I really love this machine. I have a Juki Coverstitch and a Bernette 334DS serger (made by Juki and 30+ years old). (I also have a Bernina 910 same age and a newer Bernina B530 which lacks MANY of the great features this machine has). For those who have seen negative reviews regarding lofty fabrics and skipped stitches, I believe those are from user error. You can sew anything on this with making a few adjustments to the presser foot. Yes, I have had skipped stitches--remedied by using the correct needle with the thread choice. Such would be true with any machine. The 12" of throat space makes it a dream to finish large quilts without feeling that you are wrestling an allipython. In fact, it is the PRIMARY reason I bought it. I don't need or want a longarm--just a dependable machine with features to enable frustration free quilting--in this regard, this is a fantastic machine. It also has many features that would cost you thousands more in other brands--and even then you don't get as much throat space. The features and benefits/$ to purchase is very high. That second foot pedal is wonderful. For those who like to paper piece, the beginning and ending patterns make paper piecing a dream. The smart feed/dual feed system is fantastic. For quilters...there is no walking foot attachment, and you don't need one. Make sure that you download the Juki Accessories catalog. If you wish to get a hopping foot or a metal ruler foot, (a plastic one comes with it), you will need to buy an adapter. The accessory catalog is a no fail road map for what fits. A must have is an edge stitch foot that works with the smart feed (these are feet that have a cut out in the back). The foot is less than 20 and is wonderful for stitch in the ditch as well as topstitching machine binding down.

Thanks so much for this. I really wish you would demo FMQ on this machine with the foot included. the manual is super confusing. How to deal with the settings apart from dropping the feed dogs and setting the stitch length to zero. EG working with foot height when it is not a spring foot. How to set the tension and what speed to travel with? I have been "quilting" with this for 3 years and still don't know what I'm doing and my results are no improving. I literally do not turn the machine off in between sessions once I find some tension combination that seems to work. Because all of the sudden the tension goes nuts. I got this because of the size of the throat space and I'm not having fun with it on the FMQ. Please help.

Doesn't this machine have a bobbin warning when it's about to run out? I love the machine's harp space and some really cool features, but to be honest, I only piece and free motion/ruler quilt on my machine, no need for all the stitches, though I've made bags, tablet covers and cellphone covers in the past. I don't really sew, just quilt, not a fan of making small stuff. I have a Juki HZL G220 that I've barely learned how to use, but I'm afraid the throat is too small compared to my former machines, a Brother PQ1500 straight stitch with 9" throat then a Janome 7700 with an 11" throat. I sold the Janome after a few years because it was a Cadillac and complete overkill for what I do. I've looked at the Baby Lock Jazz 2, but am not impressed with the loudness and vibration of it at high speed, yet it's basically what I want (no one seems to love their Baby Lock machines on the forums). Does Juki have anything with a throat space over 9" that is not super-computerized and, hence, very pricey? I fear no one makes a machine that really suits me. I know the Juki TL 2010Q, and subsequent similar incarnations of it, is pretty much identical to the Brother 1500 other than the speed control missing on the Brother, but is there something else Juki makes that might fit the bill? I just got the NX7 and I’m pretty sure I’m off to a good start - except, I cannot get it to leave a longer thread after the auto cutting. 2 out of 5 times the thread comes out of the needle and I have to rethread the needle. I tried adjusting the tension down a bit and have rethread it numerous times. Any ideas?

What kind of leather? Pho leather yes :) Genuine leather its not made for but it can do a light pliable leather. Just take into consideration the biggest needle you can use is a 16 needle.
I checked out reviews elsewhere- several weren’t favorable. Problems with pressure foot and inability to sew lofty fabrics- skipped stitches. Was it recalled? What feet/accessories come with it? Thanks for any help deciding.
This machine offers a lot. Unfortunately a lot of people get these machines and don't get the education needed from their dealers. You shouldn't have issues with lofty fabrics with all the adjustments you can make with this machine. I would recommend joining Juki Junkies on fb and posting your concerns on there. I saw these "reviews" as well when I was considering buying this machine. I have experienced skipped stitches---but easily remedied by changing the needle and ensuring that the needle and thread choice were properly married. Often people do not know how to use the basic operations, and when confronted with problems blame the machine and write negative reviews. The machine has lots of adjustments for the foot pressure and height, and I have had NO problems sewing. This machine has so many great features. I bought this machine as an addition to my sewing room. With its 12" of throat space, it easily handles my largest quilts. It has so many great features. I really love my machine.

You can slow it your self in settings. Go to the top right corner of your you tube screen that looks like a wheel and should have a drop down box and a choice for playback speed
I bought a DX7 less than a year ago. After I saw this video, I'm already ready to upgrade. I'm just getting back into sewing and this machine appears to have all the extra features I could ever want. Thank you for showing the extra features!
@@ZaarsShed Don't get me wrong. The DX7 is a great machine! I ultimately decided to upgrade to the DX-4000QVP to get a few more features. At first, I was intimidated by all of the computerized features on the DX-4000QVP but soon discovered that they are my friends. The large screen display and visual aids allow me to select the proper stitch more easily. More importantly to make adjustments and view exactly what's being adjusted on screen. This machine is also Wi-Fi enabled! Crazy amount of built-in help tools as well as the manual at your fingertips. Minor cons for me with the DX7: The bobbin winds only to 2/3 full capacity. Therefore, you'll need to wind them more often. The lighting is fairly basic (which might not bother you). It does not come with a built-in walking foot; not a big deal if you don't mind changing feet when you need it. Lastly, I was unable to locate a feature which allows you to adjust the presser foot pressure to accommodate various thicknesses of fabric. I'm not an expert by any means but felt the upgrades were well worth it for me for the type of sewing I am doing. I hope this helps. Happy Sewing!

Sandra I also have this HZL-NX7 and a new Juki 2010 Q I love my straight stitch so much but I wanted to be able to have something to do some of the embroidery things with. I also like the zig zag stitch feature for some things I don’t want raw edges on.
I'm having a really bad rough sewing sound in the bobbin case area or under the machine when I'm sewing. The stitch is perfect. I have changed everything I can think of. But I just don't know what else to do. Are there issues with this people have found? My machine is only a few months old
I have the same issue come up from time to time too. I read somewhere to add a single drop of oil to the channel around the round metal disc/circle located under the bobbin case. I swirl it in and remove any excess with a foam cleaning swab and it solves the problem instantly. Maybe if Boki or Dave read this they can comment if that is an okay thing to do or not. All I know is that it works and after after 2 years of doing it only when I hear that noise, I can't see that it has harmed my machine in any way. If anything, I am now hearing the noise less frequently.
I'm scared of the straight stitch plate. I'm afraid because of my carelessness. If I start to sew a zig zag stitch with that plate on, I'd ruin that plate. Beautiful machine.

Can you program the right side of the foot to do more than one thing; i.e, lock stitch, then cut the thread?

This is a really smart machine. I use a felling foot all the time, but one isn't available for Juki. Does it take Pfaff or Janome feet?

How is juki nx7 different from juki ux8? I cant decide which one should i buy! Price wise is not a huge difference
The UX8 is the version overseas. The NX7 model # is in the USA.
The screen on UX8 is bigger than NX7, about the same as dx4000. Not sure about other differences
