    The Odyssey-class is my favorite ship not just in Star Trek Online, but in Star Trek in general. It has the large proportions of a Galaxy-class coupled with the sleekness of a Sovereign-class still very-much looking likes its own ship. I desperately want to see it introduced into the main canon of the show's some how.

    TriAngulum Audio Studios came up with a plausible explanation for the Odyssey class commissioning discrepancy between the Picard comic and Star Trek Online. They suggested that the Odyssey class was originally commissioned in 2385, with two testbed vessels, the Odyssey and the Verity, testing two versions of a quantum slipstream drive. However, the future development of the class was put on hold after the synth attack on Mars that destroyed the Utopia Planetia Fleet Yards. After Starfleet finally recovered, the project was restarted in 2409. Or at least that's the gist of it.

      In STO it was designed as a "Super-Dreadnought" to counter new Klingon Dreadnoughts in the early 2300's. It could be that Starfleet refitted the ship in-between 2380's and 2409 so much that a new subclass was created. That would allow both to be correct.

    The STO designers absolutely knocked it out of the park with the Odyssey class. It’s majestic, it’s massive, it’s straight up beautiful. It represents a new golden age for the Federation.

    T5 Oddy, the very first ship I bought in the game. Fell in love when i saw it in the zen store and then i found out that it was actually the Enterprise F...... SHUT UP AND TAKE MY ZEN!
    Ship is fan-designed also.... And, next to the little Aquarius in the back, it can separate its saucer from the drive section too, just like the "Old D" could.
    And i love the bridge too... Beats, IMHO, even the "modern" Discovery bridges. Has that Starfleet look.......

    And the Odyssey sister ship to the Enterprise F the USS Yorktown carries on the lineage tradition. She has NCC 1717-A. She's the next in the family line to the old Connie refit Yorktown. And I love that with the legacy names the two sisters back together again after near 90 years in STO. I'm hoping in future story content the Yorktown gets her 25th century debut. Would be amazing if she fights alongside the Enterprise.

    • @occultatumquaestio5226
      @occultatumquaestio5226 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      And that legacy itself can be traced back to ww2 with the American sister aircraft carriers Yorktown and Enterprise.
      By the time of STO, this legacy is over 460 years old.

  • @ODST_Parker

    I really do love the way they've portrayed the Enterprise in STO, and Captain Shon. I wish we got to see her and Shon's crew a little more often though. I've really come to like the Odyssey class since its introduction in the 2nd Anniversary event, and I especially love the Yorktown class refit it got. It's a ship I use far too infrequently, and I'm gonna set it up with a better build soon.
    EDIT: Oh, and I absolutely love the bridge! I wish I could get a nice, big bridge like that for the Jupiter class. Really feels like a capital ship with all the stations, a big view screen, room to move around, even a second floor below the main deck.

    Ah, I love the Odyssey class. I too would love to see it become the canon Enterprise-F. It's got the old tried and true Starfleet design aesthetic of the older Enterprises while having it's own unique flair at the same time. Also, while I love the sleek look of the Sovereign too, I appreciate how the Odyssey manages to keep the pointed style but also resembles the older ships in posture.
    I prefer the original look of the Odyssey over the Yorktown variant though. It's mostly the nacelles and pylons that I care for less.
    The Sojourner is very nice but also so different visually. The Endeavor is a no. At least not with that saucer.

    Shon is also a cool captain, essentially being Andorian Kirk/Sisko. I do wonder if his MIA daughter will brought up in a future mission. (It's be 2 years in game and 12 years IRL, when is Starfleet going to reclaim the Vega system?)
    She is a fitting ship to bear the name Enterprise and boldly go where no one has gone before.

    It is a beautiful design, and perfectly suited for an Enterprise/flagship design. It would be an utter shame if they replaced it with something wildly different. • @3Rayfire
    @3Rayfire 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    While I despise the split neck convention that STO adores, the Enterprise-F is a fine ship, with the right name. The Yorktown is a splendid uprate of the original and is more aesthetically pleasing to me. Also of note, after the Picard comic inclusion, the Legendary version of the ship is the Verity class which is a direct translation of the original fan design that became the Odyssey class. Shon is a great Captain, Rivas gives him a rock solid but humble voice, and you can tell why he got the nod to be Captain of the Enterprise.
    The Endeavor and Sojourner classes are also great variations on the design and have really appealing features. The Sojourner's Hybrid Galaxy saucer Constitution stardrive works incredibly well, and the angles on the Endeavor are immensely cool and give it an intel ship feel.

