I can’t thank you enough for sharing your experience rebuilding the FJ40 3 speed gear box! I’ve been procrastinating my trans & xcase rebuild for years and you’ve given me the confidence and motivation to get started! Well done mate!!!

Great series. Bearing like that I put in the oven to heat them a bit, and the shaft in the freezer for a couple of hours. Makes the install a bit easier.

      Yes that's a great idea!
At work we use an induction heater on the bearings.

Just did a 3 speed restore watching your video! Your content couldn’t be more helpful. Thank you from the States. One quick question. When you install your new bearings, we’re both able to move in and out a little bit? I don’t know if this is normal.

By any chance would you be able to identify the number of teeth on each gear?

I know that you want to keep it original did the thought ever cross you mind for a later 4 or 5 speed box? Ive just done the same thing to a H55f 5 speed it has transformed the vehicle.

Yes mate, trying to keep this build as original as possible. But I have very different plans for a FJ45 troopy in the pipeline....

just wow! By the way, do you wish that you would have zincplated all the hardware for the FJ40? I always wondered why you didnt do that, you put so much effort into it.

I didn't have the setup back when I did the FJ40 build. I love having the setup now, it is a lot of work and extra prep but the result are worth it!

Why not install the H55f 5 speed trans?

I'll trying to keep this build original, but would love to get my hands on a 5 speed for the troopy!

Mate i think you put the seal the wrong way i put mine in the other direction with no issues. The hollow part should always be in the pressure side. I would double check that
    But amazing work anyways

Thanks mate, you maybe right. I'll double check.
