    I hade one customer peak at one item without showing me and insisted that she was missing something without looking at the rest of the order. The way she was so emotional about it I could tell she was trying to pull a fast one. She insisted I drive all the way back and get it. I was like sure 🤣. And a month later she still is waiting! 🤣

    There is also a scam with these restaurant's not having the order ready, but put pick up ASAP for the courier/driver to come and pick up order. When you get there the order is not ready and they tell you that it will be another 5 minute's but you end up waiting for 15-20 minute's for an order that was labeled as ASAP. That wait has cost me money (orders) and has probably messed up any tips.

      yep, I just experienced this yesterday, I park illegally on a busy street blocking a fire hydrant with the ass of my car dangerously extending into the intersection too, because I thought I'd run in, grab it and run back out, as I usually do. Instead, it looked like they just started working on the order and it took like 15 minutes of stress for me, then I get customers texting me asking why it's taking so long.

You stated yourself the laws you broke so here's the smallest saddest little violin playing the saddest little song just for you ....nowhere in door dash s instructions or manual does it say " now that your a Dasher, cringe, your allowed to park illegally so long as it just for a second"...I mean is there also a speeding clause in there cause I got a ticket yesterday but you'd never see me complaining that I was working for door dash and there's a scam where I got caught speeding......NEXXXT

    I had my first scam happen to me. I’d heard of it before but brushed it off like “that won’t actually happen”. Anyway, I deliver food to the customer and hand it to the customer myself, brief little convo, shortly after, get a call saying customer never got the food. Now I take a screenshot of my gps when it shows I’ve arrived prior to exiting my vehicle. I love when it says leave at door because that’s another picture as proof I can take with the food on the doorstep, also, text the customer saying food is there and any reply saying thank you is more proof. Sad that we have to do this but I can’t afford to lose my source of income over a scam. Have to be prepared.

    • @adotintheshark4848
      @adotintheshark4848 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      texting is the best idea. I like to text first and tell them I've arrived. It's almost as good as a picture because if you have to you can screenshot the text for support.

    As a Dasher, it is my job to pick your food up and deliver it.
    I treat a customer's order the same way I would treat my own. If the restaurant does not have the order ready, or I encounter any issues, I immediately contact the customer to let them know what's going on.
    But verifying that you have everything in your order is something I am NOT GOING TO DO.
    1. Most restaurants seal the bags. So if I break that seal to check for all items that are supposed to be in the order, that means I am picking through your food. Do you really want me to open your burger to make sure they didn't put mustard on it? And once the bag is unsealed a customer can claim you took something.
    I normally do everything above and beyond, but I refuse to unseal bags.
    Now, if a bad comes unsealed, I will take a peek to make sure the number of items match what I see on my screen, but that's as far as I'll go. And of course I'll make sure I don't forget things that don't come in a bag like drinks

    • @lynnz2021
      @lynnz2021 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right. Even if they try and pull a fast one and grab the food from me when it directs I put it at the door I’ll tell them I still need a photo regardless that happened to me before they decided to come and get the food so I put handed to customer then they called and said they never received their order 😭 so ALWAYS get a photo if it directs you to do so.

      @@lynnz2021 man it depends on the neighborhood. I found when I deliver to the working middle class and upper middle class, i never have complaints or issues, they always tip, always leave great comments. lol it's when I deliver to the lower low income or the upper echelon neighborhoods when I get some shenanigans. Whether it be "not delivered" or zero tip on their mcdonalds order.

    Notice to viewers/dashers: DD support already has your information they need to do their job when they call. They won't ask for credentials. Only questions to resolve a support request initiated by you or a customer.

    Another scam - a former friend who introduced me to DD did this scam. She had her husband download the app, order a huge meal just as she pulled up to the restaurant (so that she'd be the Dasher the order was assigned to), then she'd pick up the meal, take it outside to her car, go back inside the restaurant and claim they forgot an item, pickup said item, then drive the whole order home (to "the customer" - her own husband). She'd drop the order off, sign off the app, pig out on the food, then husband called DD and claimed the order was never delivered. So they got 1. free food, 2. free extra item, 3. paid to deliver the order.
    Obviously, I'm no longer friends with this person. Tanya A. in Peoria, Arizona, I'm talking about you!

Otherwise those ppl in the office generally would have no idea and let alone backing up the drivers in case of issues.

    A good way to avoid the second scam of customer picking up their own food is to not confirm pick up until you have the food in your hand. If you show up and its not there, then just wait for the restaurant to make it again for you. That is on them. I dont see how that scam even works.

    • @cgh7337
      @cgh7337 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Make sure to contact DD support once the merchant tells you the order has already been picked up. Support will contact the customer if they ever rec'd their order, of course the customer will lie & say they haven't. The merchant will remake the order & the scamming customer will basically get 2 orders for the price of 1. If they tell you to leave it at their door (as many customers request) make to take multiple pics & do your best to get the customer's address in frame of the pic. Good chance they'll lie again & claim you never dropped off the order.
      Basically C.Y.A!

