There is a plastic part on threader that has a tiny metal peice that if it’s bent you won’t be able to thread this machine. Replacement part is under 10 bucks. Watch Juki junkies they have a video on this. Easy to replace. I bought 2 cuz I know it can get bent easy and who needs the frustration.
I have this awesome machine and I used to use the bobbin winder just as you are, fiddling trying to get that pin in the right spot, until I saw another youtuber simply set the bobbin down on the spool and lightly spin it til it sat into the pin! No more fiddling.

I just purchased my first Juki, took it out of the box today! It's TL18QVP. I will look into the Left Compensating Foot, don't think that's in my feet. Thank you so much for the tutorial!
When I bought my Juki at the Houston Quilt Festival a few years ago, I admit, I'd never heard of the brand. I bought the TL-18QVP and I'm still impressed with the power this baby has! I was told by several people at the show and since, that the TL model is a workhorse. I've started making bags and pouches and I just love it. I still use my electronic machine for quilt piecing, but the TL is my go-to for the bulkier projects. There is a TH-cam channel called Juki Junkies and they have a lot of good information. Thank you for your video, it was very helpful 😊
The Juki TL is such a fantastic machine-definitely a dream machine for many! 😊 Saving up for it will be worth it, and I’m sure it will take your projects to the next level. Keep going, and you’ll have your Juki in no time! 🌟
@@staceyleecreative Thank you so much, I will save my funds and hold tight to my money until I can afford the Juki TL. Thank you so much for your wonderful response
The left compensating foot looks great as I like to put binding on pillows but it’s hard getting the binding to fit right. This foot looks like what I need. Thanks 😊
Hello Thank you for this tutorial on features for the TL machine. It's always good to watch videos because everyone has something a little bit different to say. Thank you you for your time and effort I appreciate it.
I don’t own a Juli but wanted to hear your info on the machine. Thanks for the tip about the magnetic bowl for often used feet. Love the idea of not dropping a foot as it is magnetized.💕
Hi Stacey, I had a little drapery company and had all power sewing machines. My biggest regret is selling my power serger and my power straight needle. I’m over it with these little wimpy slow machines. I’m thinking about getting a Juki industrial. I really miss the knee lift And I really miss how fast these power machines can go. Thanks again again. I really enjoy all your videos.
I think you would love the Juki. The TLs also have speed and a knee lift; so check them out too ❤ I highly recommend Juki Junkies: jukijunkies.com/ref/staceylee/
I’ve been researching all the specs on the TL series, and I was trying to decide if 25-ish pounds qualifies as “heavy,” so I looked up the weight of my bernina, which I definitely consider heavy, and I learned, that thing weighs 33 pounds 😮! And I used to carry that machine in its case on one shoulder and my 17 pound dog in his case the other shoulder around New York semi-frequently! I think the juki will feel remarkably portable 😅. Thank you for making this video! I’m always very appreciative of people who share their thoughts after having owned a machine long enough to really get to know it.
Wow, Stella, carrying a 33-pound Bernina and a 17-pound dog around New York must have been quite the workout! 😅 The Juki TL series will definitely feel more portable in comparison. 😊 Thank you so much for watching the video and for your kind words-I’m glad you found it helpful! ❤️✂️
Wonderful, descriptive video Stacey! I love my TL2010, and have had it for about a year and a half now. I love it's speed, and that it is a straight stitch machine. Did I understand you correctly about oiling every 3 to 4 months? Interesting.......I oil everything every bobbin change.....and I sew A LOT! LOL
I oil my machine every bobbin change too. I have the TL18. I have also never been able to get my bobbin to click-it is seated and works fine, but I’ve never been able to get a click out of it. Have yet to figure out why.
Yes the information was giving to me from Juki Junkies. You oil the bobbin are every change. You can over oil them, in which case if you opened it up you may have a big pool of oil inside.
It seems like Juki's answer to the vintage Bernina Record series. The Bernina had automatic tension and more stitches, but the Juki has the knee lift and needle threader.
Love my Juki TL2010 but had to stop using the pressure foot knee lift because my stubborn brain kept remembering my mom’s knee controlled sewing machine I grew up on & would not stop reminding me to use the lifter to run the machine 😂
Here's a tip. Paint the pressure foot shank white and you'll forget it has a needle threader. Want to test it? Hold a piece of paper behind the needle eye and you'll see the eye much easier.
