Looking for adventure and glory, William Walker leads a group of Americans into Nicaragua to join the country’s civil war, with the hope of “Americanizing” Latin America. This episode is the Part 1 of 6 of the story of William Walker’s attempt at establishing his own Republic of Nicaragua.

As a Nicaraguan thank you for this podcast about one of the many wars we had in our contry. Walker is only seen as a devil and not as a human being who was a product of his time and circumstances and ambition of the Nicaraguan government of that time that was more busy fighting between themselves than to govern their people

He try to come back by Honduras 1860 before costarican´s army kick them out from Nicaragua in 1856. Costa Rican president alert all central americans countries about the Walker Invasion on central america. Yes costaricans army kick they filibuster army in a glorious victory.

In all reality it was another American that ordered the execution of Walker. Honduras just happened to be the destination.

I remember in the history book I had in high school had a paragraph or two about Walker, and for whatever reason, it really stuck out to me.

Odd you think they would of destroy his body, but they buried him and fence him off like he was Billy the Kid?(Also fence off) Just find it odd they buried him is all. I would of left him to the crows.

I was wondering the same thing. Walker even has a small name tag on his tomb stone and was actually burried in a local cemetery in Honduras I would have thought as ruthless as he was, to be left and scattered.

I like this episode because we got a little emphasis on walker as a character. Usually there's just so many names being spoken and its hard to keep track of who everybody is on so little background
