THANK. YOU. Gymnast is great haha not gonna lie I know people (myself included) who sometimes use his runs on his YT channel (when they’re not actually watching the run itself) to fall asleep because of his commentary lmaooo
For real. He should get a gig reading stories for people to fall asleep to or do some reading for Audible because his voice is really easy on the ears and oddly relaxing.
where it's a mirrored version of itself, i bet that would be lol. i thought about getting the Wii version but where link was left handed in all the others i was like eh idk. i've heard that it's better in some aspects though
This is the best couch commentary I´ve seen. They´re all so positive and clearly care so much for each other, plus they give really interesting comments on the tricks and the history of the spedrun community for the game. The announcer and them bring an amazing energy to the run. Also, AWOOOOOOOO!
Just realized that they recycled that animation of the boss disintegrating into particles and collapsing into the fused shadow. They used it in skyward sword for the imprisoned, just with a different particle texture.
1:16:25 he says “I don’t think anyone knows why that actually works.” I feel like it’s a pretty obvious answer. In my first playthrough, I didn’t think to use the Midna charge attack so I just attacked the feet for a minute or two with no effect before it clicked that the Midna charge was what I had to do. So that part isn’t actually about damage, it’s about the Midna charge. And as soon as you do the attack, the game flags that the battle is over and if you can exit the animation early, it still counts.
In the room at 39:15 you can actually land on the dangling platform in-front of the main entrance to the mini-boss (he takes the back entrance) from the room above, granting early access to the Boss & Claw Shot item (in Wii version). This makes the dungeon very confusing because you now have the Claw Shot and can use it on a LOT of stuff but none of it actually helps you do anything productive until you follow the intended route through the dungeon which involves activating some water flows (good luck thinking of things to do that don't involve the Claw Shot). The other annoying thing about getting the Claw Shot early? It makes all the game guides very, very hard to follow if you scroll down to sections talking about what to do after getting the Claw Shot item. Oh, and yes I pulled the trick off unintentionally the very first time I played the game.
I did that my second playthrough, also by accident. The enemy there swung his tail and happened to knock me onto that platform! It took me awhile to duplicate that manoeuvre w/o getting hit.
Holy shit this game came out in 2006? *Bones start creaking* but fr tho I think this is honestly the best LoZ game of all time. My favorite game of all time as well. Even tho part of me is screaming "why would anyone speedrun this, you're ruining one of the greatest stories in gaming history" but the other side of me is happy that there is such a devoted community to this game.
Yeah this game is massively underrated. I almost skipped playing it because I didnt want my friends to know I was playing a game called, "Twilight Princess". Haha! Turns out its the darkest/gnarliest Zelda game ever made. XD
This was my favorite game growing up. This and wind waker. I never finished them. I bought me a gamecube for my 21st bday and have beat both now and am interested in speed running them to further the childhood memories
this was one of the only super long runs I've watched in it's entirety from any GDQ. great stuff to the runner and couch to make it a fun and informative run!
Man, between this and WW, Gymnast was on the couch for over 10 hours of Zelda. Good thing too, since I love his commentary. It's always very clear and he makes all the glitches and tricks really easy to understand.
I really miss the fishing mini game from twilight princess. Throwing bombs into water just isnt the same as a relaxing canoe ride with links true waifu.
I know that Oot has some sort of version where you can see how the environments, dungeons etc are build by the developers. So let's say some weird hidden spot where I can actually hookshot too. Or that the green goo in one particular cave is actually just retextured lava and you could walk over it with the Goron Tunic without getting hurt. I bet that TP has one of those "versions" aswell. Not to say that no glitch is found by accident or some other way but that method is surely used.
One of the only I am willing to 100%, between this and Majora's Mask (which must be 100%, otherwise you're playing it wrong. speedrunners are the exception to this rule)
So great to always see LoZ be run at GDQ, especially All dungeons for TP because the run is sooo broken and interesting :) also, glad to see Gymnast back at GDQ even if he’s not running anything this time
I wanted more than anything to watch this live but I was so exhausted I kept passing out and missed big chunks of the game. This is one of my favorite LOZ games.
This randomly popped in my head, around the cutscene with Midna breaking the barrier around the castle. Are turbo controllers allowed in speed runs? Specifically for situations like when there's a tons of dialogue.
Thankfully, as they mentioned in the beginning, the text is auto so it’s much easier to skip than most other games. There are some that allow it (like Mario RPG), but yeah it’s generally considered TAS
I've only played this game once when it came out and looking at it now it seems like I've completely forgotten everything about it. There's actually nothing except the beginning area that I remember. What's interesting about this to me is that I almost completely remember every other Zelda game I've played.
A question for anyone deeper into the larger speedrunning community than I am: for Twilight Princess, are the GCN and Wii versions grouped together when discussing run categories (i.e. any%, all dungeons, etc), or are the two console versions different enough to warrant being separated?
I tried the EMS Morpheel fight myself and probably took about two hours to finally kill it. I hadn't played TP in years and completely forgot I was supposed to press A for the final blow, so I just kept doing that air refill trick and stabbing it 15+ times in a row...

