but leave them to grow on is there a charge ( like rent etc ) for the time they stay there ?
How would you rate Maruhiro for his benigoi ? If you wanted something that would develop with a big jumbo body what kind of price range would you be thinking ?
@@TimWaddington what would you be looking out for in a nisai I’d love one that could pack on length and big body I know mark has a Maruhiro benigoi coming in and I’m tempted to get it but dunno wether it’s a case of putting more money into the next grade up (next year) if it would yield a better result in the end if that makes sense, think it’s around £400
@@TimWaddington are benigoi there bred from benigoi parents or are they a byproduct of gosanke breedings do you know I guess the size would be dictated by the parents wouldn’t it ?
Did you and Chris nail hironori to the floor as i don't think I've ever seen him stand still for that long! Works harder than del boys suitcase but with alan sugars brain, i think he misunderstood when you asked how many varieties he breed's, the answer he gave was just the new varieties he has given name's to this harvest, lol
"The value is probably the equivalent to most streets in the UK", sorry Chris but I'm from Stoke on Trent, that pond is probably worth more than the city! 😂
I have some Maruhiro hi Utsuri they are superb koi

What a down to earth bloke the stuff these breeders know and the hours they work yet they still smile away
Great vid Tim

Yes that’s correct, it’s not crazy expensive but depends on the breeder.
What a farm and till you get the T Collection Gin Rin Ki Matsuba back I still have the best one in the country 🤪
Pretender to the throne…
Hi Tim, what’s the starting price for a koi out of that main pond to a uk hobiest?
I’ve seen Koi in there from £5000 up! UP!!

He has probably the best Benigoi around. They are stunning, Gin Rin and normal. He has for all budgets.

🤣🤣
The hard water in the U.S. may be a problem for Maruhiro trying to breed koi with beni because beni turns orange in hard water.
