Me and my wife have abandoned TV altogether. Now we have more time for our children and even for our ownselves. From decades now i have reverted back to online courses, constructive youtube chanels.
I noticed this when i was a kid. Anytime my mom would watch a pakistani drama the story line : either the dramas of a married couple and how if the wife's a nice lady its the husband who's messed up or reverse the roles. And everything is about falling in love. Nothing more than that. A handsome dude being someone's knight in shining armor?? yes that's what the story would be about and how he's struggling either to win the girl's heart or parents disapprove. Then you have the modern "girl boss" who's got it all because she doesn't wear the traditional Pakistani outfit, is mean, nasty and somehow life works in her favor whereas the poor guy or gal who's holding on to religion is seen as naive and too "uptight". Listen it's all subliminal messaging. I don't even live in pakistan and i spent a few years studying in a Pakistani and most girls there act like the annoying female leads who think because they use a couple english words here and there and dress non traditional they are the main characters. I rest my case here.

الله کا شکر ہے ہم ڈرامے فلمیں دیکھتے بھی نہیں ہیں مگر اس بھائی نے کہا کہ ڈراموں میں دکھایا جاتا ہے کہ لڑکی بڑی مظلوم ہے سب سہہ رہی ہے اور لڑکا خراب ہے تو صرف اس بھائی کی بات کا بتایا ہے کہ ہمارے سامنے ایک 14th گریڈ کی گورنمنٹ اسکول ٹیچر کو بھی سسرال میں یہی سب سہنا پڑتا ہے، انکو اپنی مہینے کی تنخواہ دینے کے باوجود اسکول جانے سے پہلے اسکول سے واپس گھر آنے کے بعد وہ سب گھر کے کام کرتی ہے اور پھر سسرال والوں کے طعنے ایک طرف اور شوہر سے گالیاں کھانا ایک طرف اور ایسے ایسے گھٹیا لوگ اسی معاشرے میں پائے جاتے ہیں کہ سسر بھی بہو پہ ہاتھ اٹھا رہا ہوتا ہے اور المیہ یہ ہوتا ہے کہ ان گنوار جاہل لوگوں کو بیٹیوں کا مقدر قرار دیکر بیٹیوں کو ہی صبر کی تلقین کی جاتی ہے کیونکہ وہ بدقسمت بیٹیاں ماں باپ بیاہنے کے بعد واپس گھر لانے کی ہمت نہیں رکھتے۔ بہت سے ڈرامے محض ڈرامائی کہانیاں ہوتے ہونگے مگر جو بات اس بھائی نے کہی اگر وہ کسی ڈرامے میں دکھائی گئی یے تو بالکل درست دکھائی گئی ہے غریب ماں باپ کی بیٹیاں بہت کچھ چپ چاپ سہتی ہیں اور اکثر لوگ اس یوٹیوبر بھائی کی طرح ان سچی اپ بیتیوں پہ یقین نہیں کرتے کہ ایسا تو بس ڈراموں میں ہوتا ہے۔