Edit: my fault did not listen long enough
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate how pleasing gymnast is to listen to?
i have been watching this run over the last three days and updating comments just to see somebody comment on gymnast
THANK.
This couch crew is my favorite of this GDQ. They're very comfortable with each other and the game which makes it really fun to watch!
Did you see the Jak 3 run?
Watch jak 3 by thaRixer
I've only ever owned the Wii version of this game, so watching people play the GC version is always really disorienting >.
where it's a mirrored version of itself, i bet that would be lol. i thought about getting the Wii version but where link was left handed in all the others i was like eh idk. i've heard that it's better in some aspects though
Ikr! It doesn't feel like the Twilight Princess i know and love...
This is the same thing for me except I never owned the Wii version.
Ugh yeah. Seeing the root bridge to the forest temple inverted always throws me off...
This is the best couch commentary I´ve seen. They´re all so positive and clearly care so much for each other, plus they give really interesting comments on the tricks and the history of the spedrun community for the game. The announcer and them bring an amazing energy to the run. Also, AWOOOOOOOO!

now that you mention that ... huh ... never noticed that before
Okay
I think they did this with the dark creature you fly in TP and Loftwings in SS too
I was thinking the same it looked similar
Which boss exactly?
I have a complaint: when you said to take a nap, I did. *I woke up 10 minutes before the run finished.* thanks.
Thanks I hate it
@Elijah Groves Wish I could nap by flipping a switch in my head.
This is my favourite speedrun that I come back to time and again. Great game, great run, great commentary, and great atmosphere.
This game came out in 2006?!?!?! Ow, my age hurts.
if you know what this game is you're probably not that old
@@american_ape yeah except it was 12 years ago and many of us played it in our mid to late teens. That makes us old.
@@pfitz9346 I was 9 when this was out and 10 when phantom hourglass came out
I just finished playing Twilight Princess. Then this run gets uploaded. This is most definitely witchcraft.
Bruh same 🙈
13:00 today I learned I that getting out of the sewers doesn't take four hours.
1:16:25 he says “I don’t think anyone knows why that actually works.”
I feel like it’s a pretty obvious answer. I love twilight princess so much. I’m so happy to see this run :)

I like how even out of bounds visuals look absolutly gorgeous in this game.
I feel like Midna is the only generally helpful "minion" in any zelda game
The King of Red Lions is probably more useful, mainly because he's a boat
@@Grimblesmith Useful maybe, but as liked ?
Ezlo from Minish Cap is very useful tbh
Midna and King of Red Lions are both more like companions than "minions". That implies they're throwaways whose names you don't even bother learning
Did I think I was going to watch the whole thing? No. Did I watch the whole thing in awe and wonder? Yes.
What kind of sick masochist would try to route this game for a speedrun
The same kind that would make a TAS of it haha
Shut up
What kinda person would route a game for the hd version where 2 huge tricks were removed
You think that's tedious, you should see the 100% route
Wdym

best story in video game history...? I think you need to play a bit more games. This is not so different from any other zelda game
I love the simple joy all the little glitches give the runner and the couch, like seahorse link or the sword pantomime.
great commentary, great couch, great runner, great run! i had no idea there were so many strats to this torturous route
Always crazy seeing a game that took weeks to do done in a single sitting.