The THREAD CUTTER! . And its option on the foot (heel) pedal. In combination with the knee lift, It's a 1-2 action hands free . And I NEVER lost a thread with the cutter.
Excellent video. Thank you. One thing however that really annoyed me. I was cleaning my Juki one day, and the foot plate fell on the floor. The plate that bends. Anyway the tiny screws (can't remember if it was one or two) that hold it together fell off and the plate came apart. I have never seen a screw so small. Thank goodness Juki junkies had a how to video on changing your foot plate or I never would've been able to put it back together. You would think on such a expensive machine they could've at least used a larger screw so you could actually see it. So just be careful with that plate when you're cleaning your machine!
great video thkyou .. i have just bought my first juki .. hzl 60 series .. i did buy universal shmetz needles for leather .. 120/19 and 130 /21 but they dont seem to fit .. well they do but cant get the needle holder back on .. do you know what best needle for this machine .. what will sew leather thks
Not being very familiar with the Juki models, I was wondering if it does any stretch or zig-zag stitches. All the features you have mentioned are great (and especially that knee lift!), but I would need a machine that does a bit more than straight stitching. Thank you for your well presented video.
The thread cutter on the foot pedal is my favorite feature on my Juki. What’s getting to me is the bobbin is hard to access and you never know when it will run out. I also find it quite noisy. Other than that it’s a work horse.
The autothreader on my TL-98 worked perfectly every single time On the TL-2010, I got it to work just one time. Once. I replaced it, adjusted it, still no go😩 But I won't trade my TL for any other machine!
After I’ve wound my bobbin and have it in the case it’s very loose so when I turn it on the side to put into the machine it often falls out of the bobbin case. Is it supposed to be that loose? Thanks for the video it was quite informative.
I have the TL2300 Sumato, I’m in the UK and don’t know if it’s available elsewhere? Apart from mine not having an auto threader it seems like the same machine. Useful videos, thank you 🙏
Hello just bought a TL2000qi!!! Can’t wait until it arrives! I was wondering what you set your tension on for quilt piecing? Thank you Good video, hadn’t seen anything about oiling it
I bought my magnetic bowls at Harbor Freight. I got a set of 3. I keep one by machine, one on my cutting table and one on my ironing board. I use them all the time.
Thank you for a very helpful video! I have a comment and a question. My comment is I had to get a repair person to show me the feed dog switch. It’s easy to drop down by to engage it back up again you have to turn a full rotation to get it to stay up. 😅 my question is, I don’t like the plastic case my Juki TL2010q came with can you suggest a case that would fit it? I switch back and forth with my Juki and my Viking SE.
Great video. thanks for your sharing. anyway i have a same one but i still have a big struggle with the foot control , really bad experience with cutting function. Do you have any advice, please…😢
Hi, the idea of thsi video wasn't to be a review because there are so many out there, it was more the little things no one tells you. But yes you get set the needle to be up or down when you stop sewing. Buy from Juki Junkies with my link to get a free gift with purchase: jukijunkies.com/product/juki-tl-2010q/ref/staceylee/
Thank you for such an informative video! I've had my TL-2010Q for about 10 years, but didn't know about oiling the bobbin area.! I was wondering if you could share where you got your left compensating foot and what brand it is. The Juki brand is super pricy, but others for high shank machines are not. Many thanks for your help and for creating such a great video!!
Glad it helped! Yes I use the Juki Left Compensating foot. I only used genuine items on my machine, I don't want to risk putting something out of kilter. Here is the link: jukijunkies.com/product/compensating-foot-left-1-5mm/ref/staceylee/
@@staceyleecreative I tried it and it doesn't work. Then I ordered a dual foot control. One pedal operates the speed and the other operates the thread cutter. Still waiting on delivery.
Does the kneelift, when installing, snap into place or just kind of sit in the opening? I don't use mine because it starts to back out of the opening after several up/down movements.
Loved your video. You have a great talking voice. I could probably research it but can i use prewound bobbins that are not metal? Would it cause problems with tension etc.?
