The line Ke Xing Bei Gu Xiang really killed me when I read the novel several years ago. The first time I saw Wen Kexing and Gu Xiang's names, I joked with my friend: "You know what, their names remind me of Ke Xing Bei Gu Xiang, and it's like reciting poetry." Then I started to worry about the characters' fate because of my interpretation, and I convinced myself that I was thinking too much into it. Later, I literally cried one hour for Ah Xiang and Wei Ning's deaths when I read the last few chapters😭.
AvenueX's analysis of the meaning of character names is really great! Add on a little bit to her analysis. Xu, the willow catkin, flies around and has no root, and it is not able to stay in a place for long. Zhou Zishu picked "Xu" as his name shows that just like Wen Kexing, he saw himself as a wanderer who has no family and no home to return to. The name of the original novel of WOH is Tian Ya Ke, which basically means "the wanderers".

Yep. The official English Translation as far as I know is Faraway wanderers. I absolutely love that added on interpretation as it really is very accurate to the characters 😊

When you look at the character for ChengLing's name
It has the same character for the Series Title
SHAN HE LING
THE shan character for mountain
And the Ling character is in his name 😂
Yeah ChengLing is the real protagonist in this drama 😜

Yup, basically Cheng Ling is the real protagonist in this drama because seriously, how can there really have two anti-villains as the main lead characters in the usual drama or series, right? But because Cheng Ling is still young, so he can't be the lead for this drama, so they have to choose the adults to lead this drama instead, but yup, Cheng Ling is the real protagonist in this drama :) IF Zhou Zi Shu wasn't the lead, then he would totally be one of the villains, along with Wen Ke Xing, because the real protagonist of this drama is actually Zhang Cheng Ling, not him. hahah

Love this video. Think I cried a bit at Nienxiang's name念湘. (Go to hell, Mo Huaiyang!!!)
Also, Chengling成嶺 has two brothers: Chengfong成峰 and Chengluan成巒, and luan巒 still means mountains.
It changed nothing about lazy parents naming their sons with mountains.
And I was wondering, is the second brother the least favorite of the author and the scriptwriter?
Not only his name didn't come from that poem, but he also didn't even get to appear in any scenes!!!