      Mostly because the Galaxy was essentially a space cruise liner with weapons. The Sovereign was designed for patrol and combat because of the Borg and Dominion threats. The Odyssey imho represents the pinnacle of Starfleet ship design; capable of doing everything you’d ever need it to.
    Need to conduct covert surveillance or navigate tight quarters? Deploy the Aquarius, or likewise detach the Saucer if you need more punch in a fight.
    Deep space exploration? Odyssey-class vessels had years of onboard rations and could operate autonomously for 5-10 years depending on load.
    Need power projection? Odyssey-class vessels fit into the Dreadnought category and were the biggest ships fielded by the Federation.
    Diplomatic meeting? They were known for being extremely luxurious and spacious to VIPs and command staff.
    The base model was versatile, and three subversions (NCC-97001, 97002, 97003) provided room for enhanced facilities depending on needs. My headcanon for my STO toon is that his Odyssey class (U.S.S. Conqueror NCC-97018) was an Odyssey that sacrificed everything for the sake of total firepower. If Odyssey was the Iowa-class then Conqueror was New Jersey with Tomahawks.

    the USS Odyssey NX 97000 finished construction in 2405, while the USS Verity NCC 97000 - 97005 finished construction in 2387, the Verity was rushed to completion to serve as the Flagship of the Evacuation of the Romulan Star Empire in 2387, both the USS Odyssey NX 97000 and USS Aspiration would be mothballed mid-construction in 2387 amid sudden shipbuilding reprioritization efforts towards mass producing Inquiry Class Starships, and would not restart its construction efforts until the renewed Federation Klingon War in 2405, the USS Odyssey NX 97000 would finish first at 2406 and its registry would be changed into NCC 97000 while the USS Verity would change its registry into NCC 97005.
    the USS Aspiration did not have a serial registry number at the time of its mothball, so when it was reactivated it was renamed USS Enterprise-F with the serial NCC 1701-F. the circumstances for the loss of the Sovereign class Enterprise-E remains a mystery as its mission was highly classified. every Odyssey Class Supercapital ship was either destroyed or catastrophically crippled during the Battle of Earth in the Iconian War of 2410. however Starfleet decided to save these wrecks and rebuilt them into the Odyssey Class Block 2-S Yorktown Refit by 2411.
    notable facts: the Iconians were responsible for orchestrating several key events across the last 30+ years of history in the late 24th century to early 25th century, from the Hobus Supernova Disaster which should have never been able to destroy Romulus and Remus (Ambassador Spock knew of its threat but nobody outside of Starfleet believed him because that's not how normal supernova's work, evidently it wasn't a normal supernova.), to the Undine Threat, the Battle of Earth, the Battle of Qo'noS, the Vaad'waur Conflict, and many other notable events.
    It must be noted that the majority of these exceedingly skillful covert operations were performed by the servitor races of the Iconians, chiefly being the Heralds - whom hold the Iconians to very high regard as their progenitors and masters, other servitor races include the Dewans, the Solanae, the Tal'Shiar, the Elachi, and the Vaadwaur, it is undetermined whether or not the Bluegill race is considered as a servitor race or simply a covert tool used by the Solanae to indoctrinate members of various species as covert agents. the Undine are not a servitor race of the Iconians and were merely coaxed into war.

Maybe in a galactic influx as in the results of the Kelvin timeline that is now the main point of the continuous of it. If only Spock had succeeded in the original timeline. This alternate timeline would cease to exist.

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Spock appointed to the position of Captain of the Enterprise at one point?

    Rick, I’m pleased as punch that Enterprise’s captain is not human. We need a lot more non-human Federation captains. I mean, after all, it’s the U.F.P., not United Earth.

    So, are the Picard Comic declared canon? This means this ship class works to be canon and be the first time I can think of. That would be a first in my memory banks of non-TV or Movie lore be canon.

    • @nathanielheilmann7351
      @nathanielheilmann7351 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes and No. They're not "official" canon which is the TV shows and movies only. However because the Picard comics are written IIRC by the showrunner, a lot of fans consider them to be canon. Its not like Star Wars where there are "levels of canon".

      @@nathanielheilmann7351 Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman wrote the plot (but not the script) for the Trek 2009 Countdown comic, which Picard retcons a fair bit of. So these sorts of licensed things can totally be overwritten as required.

    I may not be remembering correctly, but wasn't there a book with an Enterprise-F that had Data as a Captain? Was it an alternate timeline or something? I cannot remeber what book it was either.

      And I do know that in 'Star Trek: Countdown', he was depicted as Captain of the Enterprise-E.

    I like the design except for the gap between the engineering section and the saucer section. I almost never like gaps like that because they often make no sense unless people in engineering never need to move to the other sections and vice versa (or it is using time lord tech lol).

    You were wrong. The first non-human Captain of USS Enterprise was Spock. He was Captain if NCC-1701 when she was relegated to a training ship during the Wrath of Kahn. Spock also was Captain when Kirk was lost in the USS Defiant.

      Commodore Data was technically 2nd place non-human captain of _USS Enterprise_ (NCC-1701-F) from the "Imzadi" novel. Wesley Crusher wore a Van Dyke goatee years before Will Wheaton's beard in real life.

    I adore the Odyssey class, specifically the original version, i'm not a fan of the Yorktown variant (I just don't like the way it looks). The Odyssey class is my favorite ship in all of science fiction, my Odyssey class in STO is U.S.S. Atlantis NCC 9918.
