Remember: this is the guy who built a working pod racer as a child. He’s always possessed the technical know-how to construct a space-craft, and training in the Force means he can not only manipulate gears and components, but power up circuitry and battery charges. So of *course* he can repair a damaged fighter.
This isn’t “Force Engineering”. It’s telekinesis taken to it’s nth degree. Vader was able to fix his suit. So now, this is showing us how much he’s improved since then. Now he can fix his ship in a few minutes. It’s consistent and amazing.
I mean he was a good mechanic even as a child so him being able to put complex machinery back together using telekinesis isn't that crazy.

Lord Vader has this before, rebuilding his cyberlimbs in one of the recent Darth Vader series (while attempting to get his new lightsaber crystal)
Yes true he survived falling off a cliff and one of his legs did fall off true
Nothing really "new" about that ability, considering Vader repaired his own suit, more than once, using nothing but the Force. He even rebuilt his suit while floating inside a bacta tank, limbless.
Maybe not "brand new" - But it's certainly the only time we've seen a force user maker short notice quick repairs to a vehicle.

Nothing new really. Jedi assemble stuff with the Force all the time. And we've seen Vader re-creating a ship after it got blown to pieces in the Jocasta Nu comic
Remember how Vader was Mr Fix-It as a kid in Episode 1? He probably knows every inch of that Tie Fighter and is able to turn bolts etc with the Force.
This isn’t a force power it’s just Darth Vader using his skills as a mechanic and the force in combination. Technically any force user that knows electronics/mechanics this well could do this, they would just have to know what they’re doing without being able to see it.

Well engineering isn’t even the right word for it but yeah I get what you’re trying to say
Engineering is when you design something thing but putting together a lightsaber with pre made parts is simply telekinetic construction of multiple objects into a single object and what Vader did would be mechanical repairs using the force to bend damaged metal or reach something in his ship without taking the whole thing apart.
Engineering would be if he had designed his own Tie Fighter design from scratch

Haha, no. He has multiple force abilities enough to kill the emperor 3 times over but not regenerating those limbs. He should focus on his burnt lungs and manhood before regrowing his limbs
Reminds me when I used to play video games against my own father. He'd gravely tell me that "Youth and Skill will always fall before Old Age and Treachery." Usually as he was cheating. I do the same now with my little girl. Circle of life and all that.

I don't think "force engineering" is any different than a youngling assembling their lightsaber with the force.
It’s not a new power it’s called Mechu-deru. He just paired it with his telekinesis.
Reminds me of Darth Nihilus's ship the Ravager, a decimated ship only held together through the force.
This is actually a light side ability know as forces building, the only places mentioned this was Lego star wars Frimaker edition, then Roen became a jedi and are able to build ships of scrap
In EU darth nihilus ripped a star destroyer out of orbit of malachor 5 using a similar power.
Vader isn't even the only one to use it. I don't know if it's cannon. However there was a show called "Lego Star Wars Freemakers" it aired of Disney Channel a couple years ago and was on Disney+ for a while. It featured a child that was taught by a person whom used both sides of the force to become a force user, but finish force training by training himself. Because of his masters betrayal. One of the force abilities he learned was to use the force to build things out of lego. I think he also learned to take things apart buy he hardly ever use that power. This is technically force engineering, because he would use it to build lego ships that would "fly".
In the pre-Disney canon books, (in my original post I had it as Luke and Mara Jade's son but he was actually Han and Leia's third child), Han and Leia's son, Anakin had the Force Technology/Engineer, just like his grandfather (remember Anakin in The Phantom Menace built C3PO and his pod racer)
Mara Jane and Luke's son name was Ben Skywalker. Anakin was the third child of Han and Leia

this reminds me of how Jedi construct lightsabers so Vader being familiar with ships makes sense he could use the force to fix the ship
that power is just a bigger version of how jedi's make their lightsabers, all the components are there and they use the force to put them in the right order.
Is it really a new power or just him using the force instead of his hands? We've seen force users use the force for other things they could have used their hands for.
He couldn't with his hands, the force was strong enough to lift it from the snow, the force is more precise than his hands so the repairs can be perfect and fast.
Legend has it sidius tried to do it after he found out vater did it, but failed the repair check

Well its not really a new power,, in legends force power can tamper and such with technology. Which I also think they're bringing into Canon, because ahsoka could be using a little bit of that power without realizing it with finding Rex's chip.