    Good post. Scam 3 happened to me today. I fell for it. The new version is more complex. They are believable because they know the order you are going to so it sounds legitimate. After convincing you that they are DoorDash support They tell you that the app has been disconnected from a lot of dashers phones. They say that the order you’re on will be canceled and to pull over to a safe place so they can reset your phone in the system. Then they ask for the phone number and email. They tell you that they are texting authentication codes through the process and ask you to read them back. So that’s how they get around 2 factor authentication. They send a “temporary password “ by text. They send a password reset by email. Then they gain access and change the bank and fast pay accounts. They know every email and text you’ll get from the system and explain away each one and what you need to do to get back to work. It’s pretty slick. When I started getting orders and was concerned about my acceptance rating they even had answers for that. I’m quite experienced and I was scammed. Be careful out there. Most people are good but watch out for the evil ones.

    I had a DD driver deliver my order to the wrong person once. I was watching out the window for them and saw them go past my driveway. I figured they'd realize they had went too far and come back. A few moments later I heard another car start a bit up the road and the car went flying down the road. Obviously the driver had seen someone sitting in their car at the end of one of my neighbors driveways and assumed they were the customer. It was a big order ($50+) so I had no choice but to report it as not being received. I felt really bad for the dasher as this person basically stole from them. Since then I've started waiting at the end of my driveway for my orders. I think there should be an ID requirement to make sure food is being delivered to the right person.

      I record on my phone the address and the door and the food if there is a no contact delivery. Then also take a picture through the app. I delivered a BK order where the teenage boy bolted outside and met me at my car and took the order. DD sent me emails that the customer complained they didn't order BK, but I replied that a teen boy came to my car and took it like he was expecting it. DD agreed with me. Thank God!!

      I don't understand why they put on the app to leave it on the porch yet they get mad when we do that. I had my first delivery last week and the lady put in the wrong address. Luckily she was waiting for me outside and saw. She's like, "you were just going to leave it outside?" I was like, "umm that's what you have on the app." Then sje started acting like she didn't even know about that app and she never put that. I was so pissed and nervous since it was my first delivery.

    Another scam is you pick up delivery. Customer calls you to tell you that the wrong delivery address for them has been entered. They want you to deliver to a different address then what is in the app. If you deliver to new address. They will ask to leave at door. After delivery the customer will say you didnt deliver food to original address. Then they get a free meal. Dont go to new address unless customer support gives you the okay first or u will get scammed like this.

They took my earnings, luckily not as much as I usually make😟. It's been 4 days and I still can't use my Dasher as her account. The tier 3 escalation department doesn't call me back, they say they're working on it but keep sending me emails saying my car is closed. 1st one happened to me. Still remember his name. Customer named Jose. He ordered McDonalds. Order 3 happy meals and 2 cheeseburgers. I arrived to his place and he was waiting outside with his 3 daughters. I remember him because we even had a brief conversation and he seemed to be friendly but then later that night I received an email from doordash saying that “I will be deactivated for incomplete deliveries.” That was my last delivery and the only one from McDonald’s so I knew once support told me it was from McDonald’s that it was him. I had to explain to them and even told them the color shirt he was wearing even though they didn’t care. They did tell me that this is not the 1st time he has done it because they have the other times on his notes. Told me that they will be removing him from the app but that my rating couldn’t be changed. Had a 4.97 rating and because of his bad rating it went down to 4.87. Fast forward to yesterday I received an order and it was Jose just this time with a different last name. I recorded the whole drop off just Incase. I would share it here but I can’t upload a video in the comments. I don’t understand why people want to do this. They don’t know what that dasher has going on with his life. I have a full time job and I do this as extra but I would’ve been so upset if I would have gotten deactivated because a scum like him wanted to scam doordash for some free food

    Came here because I just an email from DD for not delivering customers food & I would face deactivation if I fail to respond. This was my last order of the night & an add on from another pickup at Cheesecake Factory. Customer meet me at the door but I was suspicious of the house being kinda rundown & 7 cars in driveway, usually Cheesecake Factory has me going to nicer places & they tip, this customer did not! Viewing my dashcam, clearly my google maps talk instructions can be heard saying I arrived at their address & I can be seen taking the yellow CF food bag out of my car for delivery, I don't use DD bags unless I have multiple bags. I did call DD phone support & they said my status is ok but one more non delivery & I'm done. I told DD this customer is scamming DD but they said it's too late because DD credited back the customer. I feel so violated & want to go back to customers house to break all the side mirrors on their cars...I wish DD had a rating system like Lyft where I could give this customer 1 star & warn other dashers.

