if you do 100 damage and your crit damage does 1000% damage +100% crit damage would add 100 damage whereas +10 damage would add +100 damage so at a certain point, adding flat damage becomes better / same as adding crit damage
*Tonight, on the RCE channel:* Matt discovers the power of crit based builds but his short attention span prevents the maximum benefit by constantly getting cancelling upgrades
Actually once you have a ton of crit damage you should start picking up base damage because it is multiplied by the crit, so a 20 damage add on will be 100 with a 500% crit
kept driving me nuts that he kept grabing upgrades that were % of base damage, and just didnt increase his base damage. like when he had 1k crit damage, he grabs something that increases it by 100% which is 10% more, instead of improving his base damage by 20 points. that ment it could have been a 20k damage increase.
17:07 'Projectiles that bounce now do so in the opposite direction' "Bouncing projectiles probably aren't worth it since most of them are going off screen" MATT MAKE IT MAKE SENSE
Well, Vampire Survivor kind of was a sleeper hit. It existed as just this one guy's hobby project to play with his friends. Put it on the Steam Store to maybe make a few bucks. Well, takes a few TH-camrs and Twitch Streamers to pick it up. Just start singing its praises. Suddenly, the game is a huge success. And all of it pretty much done by one guy. Who has a day job and the game is just a hobby project. But, he does update it and adds new stuff....FOR FREE...I know it is crazy. So with that. A lot of copycats pop up and try to milk it. And most are just Chinese knockoffs or straight up theft of the original game. And then, there are those that are fun and attempt to be a little different from the game they are copying. Really, it is nothing new. Industries copy each other all the time. One company does X thing and it is good. Other companies copy X thing. Then, another company does Y thing and copycats follow. Then, there is that one company that does Z and other companies copy Z. Yet, Z sucks, but companies STILL copy Z and attempt to make Z the greatest thing. Still, fails.
In Vampire Survivors like, I classify weapons into a few categories. While this game has only 1 weapon, the various upgrades do allow you to develop analogues: - close defense. Those attacks are about dealing with swarms that come too close. In Vampire Survivors the Garlic and Bible, for example. But the way this characters attack speed increases would fit - but it is also more of a boss killer - Siege Breakers. These weapons work best when the screen is full - they break up the enemy sieging your position. For thus build, it would have been the pierce and edge bounce. To a lesser extent explosions - boss killers. Weapons that aim for "the highest health enemy", deal HP% damage, can be aimed by the player - that sort of thing. Targetting System and the ability to increase attack speed would fit - mid-range. Focussed on dealing with medium range enemies. These need the enemy to be softened up by Siegebreakers. And/or only serve to soften the enemy for the close defense. They tend to fall off hard as the game progresses.
To increase the critical chance, there are only 5% and 10% cards (gray and blue). That means when you only have bad card options and one of them is 5% crit, it's like picking a violet, technically. It's my motto in the game "if everything is gray, +5% crit"
Nice enrichment of the decor ! Love the teasing with the thread story about who is behind that "accident" that happened to Crazy Jimmy. Missing out some of your former visuals and extra production value, though. Looking forward the next video !
at a certain point attack speed is way more important than raw damage output you can do 1000 dmg a hit but fire once a second u would still loose but if you did 100 dmg and fire 5 times a second it would be way more effective
26:38.... No that maths is wrong since it is additive and not multiplicative, you are currently at 1300% which means 150% only bring you to 1450% which is a 11% gain not 150% gain... At low crit damage it is way better to take the crit damage because it is way stronger then the damage upgrades but it gets weaker and weaker each time you take it since it is additive, where as damage ups at first start off weaker but then get stronger and stronger as you get more because they are multiplicative instead of additive (I think silver= 10%, blue 15%, purple 20% and gold 25%) ... With those two choices of purple crit damage or blue raw strength at your current stats the purple crit damage only increases your damage by 11.538% where as the blue damage raises your damage by 15%, you get more damage from that blue then you do from that purple. About 1,000% crit damage is when the strength becomes more powerful than the crit damage being at 1300% you are better off taking 1 rank lower raw damage than crit damage.
Not sending hate or anything, but please credit Dax on the thumbnail art, he has stated that he redraws the characters for his thumbnails. Please even just put something in the description for him.
Honestly after the second boss it doesn't really matter. Your build can only go so many successful ways after the enemy health scales that crazy. I wish we had some higher infamy runs instead.
Stacking crit in this game is insane. Think about it, less than a minute into the video and a 100% crit upgrade means gaining 60 additional damage (assuming 100% crit) Considering damage scaling flattens out later game that's insane scaling
I wish the algorithm on top comments wasn't based on likes, but content. At this point AI should be able to detect what comments could cause Progress/Revenue Growth.
as someone who has beaten infamy 18, i say this is a good build. gluttony is not the best especially later on in the difficulties cus there are so many enemies you really need to keep your dashes adn since the start to do 3 damage per hit. dashing is important. also you kinda need you attack speed.
If you could have focused on expanding the area of effect for the fields, and ignored the field that slowed projectiles, you could have had a longer run. The bigger the field, the longer it takes for the enemies to approach, and they take damage all the while. However, due to your lower base damage, the damage field was actually not that helpful. But for a critical build, high base damage is nearly as good as a damage multiplier. Splitting the difference between them would have benefitted both the field and your basic attack. I would advise a build that focuses on attack speed, base damage, critical chance, and bouncing projectiles. Add in a slowing field and more dashes, and you'll have an easier time, I think. Maybe grab the magnet and field expansions for breathing room as well as slowing down enemies from further away, and it would all synergize quite well, I imagine. Add in explosive projectiles, and the frame rate might go right to hell, but you'll have no issues clearing groups per shot.
Litteraly everything you refused to get bounce I Litteraly felt pain in my soul because that's the most broken thing to get especially with peirce because all your bouncing projectiles also pierces...it hurts so much
and for the love of god learn how to use dash! Like the ninja band upgrade, it is one of the best there is imo, it reduces your dash cooldown 30 percent and damages enemies you dash through. Then combine this for example with the slam upgrade and you get two faster dashes which clear your screen and kills enemies. Good for getting out of a pickle
Even with attack numbers and explosions off the game will crash before you can get to a certain point, still a really fun game tho, vampire survivors is still my favorite
At some point you started to act as a real Architect. Hey Real Civil engineering. Got to say man. Really love you videos and your content. But not nice to take Dex's drawn Thumbnail character and put it in your own without giving him credits. Not nice at all. Had to find out through a community post from him here on TH-cam. Just saying man. You can do better than that. :( Edit: You did better :) Glad to see you gave credits afterwards