Thank you Stacey for another great video. I do have a question about the Juki that you use. Since it is industrial , does it have any problems sewing multiple fabrics? My grandkids like Rag Quilts and sometimes I have problems with my machine that I have now not being able to sew through multiple pieces of fabric. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks again.
Hi I am sorry I don't know why that is happening, I have never had that problem. But please contact the dealer where you bought your machine so they can help you work it out.
Knee lift is fantastic. But this model has it further to the left than most machines. I find it awkward and a design flaw. Others have mentioned same. My Juki Kirei has it perfectly positioned.

Not being very familiar with the Juki models, I was wondering if it does any stretch or zig-zag stitches. All the features you have mentioned are great (and especially that knee lift!), but I would need a machine that does a bit more than straight stitching. Thank you for your well presented video.
No I am sorry the Juki TL sewing machines only do a straight stitch. It's a semi industrial sewing machine 😊
Great tutorial teaching some things I didn’t know. Thank you 🙏🏼 😊
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for your support!
The thread cutter on the foot pedal is my favorite feature on my Juki. What’s getting to me is the bobbin is hard to access and you never know when it will run out. I also find it quite noisy. Other than that it’s a work horse.
Yes the cutter on the foot pedal is a game changer! 😊 I appreciate you watching my video and taking the time to leave a comment 😊
The autothreader on my TL-98 worked perfectly every single time
On the TL-2010, I got it to work just one time. Once. I replaced it, adjusted it, still no go😩 But I won't trade my TL for any other machine!
Oh no! I don’t know why you are having trouble with the threader
I love my juki, and thanks for some info I didn't know about. 🇨🇦
I'm always happy to share information with others! thank you for leaving a comment!
I loved all the things you shared but I’m not sure yours cuts the thread with the foot pedal when you step backwards
Hi there, yes, it does have the thread cutter function in the foot pedal 😊
I love love love my Juki sewing machine but I CANT unscrew the top plate to clean under it .....please help me
Oh no! I know Juki junkies unscrew it before sending the machines out for this reason. I would contact the dealer you purchased it from.
This is my next sewing machine.
Yay! 🥳
I have a link in my description. Use code LEE2022 for a free gift with purchase
I am considering this machine .. like I need another machine! lol 😂 I enjoyed this video. Thanks! ❤

Awesome! Thank you! :)
Can one position the needle on the left, center, or right side? Or is it stationary in one spot?
Hi there! 😊 The needle on the Juki is stationary and doesn’t move-it stays in one spot.
After I’ve wound my bobbin and have it in the case it’s very loose so when I turn it on the side to put into the machine it often falls out of the bobbin case. Is it supposed to be that loose? Thanks for the video it was quite informative.
Hi, no it’s not. If anything you want it to be firm like a spool of thread. I think you must be not wrapping it around the tension disc.
I have the TL2300 Sumato, I’m in the UK and don’t know if it’s available elsewhere? Apart from mine not having an auto threader it seems like the same machine. Useful videos, thank you 🙏
Wonderful - I love Juki 😊
Hello just bought a TL2000qi!!! Can’t wait until it arrives!
I was wondering what you set your tension on for quilt piecing?
Thank you
Good video, hadn’t seen anything about oiling it
I don’t touch my tension. It should come to you set up. I had a problem with mine at first but never touched it since.
Enjoyed your video very much. Lots of good pointers.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much for watching 🙏
Thank you! I have a Juki on my wish list. Thank you for the tips. Where did you get your magnetic bowl?
I bought my magnetic bowls at Harbor Freight. I got a set of 3. I keep one by machine, one on my cutting table and one on my ironing board. I use them all the time.
Thank you! I will have to look the next time I am there.
Hi, I got it from Missouri Star Quilt Company 😊 glnk.io/mzmmj/staceyleecreative
Thank you for a very helpful video! I have a comment and a question. My comment is I had to get a repair person to show me the feed dog switch. It’s easy to drop down by to engage it back up again you have to turn a full rotation to get it to stay up. 😅 my question is, I don’t like the plastic case my Juki TL2010q came with can you suggest a case that would fit it? I switch back and forth with my Juki and my Viking SE.
