    Could not agree more, Chris. I canceled cable a few years back, and now really only watch TH-cam and some Netflix. The quality of content on this platform is astounding. I absolutely love contributing to this community.

      Hey man...yeah. Trying to talk my wife into canceling. I think I'm slowly wearing her down. Hey, I checked out your podcast...sounded really great! Let me know if you ever need a guest, I'd be happy to join in.

      Chris Salomone I really haven't missed it. I don't watch sports, so that isn't an issue. And thanks man! You know you're welcome anytime dude. Pick a Thursday you're available at 8pm ET and you're in.

      Agreed. I only watch youtube. The quality is astounding nowadays. No cable, satellite TV or subscription service for the last 13 months. [I might make a small exception in a few days when Grand Tour starts on Prime though :)]

    This is the first video of yours I've watched and I was blown away at how well everything was put together. From the sound, clarity, camera angles, lighting, the whole process.
    Loved watching it TWICE. Your project turned out great too and you gave me great gift ideas (the tools) for my dad who is an avid woodworker. Now I'm off to your other videos! Have a great day!

    Is all about the story telling! Chris, i really enjoy all you videos, your stories and your shots. I wish, i could speak so good English to incorporate them into my videos. Thanks for sharing so good content.

    • @Foureyes.Furniture
      @Foureyes.Furniture  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Bill. Just checked out one of your videos. It was really good! Excellent shooting. If you feel like speaking would help your videos, try it out. I know "Get Hands Dirty" does it. English is not her first language and it still comes off well. Thanks buddy :)

    Seeing your channel got me back into woodworking. In High school, I made a Kitchen table, Checkers Board, and a Jewelry box, but now, with the few tools I have, I'm trying to build myself a desk! Rock on brother!

      I've finished the leg portion! It's nothing terribly complex, but I'm pretty happy with how it's turned out for having only a table saw and chisels to work on it! What would you suggest as a finish for the top so that the finish doesn't dent easily while writing on it?

    • @Foureyes.Furniture
      @Foureyes.Furniture  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh my computer desk I just put a piece of thin glass. It's a better work surface than any wood....you don't have to worry about it. And if you ever don't like the look you can just slide it off.

    Great video and you made some great looking gifts! What's worked for me (sometimes) when making parts with large cutouts, is to make the cutout first and then cut the outside edges. Keep up the good work!

    Nice work young man. I too have value and appreciate wood. I live in Louisiana where the Cypress is King. I work primarily with the Sinker Cypress. Another wood I love and work with often is Southern Yellow Long Leaf Pine. The old stuff. I also use Brazilian Walnut (Ipe'). It is so good to see young men taking up woodworking. You are truly becoming a master craftsman.

      I've done a few but it's really hard to get them in my shop. Most of the time I do it, I have to end up filming stuff on the ground. I've thought about mounting a tripod quick release head on my ceiling for occasionally getting a shot like that.

    Recently scored a mother load of walnut flooring that was going to be dumped by some crazy floor tiler!. This will be a nice project to do coming up to xmas. Hey Chris.. you're a game changer!! you make the most beautiful videos.. I've just started my channel yesterday.. I've procrastinated for years about starting but finally did it.. like you're inspired by Casey and The Nerdwriter, I'm inspired by you.. My first video isn't unique or different in format from a lot of other youtubers.. But I had to start somewhere and hopefully my content will shine through.. I suppose thats the journey.. Hopefully one day I'll be the one inspiring.. cheers Steve

    • @Foureyes.Furniture
      @Foureyes.Furniture  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Steve...thanks! I just checked out the Christmas tree video. I think if you just mixed in the alternate shots, and close ups more early and often in the video, that would go a long way. The piece itself was unique enough to be interesting...and it's super timely. I think people will already enjoy what you're doing and you can grow fast.

    What do you use to finish your projects? Tung oil, bees wax, etc.? Also how many times do you sand and reapply? And about how long do you wait to sand? Sorry just want to get into woodworking and would like some tips :)

    • @Foureyes.Furniture
      @Foureyes.Furniture  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Matt. To be honest, I am no expert when it comes to finishing. I typically use a penetrating oil and I'll do up to 4 applications depending on how visible and prone to wear a particular area is. That is a wipe on, wait for a few minutes, wipe off whatever wasn't absorbed type of application. I don't really have any secret tips unfortunately. If anybody does, I'd like them too :)

    As a film student, I really appreciate your video and editing style. Great work on that AND your projects. I just completed a set of coasters myself, and - being concerned about water damage - used a spar varnish. It didn't bring out the colors like I wanted it to. So, my question to you is, what kind of finish did you use on them? The look great!

    • @Foureyes.Furniture
      @Foureyes.Furniture  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used an oil called Hard Oil #9 by BioShield. I am not an expert finisher by any means...but I would guess that in an ideal world you'd probably want to do some sort of an oil to get the natural color to pop...and then put a film coat like a poly over that to offer more protection.

      As an amateur with woodworker, I typically feel overpowered with the entire arrangement. Be that as it may, this arrangements drove me through with much clarity and effortlessness [Link Here== *TopFineWoodworking. Com* . I now work like a genius. That is great!?

      *TopFineWoodworking. Com* , is a very comprehensive woodworking book! It breaks every little thing down, utilizing words, drawings, real pictures, and different diagrams. It`s unbelievably informative and helps me feel like I could help my sibling while we make our furniture together.?

    Hey Chris, could you help me understand the logistics behind submerging the coasters versus wiping on the finish? Would that wood (lol) take a few coats anyways and the saturation just speeds up that process or am I way off? Thanks.

    • @Foureyes.Furniture
      @Foureyes.Furniture  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Witt...I just did it b/c it was quicker. I still did a few coats. I honestly can't say if it would make it saturate anymore than wiping it on (thickly.) But if I had to guess I would say it probably didn't.
