on Samsung 23 Ultra I already had it "always allow all" for gallery and for fb messenger APP to allow photo and video, not talking facebook app that has messenger within it. Its not allowing "messenger stand alone app to share. So... if I am in *gallery* on a photo and hit share icon hit messenger (it asks chat or your story) hit chat a pop comes on "allow messenger to access your camera roll? and it say I have to give external app permission for camera roll... to allow ... but I dont see camera roll in that apps permission list. Now if I am on the same messenger app, in a chat, hit the add photo icon... it goes to my gallery fine and works that way. But that is a long way to send a photo/video if I am in gallery and want to send one from there. any answers on that???? thanks
iPhone - Under ‘Settings > Apps > Messenger > Photo Library Access’ the options for allowing access to photos no longer offers 3 options including ‘All photos’, now only 2 options: ‘None’ OR ‘Add Photos Only’. With the latter selected, still unable to add photos. This is after updating iOS, App, restarting iPhone and reinstalling App. Apple has zero solutions. Anyone know if this is an App issue rather than iOS issue?
I had the same thing happen to me so I had to first delete messenger then go to facebook tap the messenger icon then something should pop up like allow access to photos and whatever then you press allow all access then redownload messenger and it should ask you the same thing when you sign back in and that should do it
theres no photos option when i open the messenger settings, and when i go to photos settings and go to app permission its entirely blank. not sure what to do
I just got the Galaxy s24 and moved all my apps from my old phone over to my new. But for some reason my new phone wouldn't allow me to share pics in messenger, even though I had my permissions set to "Allow"? Then I found out that I had to "Deny" the permission settings on my old phone, even though that phone was shut down and in a drawer? But anyway it's working now,....
As of this morning, I can't send pics on Samsung Galaxy Ultra23. I did all that you say but doesn't work. I've cleared cache on many different apps. What to do now? I send pics on messenger yesterday.
I set it to "Ask every time", tried sharing and it worked again (it prompted for permission). This worked properly as expected. Then changed back to "Always allow" and it fixed it on Google Pixel 7 after recent Android update.

On Android I still get a popup "Allow messenger access to your camera roll" although I did enable the permissions earlier. This started happening since the latest Android update. Messenger app is up to date.
Repro steps: 1) open camera roll and scroll to a photo you want to share. 2) click the share button at the bottom (looks like a V turned sideways with round dots at end of branches) 3) select Messenger app then Chats. Result: popup "allow Messenger access to camera roll" although it's already enabled...
Android as well. Doesn't work for me either. There is no camera roll permission to select
I have the same problem I use samsung s23 ultra.. When I want to send pictures its all black and I can't find camera roll permission.
To fix this issue, go to messenger permissions and deny photo and video. Then reselect the permissions you want and it will fix the issue.
@@IndestructibleTurtle IT works for me, ty so much
@IndestructibleTurtle Your advice worked for me too! Ty so much!!

Same thing is happening to me after the latest Android update, pixel 7a. Maybe a bug
Same here. It only started recently because it used to work fine. Must be a bug in the last update.
