I couldn’t resist checking with my very precise digital scales - 1 turn of the weight was reading as 2.1g - so I am happy that 1 turn is 2g - probably more precise than my ability to measure it! Many thanks for your help.
This was really helpful thank you. Have just bought a Michell Tecnodec with this arm and had no idea that 1 turn = 2g so that was really good to find out. I think I'll still check with a digital scale once I've mounted the cart but good to have a handle on how far roughly to turn the counterweight.
i did discover that some expensive and bad sounding turntables don´t have any measure for nothing ,one as to buy everything a turntable did had since the 60´s that i know off

Hi, great vídeo! I recently bought a rega Just like this one. The previous owner put a AT91R cartridge. Can you tell me if it is an adequate cartridge? Should i give it an upgrade? Regarding the preamp plus speaker system, can you give me also some budget friendly suggestions? Cheers
i don´t know all referencies but i think the change was made in the year 2000, one when looking to the tip of a new and expensive stylus ,one asked himself, "are this new ?my old one is doble the size or triple the size ?" i´ve tried in old stores that closed in the 90´s due to the apearence of big surfaces that sold every type of cd at lower cost , now one has to order them from abroad, but if stores were on a house owned by the seller, they were still there ,i bought all technics stylus and cartridges he had ,only asked me 50€, even bought a new first press of ghost in the machine by Police, he had thousands of records there ,and i asked him, "where are all the records ?" he replyed, "the other day a guy ask me to show him my discoteque" how we call a music store in Portugal "and he gave me 7.000€ i told him ,"do you want the turntable?"he siold every single and record and i wanted to buy the only record from marillion i do enjoy "Fugazi"
Great vid. I’ve got my Rega (identical to this) up and running again and a new ATN95E stylus arriving tomorrow so be handy to set it up correctly, as it’s years since it was done. What isn’t clear in Regas own instructions as what to set the anti skate to (my stylus needs 2g)
if it makes diference use the 2 grams i used to have a AT95E sold from late 70´s to some years ago they become completelly diferent they used to be bigger the tip , and have 2400 to 2800 hours of use depending on the type of use ,new or aceptable records , dirty or destroyd records also the weight or type of stylus ,when younger at home i only had spherical stylus the AT was for my Pioneer PL-430 ,that i used to listen to others records or record them, some do felt a big evolution in quality of sound from the cd to the vinyl , but those only had a needle aqll their lives or never cleaned the records and on top of one speakers ,the records , in the other the covers ,those were amazed by the cd but with a month old most of the cds didn´t play ,i went to a friends house and put is cds in the kitchen sink, rub them hard with sonasol ,didn´t let him put a cd to play without being dry but because where i live in summer the air is very dry ,they did dried in a bit and the guy was like if he saw God, all of his dozens of cds that didn´t play were playing again, I also forget to refer that till late 80´s people were using needle of those you rotate to one side to listen to 45 rpm records and turn them to the other to listen to 33 rpm records, but one time listened record with those stylus and it destroyd the vynil, a friend of mine used to put music in a nightclub, using thorens professional turntables and one night he came to the dance floor and asked me ,do you notice any diference in the sound?i replyed with lots of alcohol ,NO. He said to me "i think i dodged a bullet" i asked him why , that when he tells me that he putted in the cartridge a shirt pin, he had broken the needle the night before also very drunk, i told is holder brother ,who had just finished his 5 year degree on phisics & chemicals and he paid for the stylus ,or the place we used to spend the night ,in a week would stop having music, because after hearing one record using those stylus it destroy the grooves, the same if using old diamond stylus already used since 1979 ,the tip is the same size of a new stylus
hello, I just bought the REGA 6 and I am unable to get the stylus to touch the record !!. There is no green or any tabs on the counter weight. I have followed the exact instructions from your video and others and jut the stylus in 2.5 mil off the record. The tone arm lever does not drop down completely as well .. I am very confused as to could cause this as the tonearm is already comes with the already fitted Exact cartridge !! cheers
Nice video! Would you know how to replace a broken tonearm rest? I have a new one, but I cannot remove the broken one, pulling/wiggling it doesn’t seem to work. Do I need to remove the whole tone arm to replace it?
@@cheshireaudio thanks for the response. This thing can imply problems in listening or in the functionality of the cartridge/stylus? The turntable just arrived to me a few days, but I'm waiting for the replacement glass platter so I haven't tested it yet
Hi Nice video. My new deck with a rebaged rb220 nad arm which is arriving this week, I've been told I will need to adjust the vta I have ordered a azimuth protractor and have a rough idea of what I need to do. Where it the vta adjustment on the arm? Thanks Ryan
You need a basic protractor to align the cartridge offset /overhang, the mounting distance is fixed at 222mm approx. The tonearm will require mounting on the turntable the vta will need adjusting to suit your cartridge the nut can be adjusted then the tonearm can be locked in position with the grub screw on the tonearm plate.

@@ryanwaterworth7055 It may have been modified to incorporate VTA adjustment. The standard arm doesn't need any spacers for Nagaokas, I fit them all the time. The standard Rega protractor is fine ... you can download one from 'Vinylengine'. Contact me at the shop if you need any more help
Appears to be pretty much the identical set up I have on my 2010-ish Rega P1. Your technique works a treat.

Another great video. Can you demonstrate how far forward to mount the cartridge please?
a litle more than half the space to run the cartridge ,this if not a huge cartridge

Yes, there is a little bit of bias (anti skate) even when both dials are at zero
