    Some very inspirational painting there Stu. I’ve been looking forward to this one. Very cool kit that really was unexpected given the number of prior WHFB minis that came out (which really shouldn’t have surprised anyone mind you)…also one going back somewhat to 3rd edition when the much smaller metal foot knights were available.

      Thank you. Yes possibly the most left field miniatures since launch.

    Amazing job… but as a noob, although admittedly with an art background, I’ve just discovered shade paints. Agrax Earthshade, what a life hack that paint is! I now put it on bloody everything!
    And I especially find with armour if you want it to look a littlebit more lived in, a little bit more rustic, or even rusty, it works a treat !

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Agrax is amazing, I’ve just discovered over the years that I’ve move more on to oil washes for the jobs I used to use it for.

      I think washes / shades paints for speed are incredible. If I’m trying to, get a bunch of minis done and ready for my board game, I find I just slap on some bass coat, I don’t even have to do a very good job sometimes.
      Then put on the magical Agrax Earthshade - and they look amazing! lol.
      It’s an unbelievable hack.

      @LaMOi1 it’s been a wargamers go to for getting armies looking great on the tabletop for years now, very easy and effective.

    Great kit and your paint totally does it justice as usual. I was thinking I may try some custom printed pauldrons on some of these. Maybe just one shoulder here and there.

    I don’t have space for an airbrush but really like the look of that metalwork. Do you think an overbush of the metallics could work in a similar way?

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes absolutely, I do this quite often as well, especially when the miniature has less metallic areas.

  • @timwalker7871

    Super clean paintjob! Suits the aesthetic honestly have put mine together and been stuck in decision paralysis on how to paint them for weeks. Think i will try your metal recipe... also personally I love the sculpts, wfb was never about realism for me.

    Hi Stuart.. just a thought for models like this one. You mentioned not using zenithal because of the amount of metal on show. Would using liquid mask work? I'm thinking zenithal on the whole model, then liquid mask on the cloak and other cloth areas, base coat the armour, then remove the liquid mask and paint the model as you do normally. I think the mask would only be needed to base coat the model. Then you have the best of both worlds.. zenithal only where you need it :)

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes it absolutely would, and it’s something o often use myself, especially on large commissions with Space marines. The balance of make in choice would be the time to paint on the liquid mask and remove Vs the time to just paint those sections in a traditional method afterwards.

    Seems 100 years more advanced than typical armor Bretonians use

    • @MiniatureRealms

    • @scepteredisle
      @scepteredisle 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The rumour was these were Reiksguard Foot Knights, but when GW changed course all they did was "re-skin" the CAD files to become Brets. It makes perfect sense when you look at these models. It hurts how stupid those helmets are.

      I don’t have any of those models to compare, but I feel these knights are maybe a little to large for that.

  • @anglecynn927
    @anglecynn927 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    The thing is, I’m struggling to fit them in a list, M@As are just better at sticking around and mounted Knights are more lethal.

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep they don’t get in the main Grand Army list I’m working on, mine are in my Border Princes list, which is more of a fun one.

    I like the paintjob but not the miniatures. For some reason they remind me of alice in wonderland card soldiers 😅
    Maybe with the old knight heads but i doubt they would fit.

    • @MiniatureRealms

      Ridiculousness, probably why you're less than a mediocre painter.
      Imagine having this attitude with another profession:
      "This builder is using a nail gun instead of a handheld hammer, I don't want to buy this house unless only hammers were used."

      @@Whichendup or, hear me out, I either don't own an airbrush or prefer the tactile experience of putting the brush on the model? See how I managed to reply without insulting you because I didn't see your opinion as a personal attack like you did, for some reason.