Thanks for crediting to the artist thumbnail btw appreciated RCE
In the settings menu, if you turn off inflict damage display and show explosions you'll drastically improve the frame rate.
Was thinking that too
But then you don't see those sweet numbers
IMPORTANT: DO NOT LEAVE RCE IN VEGAS ALONE. He will end up broke and blame math for his demise.
Too many shiny things too!
“The numbers mason, WHAT DO THEY ALL MEAN!!
That will be a hangover no idk bcos math
True...
I like the editor's choice he should do it more often.
if you do 100 damage and your crit damage does 1000% damage
+100% crit damage would add 100 damage whereas +10 damage would add +100 damage
so at a certain point, adding flat damage becomes better / same as adding crit damage
assuming your crit chance is 100% of course
And after 1000% critic damage taking simple damage is better imo
Also the base damage upgrade improves auras, explosions, and other attacks that do not crit.
@@Corvid- afaik everything except the explosions from the perk that does explosions on crit scales with crit.
It'd be best overall to alternate between the two. The more of one you take, the greater the boost from the other as well.
"40 to 50 is a 20% increase, nearly." lol sometimes when matt shows us his math skills i'm glad he isn't in engineering anymore.
Well why he is correct mate 20% would be 8 exactly what is „nearly“ for you only 1 off ?
@@Kurt_212 40 to 50 is a 25% increase. 50 to 40 would be a 20% decrease.

oOh ShInY!
Even worse he refused to get the bouncing upgrades because combined with pierce and crit is broken
In the settings, you can hide damage numbers so late game will help with frame rate. Can also show/hide the stats.
Just a note Matt, the damage to dash and the heal dash counter each other, even after the damage dash has been fully used up
Good way of neutralizing the first then, especially if you can upgrade the former to heal 2.
At least just a tiny credit for the thumbnail work would've been great ^^
Sorry mate he should’ve at least asked you
Was it not in the description at the time of the upload? Because it's there now
I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure with this guy the area upgrade reduces how close they have to be for the attack speed increase
Actually once you have a ton of crit damage you should start picking up base damage because it is multiplied by the crit, so a 20 damage add on will be 100 with a 500% crit
U can ... Turn of the damage indicator ... So as to decrease the lagging

1000% of 20 is 200, not 20 000. But you are right that it would be better to upgrade damage at certain points in the game
DF is also crazy about increasing the Crit damage % instead of base damage....
@@minegraiv you're right, I forgot to drop 2 zeros.
this right here was fax i was so triggered by his lack of base damage upgrades
Can we see a "Matt vs Editor" contest? O.O Would be interesting to see how your choises differ from each other. :)
You do not want to get too much attack speed due to diminishing returns, get some base damage will be much better