Now and then I get a huge order and when I get there the restaurant says the order was picked up an hour ago and I am like the 5th driver to show up. My best guess? I had two of the three scams mentioned attempted on me, both failed miserably for the scammer. First, I had a customer claim I did not deliver his order. That was until I provided HD (1080p) Dashcam footage and GPS tracking info to driver support. I got video of me pulling up to the guy's house, him carrying the food into his house, and it was all stamped with GPS coordinates and timestamp. I would have loved to have seen the look on the customer's face if support showed him the video. Second, I had the third scam mentioned in the video tried on me as well. This was defeated by a simple rule I have... personal info is only given out face to face or a method I initiated (such as in app driver support chat). I don't care what they tell me (or how rude they are)... the info is not being given out. I recommend a dashcam and adobting the no info policy.

    I am very new to this gig, but I learn quick, yo! If there is an issue with their order, I text doordash and the customer immediately. I also text them when I'm on my way to their residence with a disclaimer that "...due to Covid-19 precautions, the bag is sealed at the restaurant and we are not allowed to open it to check contents. If there is an issue with your order upon receipt, please call customer service for correction." Once I reach the address, I text them and let them know I've arrived and that "as soon as I find an available legal and safe parking spot( because I ain't gettin' no ticket over this bs....) I'll be right up!" Most customers will usually text back "thanks!" or offer to come down. Oh, and I take pictures of EVERYTHING, baby!! Even on the "hand it to me" orders. Before I hand it to tem, I take a picture of it in my hand with their address in the in view if possible. If I have the time I also text him where it was left. Now, I know there will always be those steaming piles of excrement out there trying to get a free meal regardless, but it pays to cya..👍👍

      & my mom drove a couple years ago and she gave her info to a phisher! They changed the bank info and cashed out her earnings. She ended up getting reimbursed, but shortly after is when they started the 7 day verification process of changing bank info.
      They DEFINITELY need a speedier process than 7 days. Either 2FA like you said, or some other method.

      I fell victim to the last one not too long ago, told me that the customer cancelled the order and then said that if I got 5 more orders then I would get a 100 dollar bonus, didn't think anything of it because I thought that they were doing a promotion, so I gave him the information and he stole all my money, jokes on them though, I got their bank account number and their phone number and reported them to the police, so they will get arrested if they try it again

    Yooooo. "Victoria" when I was about 50+ deliveries in.. 1 tea drink order.
    I grilled the place, wondering wtf happened to my order.
    "Sorry, it was already picked up." they said. 15 seconds after accepting.
    I was sitting in the same parking-lot, I even contacted DD,
    and they said "we will help you next time". I cancelled the order quick,
    thinking it may help the customer get another driver to get it to her.
    It may have gotten me the lonely 2 star rating, and 97% "comp rate".
    Even though, I think DD did me good, and it vanished a couple days later..
    It's been racking my brain ever since, and it was a super close delivery. 😅
    All my percentages after 100+ deliveries are 99%/ 27 five stars, and 1 four.
    It took me a LONG time to get my "on time or early" down 1%..
    and that happened today, with a Chinese food restaurant. 😅
    Still got a REALLY nice tip for being straight forward to the customer.

    I believe I might have had the second one happen to me just the other day. I got an order to a restaurant shortly before it closed Not 2 minutes later the customer called and asked if I was lost finding her house. I had not gotten to the restaurant yet, which I told her. A few minutes later she texted saying that according to the restaurant the order had been picked up. I got to the restaurant and the order was gone. The restaurant refunded her money so she got what she wanted. Free food

    If DD is is legit calling you it will be An 855 number from the call center in the Philippines. The 650 is the customer contract number. If you figure out it’s an obviously shady customer before you get there and giving you crazy calls or texts non complete the order and move on. They can’t contact you after a reassigned and they can’t rate you.

    I had a situation where I accepted an order from Wendy's. When I arrived there, the manager told me that the order had been picked up. It turns out someone who pretended to be a dasher, deassigned that order and kept it for herself. I called customer service and the person whom I was picking up for and explained what happened. Customer service contacted me stating the other person was not a dasher and she hacked into another person’s account. Even I though I accepted the order which was $8.55, I still got paid in full and the customer was reimbursed as well. As far as the hacker, she’s serving jail time for 14 years.

    Yea I just got my first violation, the customer went in there app& marked they didn’t get the good!! I went straight to the chat & told the agent their name, address & the food they got. The agent called the customer & he got MAD that they called him, but he ADDMITED he got it lol!! Yet even tho the matter is settled, it still shows on my account. It stays in there regardless until I go another 100 deliveries without a violation then drops off. THAT pisses me off

      Question Scott. Because I had this attempted on me today, but felt fishy about it. My question is what info did you give to the scammer? Because all I gave was my name and phone number, he then asked for my account information and that's when I hung the phone up and contacted Dasher support.
      So im curious of what kind of info you had to give them to hack your banking info?