I feel like “Force engineering” would only be possible for those like Anikin whom already had mechanical skills. Not so much of an ability as just using the force to do endoscopic repairs. I would for sure dabble in Force Engineering 😂
The Jedi have to use force engineering in order to assemble their light sabers because of the extremely precise placement of the cyber crystals.

I’m writing my own Star Wars fan fiction and I write about this one Sith I named Darth Devastator who invents his own force power. For now I’m calling the ability climate chaos. Darth Devastator creates a dark side ritual where he can create devastating blizzards, tornadoes, lightning storms, and even tsunamis. I know it sounds OP but a lot of the ancient Sith were capable of destroying entire worlds. Besides according to my Star Wars books too much dark side energies can effect the weather.

There is a Force power in the FFG rpg where you are augmenting your mechanical skill with the force
As the @TheNightmareDeus below me puts it, this is less of a new Force power or technique and more like Vader pulling off a similar feat of precision and accuracy with his Force Grip (I know that's technically a different technique all together but you get the idea.) that he did when he controlled the tools fixing and improving his cybernetics and suit with all of his focus, but on a much larger scale.
Luke Skywalker is learning more about what he needs to know when confronting a powerful adversary, only in this case the opponent is Darth Vader.

This "Force Engineering" is not a new power. It's something he has been around for a while and in Canon has been to have been used by other Jedi before in the High Republic Era. It is super rare but not new. Young Anakin used it to create C-3PO and in the canon book Race to Crashpoint Tower it is said the power was also used by another jedi called Ram Jomaran. Again he was in the High Republic Era.
Nothing new it's just called force ability "Mechu-deru" which was used rarely in the Old Republic seems like now Vader learned this

well a Jedi or sith can assemble and disassemble their own lightsabers with the force early on and considering Vader was an expert at repairing things already since the days of Anakin Skywalker, it's not really surprising or new.

force builders were a thing in canon, as lego star wars is canon. or at least freemakers is, since the star scavenger makes a cameo in one of the newer movies. so it isn't a new power, just the first time he used it.
They need to make a darth Vader movie or show to illustrate the TRUE power of darth Vader and his side quests before the original episodes. The original episodes didn’t do Darthe Vader right, we never got to see his full power

The power is called force build and was first seen in freemaker adventures lego series

This isn't really new, because jedi assemble their lightsabers like this. In fact, this is basically a skill that only someone who understands the tech.
It's not really new. If you understand the tech you are fighting against, you could dissasemble it, shut off sheilds. It's just for engineers and powerfulls only.
Not really a new ability, just using old ones to do a task not intended, like wrench's used to open certian locks
It's hardly a new power, we've seen Jedi using it to assemble their lightsabers in clonewars, this is just on a larger more complex machine.

It doesn't really seem like he used the force to fix the ship... It was probably just to unstuck it and fix some dents here and there. Force powers aside, Vader is a great engineer in his own right. Wouldn't be surprised if he could still salvage a ship that just grazed some rocks with little tools.

I believe the crash was planed by Vader so as to draw his son in to a trap where he would have gotten him but Luke left instead of challenging him but Vader was ready for that to hince why it was so easy to repair his Tie-Advanced. He not only knows how to fly an fight amazingly but also how to crash a ship to he had lot's of practice with Obi-Wan in the clone wars an before that. All this with the intent of catching Luke or at the very least cause as much fear an untrust in himself by giving him hope only to crush it all to make him vulnerable for Vader.

This isn't a new power; Nihilis literally did the same thing to the Harbinger and the rest of his fleet.
Why cant he fly purely with the force? Who needs engines?
This is not all that shocking considering he was already a great engineer as Anakin and most Jedi do use this skill only on a smaller scale when creating their lightsabers