This is maybe my favorite video game ever! They should port it to the Switch!
but they already made an hd remake for wii u
There's a higher likelihood of SS being ported
What they should do is port ss,tp,ww in a bundle
Porting from Wii U to switch is pretty easy. They could totally do it
@@benjaminbroderick7133 also Oot
I always come back to this vid every so often, it's such a great run to watch and a great runner and couch commentary!
The announcer awooing is the cutiest thing ever
Great runner great couch. Agdq was so so good
This is one of my favorite youtube videos, and in my top #3 speed runs to watch
I can't believe I missed this last year! Amazing community with amazing commentary, wow! A class act from the runner and the couch all around!
So I know a guy named TAS who could blow this shit out of the water easily. It’s like every button input is frame perfect!
He’s so good he is literally on the couch (not even joking, gymnast86 made the TAS of this game).
Unpopular opinion: Twilight Princess is a great TLOZ game.
One of my favorites :)
**Unpopular**
Tbh it has the best Link in terms of character and feats. But overall it's great too.
That's not an unpopular opinion at all.
Same here my friend its nothing to be ashamed about.

This game described in one word: nostalgic. I remember playing this, and new super mario bros on the wii... Good times...
I really miss the fishing mini game from twilight princess. Throwing bombs into water just isnt the same as a relaxing canoe ride with links true waifu.
Oh boy, I remember how I used to boast I beat the game 15 times, and now, watching this
I’m on one hell of a nostalgia trip
How do these people even find these random, insane glitches?
Usually through exploration, often in tandem with using other glitches
as a community effort :)
I know that Oot has some sort of version where you can see how the environments, dungeons etc are build by the developers. So let's say some weird hidden spot where I can actually hookshot too. Sometimes luck, sometimes playing around with TAS software, or even checking the game's code itself.
lots of dedication and timeless experimenting
2:54:27 Aether makes the tiniest howl ever.
Hurray! Twilight Princess is the only Zelda game I've 100%ed.
One of the only I am willing to 100%, between this and Majora's Mask (which must be 100%, otherwise you're playing it wrong. speedrunners are the exception to this rule)
Me too! I got close with MM but couldn’t get the shooting game heart pieces. So like I 99.8%ed MM 😂😂
1:31:00 Hey link you wanna turn into a wolf? Cool here you g- OH GOD WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ME!?
I thought I figured out a lot of glitches and bugs as a kid .. and these guys get the iron boots under 8 minutes. Thats very impressive.
Couch commentary is top notch here
So great to always see LoZ be run at GDQ, especially All dungeons for TP because the run is sooo broken and interesting :) also, glad to see Gymnast back at GDQ even if he’s not running anything this time
Wind waker is my fav. But visually twilight princess aesthetics are my favorite.
Ayyy I love this game
Awesome run. Twilight Princess is my favorite zelda game ❤
SkyBlueAether seemed legitimately upset with himself that he died to morpheal.
It's so wierd to see my first and favorite Zelda thrashed so thoroughly
Spent countless hours as a kid on the Game cube. Way ahead of it's time this game was amazing to me
Wait,Dan Salvato donated here? Holy cow!
Awesome, a Zelda run without "Kaboom" every two seconds.
I wanted more than anything to watch this live but I was so exhausted I kept passing out and missed big chunks of the game. This is one of my favorite LOZ games.
@2:24:16 Link's hat is upside down here. But why doesnt his hat always go upside down when walking on ceiling. Hmm weird
Omg its been years since i played this game... It was soooo fun... I wasnt able to play it anymore when I was sooo close to beat the game😤
I didn't recognize Gymnast at first! Then he was introduced and I was to glad!
1:25:57 Look at the guy in the bg as link drops his bombs
