FIMI just did a big update of around 45 mb. See what you think now. One thing I noticed, now when it lands, it lands straight down without sliding to the side as always before, and overall it seems more stable. The camera horizon remains perfect on my drone! Will see what the other reviewers say. The camera is fine for me since I am not a professional, thus why would I pay to lose $2000 up in a tree? I've never had problems like you getting satellites, and flew today with 18 on the iPhone 12. The DJI mini is just to weak a flyer for my taste.
The FIMI is really a no brainer. Bang for the buck. I’m not a pro but to me the FIMI’s video quality does put many professional youtuber’s video quality to shame. Great drone

regarding the "rain and snow proof" claims they make, the fine print does clarify that you're still supposed to return to home as soon as possible. its more "resistant" than "proof". all in all though, pretty good results, that was a solid downpour!
The most common problem is the ground where you take up. If it’s too dark or rough, can’t fly. So a solution for that is a landing path or use your phone flash light for the ground right below the sensor.

The piece of foam is actually only for calibration purpose and use, but doubles as a reason to complain about not being a real cover. Cover available aftermarket for under$10. Don't touch the switch on the side, leave it as it comes. Make sure orange switch on controller is in fly position and not rth return to home. Great drone, absolutely awesome 😎.
Would you rather it took of without proper gps lock and then was difficult to control, flew away, or crashed into some one or some thing? There are apps to check flight conditions, including availability of enough GPS satellite signals to properly fly and control ANY drone. A compliment of 12 or more satellites are occasionally not available due to several causes. And if you fly with less, you assume all risk and thus relieve FIMI of theirs. That the drone will not immediately take off without enough GPS signals is not a bug. It's a feature. I have older GPS drones that can take 5 minutes or more to acquire enough GPS signals to allow take off. In addition, I have to ask, did you happen to be trying to take off close to or in a no fly zone? Did you check? Also, use a landing pad or other flat surface with this drone. The gimbal is low, and gravel or grass or debri can and will prevent the gimbal from completing calibration and thus prevent flight until the operator, or pilot, resolves the issue. Just like removing a plane's wheel chock. The square foam gimbal protector? It's just for protection during initial shipping and handling. Like peanut foam. An aftermarket non-flight gimbal cover is available for under $10. Or you can simply save the foam piece if you're going to ship the drone or travel using the original box. Yes, they coulda, shoulda, didn't include a nice looking gimbal cover. IF it even needs one. Maybe it doesn't? People violently crash this drone all the time without the shock of the impact harming the gimbal or camera. So it should be fine without one if you use the original box or an aftermarke case designed to hold and protect it, and carry and handle it like you would a non-flying 4K digital camera. It's not a GoPro. -Cheers.
Mine did just that - straight out of the box! All I did was tapped on one of the phone video icons. I also have difficulty getting the gimble to work - have to stop and start it all again.. But no prob getting sats...no prob taking off - just the F,A ing around to get it to work. Fotunately, or Unfortunately..I no longer have the prob as I flew the F'er into a tree. No camera! no connection.. I bought a mini 2. 😂

im from Nova Scotia Canada here and i also have the fimix8 se 2020 and i own a couple dji drones including the mavic mini and the mavic air 2,i keep saying this x8se2020 is the equivelant to a dji drone and the quality is the same,i find it better than the mavic mini in multiple ways and is just as good as the mavic air2 except it doesn't have obstacle avoidance but you can fly in the rain.i would recommend this drone to all my subscribers anyday

