- This will be probably the spiritual successor of Dragon Nest. Developed by Hound 13 the combat reminds a lot of Hundred Soul but in an open-world environment. Company CEO Park Jung Sik was also working in Eyedentity Games before (Dragon Nest) and even older action games like KUF and Ninety-Nine Nights.
This game will aim for Mobile and PC Platforms powered by Unreal Engine 5 and published globally by Garena. The game is still in the early development process so no release date announced yet.

I was the acrobat in my friend's group back then. Reading some of the abilities made me smile from remembering those days
This is what makes my hopes up:
1. They are not new guys, they are experienced devs in making Action MMORPG and mobile game (Dragon Nest & Hundred Soul)
2. If you pay attention, each character in this trailer using 2 or 3 or even more active skills, not included ultimate skill yet. This alone already have more active skills than genshin that only have 2 for each characters..
3. Aerial combat/skills

you probably didn't play the original to think that lol. the graphics were always shit, the endgame aswell, but the gameplay of the characters and pvp/co op was super fun

ngl, ive played dragon nest for years and to see it come out with a sequel as good looking as this is a thing a beauty. its like all the original dragon nest characters are grown up in this new dragons sword mmorpg. so heart warming to see. however in the nexon spectrum, they need to NEVER make mabinogi 2, mabinogi 1 is good the way it is. they tried making mabinogi 2 years ago and it failed cuz everyone keeps coming back to mabinogi.

Unless it was scripted into the big dragon fight, the clinging mechanic reminds me of Dragon's Dogma, too. That with the awesome character design and non-traditional mounts has me quite excited for this... can't wait to see and hear more. :3c

It reminded me of Monster Hunter, because of the multiplayer aspect of it. I hope they make it similar. Hunters jumping on the monster, hurting it, exposing weak spots, yeah, that's really cool.

Yeah agree, I've been playing new mmo's for the past years, and still no game can match Dragon nest combat style even after 14-15 years since its development still the number 1 fast pace action mmo for me.
I think pc and gpu will blow up if Dragon nest upgrades to latest game engines, Dragon nest's combat system and skill animation will be too heavy for the gpu if ever it upgrades to new game engine.

I had already given up on any kind of reimagining/remake/flat out sequel of the original DN years ago, after all those lame ass spin-offs and mobile ports. And it's been how long since the original game release? 10-13 years? Man.
Combat looks solid if not better, but that to be expected after this long, i even recognize some of the animations. And since i only care about combat, everything else is just a bonus to me. Hopefully there will be PvP too.
Let's hope it doesn't flop.

It's not circle swing. It more reminiscent to mercenary's whirlwind, a level 32 skill. Circle swing was a single big swing

While looking forward to this, shame its doing the whole hybrid pc/mobile.
Should remain PC like how DN is. The expansive skills to use with DN is what makes it great to play with, both pve and pvp.
While this one offers the whole.. swapping. I will miss using skills 1~6 / Q~C / etc. A plethora of skills you can use.
I feel it will be hampered for the PC perspective since it will have to adapt in mobile controls.
At least, that is definitely how I feel when testing around on Genshin and Tower of Fantasy.
Skill/move sets on a character/weapon could have been developed even further and so on. But no, we are tuck to 1 skill, and a mere swap of 2-4 characters/weapons to swap in.
TLDR: The game could have much more potential being a PC game over a hybrid.
Regardless, just have to see how it will turn out. I still play DN (though its really a hollow shell of the old). so hope this can bring popularity to DN.
Those are exactly my thoughts as well. I'm so worried about the fact that this is supposed to be also a phone game. The amount of skills you had in your rotation was one of the main things i loved about Dragon Nest. I just hope that maybe they will be able to replicate the same complexity of boss mechanics as they did before. That would probably be enough for me, even with less complex arsenal in our hands.
I am hyped for this, the nostalgia it gives me back when I was playing Dragon Nest in high school. Hopefully the overall game quality doesn't disappoint

