I'm not sure if I like the move to real time engines as we basically go back to limiting artists in terms of techniques they can use, polycount etc, this time not because it's impossible to do better but just to cut down on render costs. I mean this doesn't look too bad, but it could've been so much better if they used a proper renderer.
Nah, even IN unreal it can look so much better than what they achieved here, maybe the time was too short, budget to low or whatever. The few facial animation they actually used in the video were not very good either :X
The animation and some models and some lookdev was super weak as if some student with 1week of experience worked on it or some guy from Fiverr. But overall for an UE4 project i guess it's pretty dope. Anyway i would've went with Redshift instead. Guess it was tight deadline and as a result this project was rushed and got rendered in UE4. Also imo UE4 is worthy as production renderer only if you're willing to totally nail the lookdev so all shit looks almost photoreal, but it takes insane amount of extra time compared to path tracer which kinda sux.
Except the video looks like they used 20+year old graphics. Just film a normal video if you were gonna make it look like 1998's Blue from Eiffel 65 video (which still looks so much better!)
Everyone writes bullshit about this stupid video.. This video has nothing interesting !!! Nothing ! But the music is fantastic, voice is brilliant.. And noone asks who is singing ? Who is Alida ?