Lmaoo
Dude I remember I rented this game back when it was a gamecube game at a BLOCKBUSTER video store I'm feeling old
This randomly popped in my head, around the cutscene with Midna breaking the barrier around the castle. Are turbo controllers allowed in speed runs? Specifically for situations like when there's a tons of dialogue.
Most of the time no, that counts as a tool and would make the run a TAS
Thankfully, as they mentioned in the beginning, the text is auto so it’s much easier to skip than most other games. There are some that allow it (like Mario RPG), but yeah it’s generally considered TAS
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. AWOO%
I just love this game.
I'm at 34 hours of playtime and I'm at the temple in gerudo. I'm completely enjoying the journey but man I'm slow..
2:23:16 Please tell me i heard that name right. Because i'm pretty sure i just heard the name of the DDLC creator
First runner I've ever seen who says "yeah, this other version we aren't using is 6 seconds faster but I don't care it's not important."
In a marathon, if the time loss from a trick going wrong is much greater than the time saved by it, you should not go for it
Yellow Killer Bee is an awesome host!
Just recognized the background of the timer is a binary clock, took me surprisingly long
Great run of one of my favorite games. Water temple without Zora amor? Didnt know that this is possible. 0_o
The nostalgia, kind of makes me sad
I love this game - what a great run
You smell that? Yeah, me too N O S T A L G I A
Nice job on Morpheel, that boss fight looks hella hard without the Zora suit.
The algorithm decided that I needed to see this, so I've decided that i need to go out and buy a WiiU to go and play this.
I've only played this game once when it came out and looking at it now it seems like I've completely forgotten everything about it. There's actually nothing except the beginning area that I remember. What's interesting about this to me is that I almost completely remember every other Zelda game I've played.
Then you could take that as an oportinity to experience this game again! Is pretty good
Having spend many hours playing the Wii version, the GameCube mirroring everything is weird.
Dan Salvato donated at 2:23:43 - I wonder if he is the same guy that made Doki Doki Literature club.
It is, he was a GameCube/Wii modder way before that game
I'm still in awe over how in the world people actually figure these shortcuts out lol
wow can't believe you completed the intro and then were able to clip out of bounds to get straight to the ganondorf fight!
Loving the Wolf howl calls lol

im curious about who they are talking about at the 2:00:00 mark about the super long trick. anyone can help a curious outsider ?
I'm not sure, I don't pay attention to the Low% scene, the runner TakaRikka (Twitch) is the only person I could think that it would be.
Could have been anorakkis
do you do the back in time or is that hd i forgot
at the beginning of a run i awlays think "damn thats so long" but at the end im always like "damn, over already?"
while i was watching this my dad asked if it was "that wind walker game", just thought i'd share
Thank you
Since I played on the wii, the mirrored map keeps confusing me lol
2:23:15 Wait, Dan Salvato ? The creator of DDLC ? Nice !
He was a GameCube and Wii modder way before he did that game
Awesome run!
The donator-announcer's voice is quite literally the cutest thing ever
51:40 is THE moment
Sooooo Underrated!!
It took me fricking 9 hours to get to the third dungeon (the Zora one) and takes u like 4 hours to beat the game 😂
How do they make it look so good via stream? What setup are they using?
39:21 I am in agreement. Spent hours trying to do that on my Wii version, thank goodness I'm not a speedrunner.
This is so fun
one of the better runs of this agdq uwu
can we have a TAS run of this game next year?
It's too long to be shown in the TAS block
Those donations puns were just awooful

Woah is Gerudo Desert goldeneye 64?
Is the hd version the Wii version?