1. Every Big Tree is not always genshin
2. That house style already exists since DragonNest 2010
3. Castle also already exists in DragonNest 2010 (Saint Heaven)
4. Water with little islands alredy exists in DragonNest 2010 (usually dungeon, most in Saint Heaven - Hermalte Port dungeons)
5. Thats not hilicurl camp, thats goblin/orc/ogre camp, if u look closely they don't have mask and they have different variant color.. already exists in DragonNest 2010, the difference is its breakable in DragonNest.
6. Visual of mountain in the background of castle basically Saint Heaven city in DragonNest. In DragonNest its the home of Black Dragon, one of legendary dragons in DragonNest that can turn into human, or atleast since Veskuld took the black dragon crystal and implant it in his body.

everybody gets flying attacks like fucking final fantasy characters, i miss the days when Acrobats do like 2-3 moves in the air max and gets grounded pretty quickly
4 years later we hear of the game's release on JP soil and how it's not doing good with income so it never comes to the west. If it does come to the west years later, it'll be riddled with all the monetization they had to add to stabilize the game but only the whales are left. 3k players if they're lucky. I ain't holding my breath for this one.
Hopefully it's not just a couple of skills per character because of mobile restrictions, otherwise it looks cool.
That's exactly what i'm fearing... What made Dragon Nest great for me is that at any point i had at least 10 skills in a rotation and had to switch tabs to even access them all. If this is a mobile game i'm EXTREMELY worried that we're just gonna get 4 skills to spam. If that's the case then it's definitely not a game for me.
We might get a wheel like skill section that we can turn out twist to other skills

pretty sure this is Dragon Nest franchise, you can tell by looking at the building and structures, the skills, and the monsters. the time setting must be far away after the Dragon Nest event.

I'm in. But I'm becoming increasingly concerned about action combat games on mobile devices simply because they have not yet done well with targeting. Also, if it's a mobile game, power will outweigh mechanical skill mostly again because of the unavoidable mechanical skill limitations that result from trying to play on a mobile device. It sure is pretty though.
If this things turn out to be like geshin impact, I'll dropped it immediately.

UE5 is sure a nuts game engine, but we will never know till the game gets released, this might be another shitty ass game.

there's rarely a gacha focused mmorpg so i doubt this will be one. though a lot of mmorpgs do contain gacha still but in a different form (rolling stats and skins)

The combat gameplay--its "squishiness"/"bounciness", the combos, the smooth transitions from one skill to the other, the quick cast, and minimal unnecessary dramatic animations for combat movements are the main reasons I still play the old Dragon Nest. Those would be the new Dragon Sword only features that would separate it from other games with huge similarities such as Genshin Impact and Tower of Fantasy. Hoping that it'd be similar or better if not close to the old combat gameplay, otherwise I won't play it.

Someone listened... I posted years ago that kingdom hearts 1,2, &3 has the best fight mechanics in gaming and that Hundred Soul was a close second in fight mechanics. If those fight mechanic styles were coupled with an mmo open world game, you'd dominate the rpg world on any platform. None of that half steppin ish like ffxv, vii remake or GOW train tracks. Pure open'ness with friends... Pause😅. Finally getting closer to the biggest game high I ever had. So far it was ffvii back in 97, sun up to sun down that feeling that took me away from my friends and my lady at the time for almost a month straight. Thank you Hound 13 for showing square and the rest of these half steppers what they should've been doing, from a gamer dad dude. Hurrup with that release... Pause😅

I was excited until I saw character switching in-game, sadly it's a gacha game like Genshin. Don't get me wrong, Genshin is a great game it's just gacha games is not really for me. I was hoping for a DN open world which DN PC players dream that won't come true.

Looks a bit too Devil May Cry and not enough Dark Souls. I'll come back around to this later and see what it looks like, but Dragon Nest had some pretty decent combat and that's what made it good. Here's hoping.
It's a shame that companies seem to be unable to make money on these games unless there is a mobile side to it? A game being playable on mobile GARAUNTEES that it won't be as fleshed out as it could be. Graphics and gameplay both suffer.

The original was weak in all aspects beside the gameplay. It was also a bit too advanced for the quality of internet we had in the early 2010s. I hope monetization stays mostly cosmetic and not pay to win.
