afaik, the ant-aphid relationship is actually quite interesting. Ants take them, breed and farm them. They move them to plants on which the aphids feast and the poop out the ,,honey dew'' - basically a redbull for ants. This is how they wage war on my chilli pepper plants every year. Those nasty buggers. I really have a love-hate relationship with ants :D PS: Please anybody with actual education in biology, feel free to correct me

16:49 you save up the pink flower and then place it on top of them so it stuns them if you had to use it you can use the purple flowers to make your self invincible to attack them or command to attack them

This game seems like the rightful succsessor of sim ants, the first ever made ant colony sim game known to man. Sim ants was made by the same company that made SimCity 2000 and other sim games, their name was Maxis if i remember correctly. About 30 years ago i played that game, and one nice thing was that you could have lots of colonies that take over a house where you had to drive the people out. And the neverending fight against the red ants...(at least untill you killed all red colonies) Good memories!
I got that same legendary scorpion king last night. I started playing myself. The first player base I tried to raid.... fucker had 4 boss monsters. The scorpion, a spider, another spider, and then a praying mantis. I was livid. Because it mean's I lost. But the game is pretty fun surprisingly. I did so much in one day that my map was completely empty, including killing the red ant farm. And then The cake showed up. It was the same spot yours was. And I harvested the shit out of it, and did both of the special monsters. One was a blue scorpion and the other a normal one. I killed the normal one but took the blue one as a pet. Now I want to level him up but need 500 legs to upgrade one of the 3 stats.
Yeah player bases are hard. I lucked out and my first one only had one creature in the queen’s chamber so my scorpions massacred them. But I’ve seen DF throwing his army away on player bases.
As I’m sure many people have said in the comments already, here are a few ant fact (I’m studying microbio not insects so forgive me if I’m wrong): leaf cutter ants use fungus they have developed a symbiotic relationship with yo grow fungus, they then eat the fungus instead of the leaves, also ants don’t usually eat aphids, especially when they are trying to get honey dew, but certain species of ants and aphids work together the ants protect and even transport aphids between plants so they eat the plant and poop out honey dew which the ants actually eat, so in these two examples of symbiotic relationships ants have they are quite the little farmers, and also a bonus scorpion fact, some scorpions actually fluoresce under UV or even natural moonlight, which is pretty cool (no idea why it happens but it does happen in nature)
Additional bonus spider fact: There's a species of tarantula with a symbiotic relationship with frogs. The frogs in question are _smaller_ than the tarantulas and are essentially kept in the tarantula's den as a guard dog/mousing cat. The frogs eat the ants and other insects that can crawl into the tarantula's den and harm the tarantula, and the tarantula protects the frogs from the predators that would eat them. So if we lived in a world where tarantulas were the ones to evolve sapience instead of humans, the tarantula-people would have domesticated frogs, probably.

Empires of the Undergrowth is another really cool ant RTS game where you can play as different ant species each with special abilities plus it's very educational.
You can actually upgrade as many things as you have resources for at the same time, you can also walk away while your 'leaf' is processing, just so you know Also, did you know that if you just leave your flag out in the open and lure the fire ants to your soldiers, all those soldier lives will be spared, because if they look for you, they will not fight your ants, do use your 'personal guard' to defeat the last ones, cause otherwise you will not have defense for ones looking for your workers with aphids, also you could use the flag for going back as extra defence in the back You can use honeydew to buy two abilities, the flower signs when fighting, of which one makes it so that you are immune, the other you have to place down and than all the enemy creatures around it will paralize, pretty useful, the first one especially for you It is very weird to hear you say disgusting about that particular shape...

Honeydew is aphid poop. The aphids offer it to the ants in exchange for protection. Ants farm fungus. The only male ants are called drones and they can fly. So can the queen before she is mated with a drone and cuts off her own wings kills the drone and gets to work. So yes it seems the developers might have looked at the ant wiki when designing this game.
You should invade the red ant colony instead of going to where they are getting the leaf. If you invade the red ant colony and kill the queen ant, the whole colony will disappear

I’ve been playing the game for a bit and some advice I have is killing all the ants in the red colony except the queen which will then make it so they can’t attack you and every time you go back it will remain one ant
Ants have domesticated aphids and use them as livestock. Aphid eats stems and poos out sugary beverages for them. Besides humans ants are the only other known animal to have domesticated a different species

Some scorpions are actually electric blue under UV light, so it kinda makes sense for the scorpion to be blue
Most are I believe it has to do with the exo skeleton and uv light reflecting or going through it, if I'm correct

Hey, some info about the ants: The ants don't kill the aphids, they give them food to collect the precious product the aphid make: honey dew.
Iirc, ants actually keep the aphids alive cause they help with cleaning the nest and produce honeydew for the ants to eat.
I think you'd come up with some pretty funny solutions in Opus Magnum. Love to see you play and how you handle the puzzles.