Hi, I am not sure what you mean. Do you mean a travel bag? I know Juki sell them 😊
Great video. thanks for your sharing. anyway i have a same one but i still have a big struggle with the foot control , really bad experience with cutting function. Do you have any advice, please…😢
I have never had a problem. I would contact the shop you purchased it from and they can help you resolve the issues.
Why tl 98E having this problem all pelectrical out are plug in but but sometimes will sew and other it will not how do I fixture this problem
I don't know why that is happening. I would contact the dealer you purchased the machine from and they will help you get it fixed. 😊
Does it have memory needle down feature since that is quite important for me? Great review, thank you.
Here is the link:

@@staceyleecreative, thank you so much!!!
Buy a TOWA tension guage. Set the correct tension on your bobbin. Then any tension issues will only be in the top tension.
Great idea 💡
I would luv t know how u clean the Juki .
I clean mine regularly when I change the needle and oil the machine, remove the plate and bobbin trace, clean with a brush and swap before oiling.
I should do a video on just that! Thanks for the idea ❤
Is there a needle up position when machine stops
Yes, you set it to your preference 🤩
Hi, could you link to the 1/8 inch left compensating foot that you showed for binding. You said 1/8 inch but I only can find one 16th. Thank you.
Sure thing:
📌 Left Compensating Foot: jukijunkies.com/product/compensating-foot-left-1-5mm/ref/staceylee/
I just checked the website and it says 1/16 which is even better!
Just got a TL2000 and am really glad I found your video!! Are there other uses for the left compensating foot than binding?
Lots of things. I just used it to make bag straps 🤗
I love my Juki but not the foot control. The thread cutter seems to engage at the most inopportune times, mostly when I am doing free-motion work.
Oh, you can buy a piece to attach to it to turn it off 🤗
@@staceyleecreative I tried it and it doesn't work. Then I ordered a dual foot control. One pedal operates the speed and the other operates the thread cutter. Still waiting on delivery.
@@andreagrimes9721 Oh that doesn't seem right. It's just a little piece of plastic you attach that stops that cutter working. Perhaps it was faulty.
Where can I find the magnetic feet holder tray?
Here: glnk.io/mzmmj/staceyleecreative
Thank you
Thanks for watching ❤
Does the kneelift, when installing, snap into place or just kind of sit in the opening? I don't use mine because it starts to back out of the opening after several up/down movements.
I’d need to check. But I haven’t had a problem with it coming out. ☺️
Loved your video. You have a great talking voice. I could probably research it but can i use prewound bobbins that are not metal? Would it cause problems with tension etc.?
Sorry for the late reply. I have heard the Glide prewound bobbins work a treat, but I haven't tried them myself.
Thank you.
Sorry for not replying earlier.
The beauty of a Juki TL is that it is semi industrial, so it can easily sew through many layers.
My Junk is coming un threaded way to often. Mostly when I have used the thread cutter. How can I fix this problem? Its really obnoxious.
Hi I am sorry I don't know why that is happening, I have never had that problem. But please contact the dealer where you bought your machine so they can help you work it out.
My Babylock Quilters Choice Professional is identical to the Juki TL. I can drop the feed dogs for fmq. Are they the same machine?
Hi, no they are not. TLs have been around for years and are semi industrial.
Thank you !
You're welcome! ❤
Great info. Thank you.
Where can I get the magnetic tray?
Harbor freight carries them a lot less expensive than other places They have A 4 INCH ONE FOR 2.99...
Hi, I got it from Missouri Star Quilt Company: glnk.io/mzmmj/staceyleecreative
Hi Stacey, What a great video, I have been looking at the TL2010Q. Just wondering what thread type you have in the large cone there?
Hi, I use Glide and Wonderfil Specialty thead.
Thank you great info
Thanks for watching!
My auto threader seldom works. Most of the time I just thread it manually. Other than that I love this machine.
Oh no. You can replace it if you think it might be faulty 🙃
Nice machine and very informative video.😃
So happy you found the video informative. Thank you for encouragement!
Knee lift is fantastic. But this model has it further to the left than most machines. I find it awkward and a design flaw. Others have mentioned same. My Juki Kirei has it perfectly positioned.
Interesting, I haven't had a problem with it! 😊 Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, I really appreciate it ❤