The recent update on my 1st gen fimi x8 se becomes stable in searching sattelite it is always indicated that it is ready to go.....the one major flaw i just confirmed is that if the drone gets too cold to the point the lens is fogging the gimbal will glitch hard and shoots wobbly jelly footage....
Hi Jason I have the Mini and for me it's better than the X8. I have seen the same footage from the 2.7K Mini and the 4K X8 and the Mini had a greater dynamic range and clear image. Of course the X8 being a bigger drone had a better speed and wind resistance but the deal breaker for me was the under 250gr weight and with that the X8 couldn't compete. The range of the X8 is obviuosly greater than the Mini wifi range. But you should be comparing the X8 2020 with the Mini 2 that has occusync 2.0 with a range similar to the X8 and 4K video. The Mini 2 at 449 usd is a great contender for best cheaper drone.
I've seen the X8 get 18 km round trip. The mini and the mini 2 get far less than that... they are both considerably slower than the X8 especially the one but even the two.. show me a mini 1 or 2 that has Leaps and Bounds better image quality than my 2020 that I paid $300 US for? th-cam.com/video/AFCbTJG7HUk/w-d-xo.html
I love my mavic mini but the fimi is overall the better drone. Can handle stronger winds and no dji geofencing both are huge perks if you need them. Fun fact the fimi has the same Sony camera as the original mavic 1 pro from dji. Now the mini 2 is a closer run for its money bc it too can handle strong wind better for some reason. And still 249g which is useful some places. But again that dang geofencing.
In the end you can see another con; the horizon is tilted, it takes some time for the gimbal to adjust and it will just tilt again and again... They haven't been able to fix this with an update.
I thought that too. I just bought mine last week. Same issue. Came across another youtuber who showed how to take a ruler, manually calibrate it, save the settings.. problem solved.
People forget to much to get in to the specs of there drone and what they can do with it.Because what he said is is right.When you go into your calibration menu ,than you have the option to do it manual .And than there is no more problem with the horizon .So get to know your drone first beter ,before you talking off Knuckleheads 🤔🙏
Try standing directly behind it and don't move I believe I know a lot of the snaptain drones and certain GPS drones will only take off if you standing directly behind them. Also it doesn't like to take off if you don't have at least 14 satellites.
Bit late here and I don't know if this would make any difference to this model, but with the older original Mi Drone 4k, both of the ones I've used (still do) wouldn't let me take off unless they were facing North.
Yukon, Canada, I get 15 to 18 sat's within 2 minutes. Have you tried a different phone. I have heard it makes a difference. Mine lock on like pro's. 2018 and 2020 version.
Great vid. Totally agree about the gimbal protector. Regarding yours not taking off, i have never had that problem with any of my FIMI X8's. I assume you calibrated the compass with every new location?

found a deal for 400usd. i guess i gotta get it while the deal lasts! currenly own a mavic mini. i need that 4k. 1080 has too little detail. and mavic mini signal issues even when the drone is very close are an issue. wind resistance also an issue even when wind is not too strong. so i just convinced myself i need the x8! nobody needs 8km. i am fine with 500m as long as i get good signal.

High wind warnings in 8mph, the bug with the back left prop everyone gets, the random fly aways in some mini 1's (including 1 of mine which dji admitted was a faulty drone unit) The fimi literally has the same sony camera and gimbal as a mavic pro 1. Look it up. ps: yes dji customer service is great these days, at least they were with me. 5-10 years ago they were horrible though, so mileage will vary on that one. ps2: the mini 2 has fixed most of my issues with the mini 1.
Nice video! I flew mine in freezing drizzle and in came down like a rocket due to ice on the leading prop edges (not reccomended!) It bounced off my roof and hit the ground. Only suffered a small chip on one prop thanks to a foot of snow!
There is nothing about the Time that is better than any DJI, if you consider all the issues, all the time spent trying to fix problems, make things work properly, my time is worth more than the $300 I saved from getting the DJI Magic Air 2!

Bought this drone last week, first drone ever, followed some guidelines, did have to do a update the moment before i wanted to take off (which was done wirelessly from my phone to the drone), but other than that, it was flying in a matter of minutes and was very easy to control. Footage looked great too.
Yes ,the DJI Mini 2 will be much better ,than Mavic Mini . But here is the quuestion Mavic Mini or Fimi . I will buy the Mini 2 when it is possible. The Range from the First Mini ,here in Germany is a shame..We dont use FCC. I hope the Wind stabilty is better than the first Version . What will be better with the Fimi, with the Fimi i can fly where you want. With DJI Drones you can fly, where DJI want. This DJI Control is not nice. Best wishes and stay healthy

I Have 2 DJI drones. I hate the Goe fencing. I can't get up 15' in the back yard because I'm too close to the airport ridiculous. Looking at Fimi.
geo fencing is important because their signal is strong as heck that it could distrupt the airplane signal

There is nothing about the Time that is better than any DJI, if you consider all the issues, all the time spent trying to fix problems, make things work properly, my time is worth more than the $300 I saved from getting the DJI Magic Air 2!
Please no one buy this drone. I purchased it from banggood. It had massive problems with horizontal tilt and camera shake due to gimbal vibration.
I did notice the horizon tilt and included it in this video. In terms of camera shake I didn't have this issue at all

man u made my decision for me not getting this drone...yea budget drone but i rather save that 550 n hold it to get a mavic air 2 or parrot anafi...nice vid my dude
Bought this drone last week, first drone ever, followed some guidelines, did have to do a update the moment before i wanted to take off (which was done wirelessly from my phone to the drone), but other than that, it was flying in a matter of minutes and was very easy to control. Footage looked great too.

Yes ,the DJI Mini 2 will be much better ,than Mavic Mini . But here is the quuestion Mavic Mini or Fimi . I will buy the Mini 2 when it is possible. The Range from the First Mini ,here in Germany is a shame..We dont use FCC. I hope the Wind stabilty is better than the first Version . What will be better with the Fimi, with the Fimi i can fly where you want. With DJI Drones you can fly, where DJI want. This DJI Control is not nice. Best wishes and stay healthy
The X8 is still better than the Mini 2 in my opinion in most aspects except for portability and weight.
